GPA shows a blue label 2.5 selling tor $472 in 2017, At this grade, I'm not sure how much a married cover really matters. At least it is complete, but we'll see if it sells. Top-Notch Comics #5 $330

Green Hornet Comics #22 CGC 2.5 off white/white pages Featuring an Alex Schomburg cover and a Japanese WWII cover to boot, this copy presents well for the assigned grade. No GPA data in this grade. Ranger Comics #10 CGC 3.5 off white pages This book presents very nicely for the grade. The water stain in the lower left front cover is what brings this copy down. As you can see, the staining is fairly unobtrusive and almost blends in with the color palette of the cover. GPA doesn't offer much on this comic. Hasn't sold in this grade in almost 3 years and there are only 11 copies on the census. Asking price is $250 shipped in continental US. SOLD

Just a suggestion. Plastic surgeons can use technology to allow people to see what they might look like after surgery. Dentists can give patients a computer generated image of their projected results from cosmetic dentistry. Forensic anthropologists can use a skull to generate a representation of what someone might have looked like based only on that. After examining the comic through the slab and utilizing the graders notes, it would seem that CCS should have a reasonably good handle on what work will need to be done to garner a blue label. Scan the comic. Use a photoshop program to show where pieces will be removed, tear seals will be removed or released, and where color touch will scrapped off, etc. (all an approximation, of course) and it seems they could provide some guidance to allow a client to make an informed decision regarding the restoration removal. Of course, it would be nice to have someone from CCS comment on the feasibility of this idea.

I have certainly seen some color touch removals that have made me cringe (and I passed on bidding on the comics at auction). It does appear that some of the color touch is not removed by gentle scrapping, but rather by sandpaper or a Dremel tool. Here's a thought. Perhaps as a service, CCS could provide a photoshopped mock up of what they feel will be needed to get the comic into a blue label. That way the submitter could have an approximate idea of what the finished product will look like. Obviously, CCS would have a disclaimer that the mock up may not accurately reflect the final result, but it does give the owner a rough idea of what will be done to the comic and how good or bad this may look. Here's a quick example that I worked up. This Airboy doesn't have any color touch, but for our purposes, let's suppose it did and it also had pieces added at a couple corners. That is tough. Obviously, I'm going with a war cover. I think I'll choose this one for its strong color palette. I would probably have a different selection tomorrow. And the next day.

I guess this kind of qualifies. Note the restoration. It's trimmed, got tear seals, pieces reattached, been cleaned, reinforced. But they drew the line at color touch. Because, you know, color touch would be just too much restoration for this comic.

I finished off my Golden Age Hitler cover run. Some of the comics are really hard to find.

My results have been fairly consistent. Admittedly, they were all low to mid grade GA books and that's an area where one man's 4.5 is another's 5.0 and so on. Overall, no complaints. A few went up, a few went down, most stayed the same. PQ changes were similarly a mixed bag of ups, downs, no changes.

This does seem to be a problem (or perhaps a strategy ). You have to request the credit and it sometimes takes two or three requests. Since I only had one comic go down in grade on this last submission, I'm not even going to bother.

This one was a CBCS 7.5 W. I thought it might stay the same. This was a CBCS 7.5 ow/w that I thought would drop. Visually, the #11 above is a much prettier book. Graders Notes for the #11 are: small crease right top of front cover breaks color, subscription crease front cover, tear top of front cover. Notes for the #31 are: wear top of spine breaks color.

I just got back the last of my CBCS graded books (I think) from crossover grading. It was a Goldilocks submission. One went up, one went down, and one was just right. The one that went up was a CBCS 5.5 ow:
