  1. Speaking of Los Bros, I have been posting several cool Herb Trimpe covers from their 1987 art catalog at ComicArtAds. They sure had a lot of amazing Trimpe art back in 1987. I bet Herb got a nice price for parting with so many great pieces.
  2. Several original art lots in the June 2021 Heritage Signature auction have been previously offered for sale over the past few decades. Check out some of these pieces, and their asking prices...before they went to Heritage: Barry Smith Conan #2 cover https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/barry-smith-conan-the-barbarian-2-cover-original-art-marvel-1970-/a/7244-91044.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 http://www.comicartads.com/content/conan-2-cover Gil Kane Green Lantern #11, page 9 (prices are pretty close at this point!) https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/gil-kane-and-joe-giella-green-lantern-11-story-page-9-original-art-dc-1962-/a/7244-95257.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 http://www.comicartads.com/content/green-lantern-11-page-9 Gil Kane The Atom #26, page 1 https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/gil-kane-and-sid-greene-the-atom-26-splash-page-1-original-art-dc-1966-/a/7244-92088.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 http://www.comicartads.com/content/atom-26-page-1 John Romita Sr. Captain America #148 cover https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-romita-sr-captain-america-148-cover-red-skull-original-art-marvel-1972-/a/7244-91040.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 http://www.comicartads.com/content/captain-america-148-cover Johnny Craig Gunfighter #6 cover (prices are also pretty close at this point!) https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/johnny-craig-gunfighter-6-cover-original-art-ec-publ-1948-/a/7244-92046.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 http://www.comicartads.com/content/gunfighter-6-cover Pat Broderick Captain Marvel #58, page 1 https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/pat-broderick-and-bob-mcleod-captain-marvel-58-splash-page-1-marvel-1978-/a/7244-95062.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 http://www.comicartads.com/content/captain-marvel-58-page-1 Werner Roth X-Men #21, page 5 https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/werner-roth-as-jay-gavin-and--ayers-x-men-21-story-page-5-original-art-marvel-1966-/a/7244-95356.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 http://www.comicartads.com/content/x-men-21-page-5 And there will be a couple more to come, so stay tuned!
  3. Um...no. I think it is best to focus on original artwork here. But thanks for your interest!
  4. Thanks for the recent examples @Kohei, @lobrac, and @cloud cloddie! Letting new (and veteran) art collectors know that pages popping up for sale are being listed at prices 2X (or way more) than quite recent purchase prices is a great educational service and makes this hobby stronger.
  5. Cory sent three different new Marvel Masterworks copies when I scanned three sets of complete interiors I owned and sent them to him a couple of years ago. Cory also thanked me in the books. It worked for me.
  6. You are following Al Gofa art sales?!? I am impressed.
  7. I mean to resurrect this topic before today's Signature auction started, but better late than never, to see these pieces...Before they went to Heritage: Neal Adams Action Comics #366 cover https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/covers/neal-adams-action-comics-366-cover-original-art-dc-1968-/a/7242-91002.s http://www.comicartads.com/content/action-comics-366-cover Dale Keown Sensational She-Hulk #17 cover https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/dale-keown-and-joe-rubinstein-sensational-she-hulk-17-cover-original-art-marvel-1990-/a/7242-94093.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 http://www.comicartads.com/content/she-hulk-17-cover Art Adams X-Factor #42, page 11 https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/arthur-adams-and-al-milgrom-x-factor-42-story-page-11-original-art-marvel-1989-/a/7242-95002.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 http://www.comicartads.com/content/x-factor-42-page-11 I am actually surprised that I don't see more than a handful of pieces in these Signature auctions that have not been offered up decades earlier in dealer catalogs, Comic Buyer's Guides, etc. Cheers, Lee
  8. Hi all! My Schaffenberger art auctions begin to end tonight. I also have listed some art books on eBay related to Jim Steranko and John Buscema. Thanks, Lee https://www.ebay.com/sch/leebenaka/m.html?item=114740272049&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  9. Update: I have listed all six of these nice-looking Kurt Schaffenberger Superboy pages on eBay, with low starting bids: https://www.ebay.com/sch/leebenaka/m.html?item=114740272049&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 Thanks, Lee
  10. Update: Now on eBay (see below)! Hi all! I just put 6 pages of original art from The New Adventures of Superboy #19 (1981) in my CAF for sale folder: https://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=151037 These are very nice pages, in great shape, with sharp art by Kurt Schaffenberger and Dave Hunt. And best of all, each page is priced at $85 + shipping! Please let me know if you have any interest in this low-dollar art drop! Cheers, Lee
  11. Hi all! Just wanted to let you know that the current Heritage weekly auction includes several pieces of rarely seen art inked by Dave Hunt, including art by Dan Jurgens, Irv Novick, Kurt Schaffenberger, Curt Swan, and Stan Woch that Dave inked (some examples are below). All proceeds from these auctions go to Dave's family, so bid early and often! Thanks, Lee https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/curt-swan-and-dave-hunt-superman-370-story-page-17-original-art-dc-1982-/a/122109-11917.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/irv-novick-and-dave-hunt-dc-comics-presents-83-story-page-2-original-art-dc-1985-/a/122109-11851.s?ic2=myconsignmentspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyConsignment-112816 https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/splash-pages/kurt-schaffenberger-and-dave-hunt-the-new-adventures-of-superboy-12-unused-splash-page-1-original-art-dc-/a/122109-11884.s?ic2=myconsignmentspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyConsignment-112816 https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/stan-woch-and-dave-hunt-detective-comics-567-story-page-6-original-art-dc-1986-/a/122109-11952.s?ic2=myconsignmentspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyConsignment-112816
  12. Thanks Glen! Yes, Crumb cover, Memphis Jug Band illustration.
  13. Does anyone happen to have a list of the realized prices from the Sotheby's Comic Books and Comic Art auction from June 1997 that they could share with me? Thanks in advance if you do! Best, Lee
  14. It did win the CAF 2020 "best of" splashes category after all.... https://www.comicartfans.com/bestofyrcatwinners.asp?BOId=7
  15. ...are nothing new. But you probably knew that already. I was reminded of that when I read a piece in Richard Halegua's Comic Art Graffix Gallery Newsletter (Winter 1992), concerning a Sotheby's comics and comic art auction. The main complaints seem to be conflict of interest and market manipulation (sound familiar?). The opinionated article is an interesting little read; I have included scans of it below. If anyone is interested in the comic art offered by Sotheby's in their 1990s auctions, I have uploaded 126 scans (and counting) from Sotheby's catalogs to www.comicartads.com Some uploads also include the final auction price, if the lot sold. Just search the word "Sotheby's" in the website's "Search Terms" box, and you can see all the scans. I have not been able to locate a price list for the 6/14/97 Sotheby's auction, so if anyone has a copy of those prices, please let me know. And big thanks to @adamstrangefor sending me scans of prices realized for several of the other Sotheby's auctions. Cheers, Lee
  16. Thanks for the kind shout-out @Spider-Variant! I do indeed have copies of the Dave Hunt autobiography available for $25 postpaid in the United States. If anyone needs one, please send me a message. And if you need more information about the book, you can find a nice write-up of it here: https://downthetubes.net/?p=101921 For my money, the Andru/Giacoia/Hunt combo on ASM rivals the other great ASM art teams including Kane/Romita Sr. Cheers, Lee
  17. Indeed! I don't think it will take long. As someone who is very fortunate to own a few examples, I don't know whether to be happy or sad!
  18. Regarding Byrne MTU, good catch on the MTU #79 cover Yoram! I admit I focus a bit more on non-Terry Austin-inked Byrne MTU pages and have been waiting for one of those panel pages to cross the $10K threshold. But I haven't seen it yet, even with very strong pages, for example: MTU #60--$9,300 (Nov. 2019) https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-byrne-and-dave-hunt-marvel-team-up-60-story-page-16-spider-man-and-yellowjacket-original-art-marvel-1977-/a/7212-94045.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 MTU #68--$9,000 (Aug. 2019) https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-byrne-and-bob-wiacek-marvel-team-up-68-story-page-13-spider-man-original-art-marvel-1978-/a/7211-93034.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 MTU #61--$8,866 (Mar. 2019) https://comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fbids.asp&id=1299271 MTU #63--$8,400 (Feb. 2019) https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-byrne-and-dave-hunt-marvel-team-up-63-story-page-10-iron-fist-and-davos-original-art-marvel-1977-/a/7204-93025.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 So I would concur with Varanis (who has no need to apologize!) that an action-packed splashy Byrne/Austin page from MTU #79 is an outlier and an A+ (A++?) example for now, but maybe not for long. Best, Lee ps. I appreciate your thoughtful work on this list Hari!
  19. Hi Hari! Do we have many, or any, confirmed examples of Byrne MTU panel pages breaking the $10K mark? I follow these pages pretty closely and have not seen this myself, although some pages at auction have come close. Thanks, Lee
  20. Hi Rick! I can't offer much advice regarding Comics Reader, but I am always interested in pre-1999 back issues the Comic Buyer's Guide. I love finding good original art ads in those magazines for scanning and posting on www.comicartads.com I have an index of all the issues I have reviewed so can always let folks know whether I would be interested in a particular issue. Thanks, Lee
  21. Hi all! I have two lots of comic art catalogs that I would like to trade for Christie's Comic Collectibles auction catalogs from the 1990s. However, I could also sell the two lots if there is interest. The lots are: 15 Artman catalogs (1984-1989) plus one Hugo's Collectibles catalog Collectors Showcase auction catalogs #4, #14, #16, #17, #19-23, #30, #32, #35, and #36 (1978-1981); many of the catalogs have lists of prices realized for the auction lots. I would trade each lot for 1 Christie's auction catalog. However, if anyone wants to just send some Christie's catalogs to me, that would be great also. If anyone wants to just buy my lots, they are $30 each, which includes USPS Media Mail shipping (U.S. addresses only). Please PM me with any questions. Thanks! Best, Lee
  22. Hi all! I just posted a short interview with Phillip Anderson of Artsource/Booksource/Artworkworld to my ComicArtAds website: http://www.comicartads.com/content/phillip-anderson-interview I had been scanning some images from Phillip's 1992 catalogs and decided to reach out to him to share art collecting and selling memories. Phillip has offered large amounts of art from particular titles and artists for reasonable prices (example below). I hope you enjoy the interview, and thanks to Phillip for taking the time to answer a few questions! Cheers, Lee
