  1. That's a nice one. Years ago I listened to a few of the old radio shows and I still can here the opening sequence between Henry and his mother every time I see an Aldrich comic.
  2. I like that Goofy Scoutmaster (he makes a great tent pole). Thanks for posting the interior, it looks like a fun crossover story.
  3. The grey tones are my favorite covers of the title. These are great examples and obviously spectacular copies.
  4. Here then are scans of a bunch of mine: 13 [ I like this one a lot. A great black cover comic.
  5. I'm a big fan of the gradient covers, including this one.
  6. Lone Ranger #8 is one of my favorites in the run. An origin issue and the first of the Indian back covers.
  7. I really like the early Casper covers but this one is definitely my favorite and I know I haven't seen a prettier copy.
  8. I don't know if anybody collected the $100 reward but Earl Bircham was caught and executed (electric chair) about a year after this comic came out.
  9. By the way, thanks Scrooge for coming up with the idea for this thread. This has been fun and I'll be slowly pulling out books through the fall that I haven't looked at in years. I also realized that Gold Key has got quite a few fun and unique books as I've got the Dell and Gold Key runs stacked together. When I put the others back I was looking at a copy of Jet Dream. What a hoot! I agree, great idea for a thread Scrooge. Also look forward to seeing many more of your books 40Yrs.
  10. Never seen that one before. Not exactly your typical Dell. True that. The final issue. I like both of these a lot even though they're almost opposites, style wise. Uncluttered and nearly black & white vs. busy and awash in color.
  11. Never seen that one before. Not exactly your typical Dell.
  12. That U.S. Jones is a super cool book. A perfect fit for your collection.
  13. My only experiences with Nyoka are from this comic and the Jungle Girl and Perils Of Nyoka serials. From what I've seen, she's always in trouble. Her middle name should be AAAIIEEEEAAAA!!! (or however you spell a high pitched scream).
  14. absolutely love this one! The Punch 12 of pulps an amazing piece of art in my book! This one definitely makes you stop and look. Great cover.
  15. Poor Patsy? Poor Wendy! Haven't seen that one.
  16. I looked through GCD and saw that most of Buscema's Dell work was in some high # Four Colors and the Roy Rogers series (neither of which I have in my collection). I even see that Gaylord Du Bois wrote a bunch of the stories. Definitely something I'll be checking out and I'll post some when I get them (assuming not already posted).
  17. Good eye! I think you're right. I really like that #27 and your theory makes perfect sense to me.
  18. That's a great looking copy of the first issue (even if it is one of those dirty, rotten Four Color's). Here's issue #3 (the first non-Four Color issue).
  19. I love these painted covers too. I think the first time I saw any of them was Straw Man's Junior Miss #36 (the one with the creepy guy looking through a hole in the fence). I have a copy of that one, but I'm missing most of the others. Well, if you're only going to have a few, that's a good one to have. Nice copy.
