  1. Always loved this Frazetta Ghost Rider cover (still need a #2 before the group shot). The CGC label says " Ayers 8/3/96" written on 1st page in marker. I was happy to see that it wasn't just written by some kid. Ayers splash page for the cover story.
  2. Definitely. That scene from the original with the little guy in the web yelling "Help me!" while the spider came after him really gave me the creeps as a kid.
  3. The sci-fi books are my favorite EC's and to me, this Feldstein cover is one of the best. The Williamson cover story is a standout too.
  4. I'm a western (and Severin) fan so I probably like these covers more than most people. The insides of these are decent enough, but a big drop-off from the issues written by Kurtzman.
  5. This was a good read. A Sherlock Holmes type story with Mr. Mycroft as one of the main characters. I couldn't tell if he was supposed to be Mycroft Holmes or an old Sherlock Holmes with a fake name.
  6. Thanks. I'm on the lookout but haven't come across the right copies yet. I MUCH prefer reading the EC originals over the reprints, so I'll wait until I can add them to the collection. Looking forward to reading them though.
  7. I've read all the Valor's and the first 4 of Piracy and have loved every issue. Here are the #1's with my favorite story from each.
  8. Some rough scenes in both these books, but especially in Keene's (Daniel White) Southern Daughter. A young woman is brutally attacked by her brother but is "saved" just in time by her father.
  9. Thanks and that's one hell of a scene to inspire.
  10. Here's one I bought earlier this year (along with my favorite story from the book). I read reprints of probably 75% of the EC line about 25 years ago but slowly started buying originals over the last 2 years.
  11. Thanks SA and, as always, more great information (and cool books). Hopefully you won't hear "you can call me Ray or you can call me Jay" every time you look at your new painting .
  12. I think a couple of Ray Johnson's. I couldn't find the Six Angels listed in any books but did see it noted as one on a pulp cover website. The only Ray Johnson I'm really familiar with is from the old "You can call me Ray" beer commercials I watched as a kid.
  13. I only have a few of the U.S. Archer Heade covers. For me, one of the highlights of this thread was being introduced to Heade's art. I remember seeing some Heade OA earlier in the thread but not sure where.
  14. All good, thanks. I don't know about classics, but I've still been picking up books here and there. Nothing good enough to change my avatar though.
