  1. Judging by the CGC numbers (and both copies having WP), I'd say most definitely. Wonder just how many more high grade copies such as these two are out in the wild. It's truly amazing to see two copies in HG with WP's. This is another indication that SC4 was printed with better paper than BB28 or SC22. SC22 is the rarest of the top three DC SA in HG.
  2. Sold through our web site: http://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=38524805 Wish I'd known it was available. There's a CGC 7.5 and a restored CGC 7.5 that'll be in our August Prime auction: Showcase (1956-1978) 4 CGC 7.5 Showcase (1956-1978) 4 CGC 7.5 Restored Congrats on selling the 8.0. Is the 7.5 CGC Universal in the August Prime auction from the same collection of the 8.0 which just sold?
  3. the 10 and 13 have great cover content, but Supe is drawn too small on those covers. If only he was larger like on the 7. The train on the 13 is great though. Unlike the early Actions, the Batman has a much larger drawn presence on the Pre Robins. The 10 and 13 is an early concept of a Superheroe flexing his superpowers. I haven't seen a 10 unrestored in the public market for a while and didn't a 13 poor recently sold on Heritage for almost 15K? plus the 13 supe image is just a mirror image flip of the 10 pose. The 10 is much tougher overall than any of the early action supe covers. Yes, a no back cover 13 went for $14k+ recently on a Sunday HA. Gotcha, but the concept is such signs of the times in the 1930's. Seems 10 is the scarcest of the for mega Supe covers 7,10,13,15. I would consider these four to be up there with all the pre-robbins. yah, but I'd say 1,7,10,13 are in a class of themselves. I've never liked the 15 cover as much. Maybe because it wasn't a Shuster cover. The 15 is still 1939 and early enough. Supe looks like Ronald Reagan on that cover I would think A1 and Tec27 is the class of their own. I agree that the cover art on 15 is not Shuster and may not have great appeal for some. It is the first large Superman/large Superheroe on cover.

  6. The same thing the financial crisis of 2007, the collapse of Bear Stearns, the real estate bubble pop, and the recent cratering of Apple stock have to do with it. Nothing. Disagree Disagree with what? All those things already happened and they had little to no impact on key comic values. If serious American economic issues didn't have an impact on American comic books, why would a foreign economic issue have any impact at all? It wouldn't and it won't. The reaction has begun It's possible the reaction can be in the mild downside on quality vintage comics...but when prices has risen another 20-50%?. If this occur, then a pullback of 10%-20%?. Another example that can occur, is prices can stay stagnant and smaller percentage increase compare to the last ten years performance.
  7. +1 Being diversified is a sound strategy. One portfolio can be diversified by having stocks, bonds, real estate, gold, fine art, fine art, vintage baseball cards etc.., and of course "funny books". Never put all your eggs in one basket. I would be cautious giving advice to diversify portfolios with collectibles in the same vein as traditional investments like stocks, bonds, other funds, businesses in general and to an extent real estate. The individual markets, liquidity and volatility profiles are very different and frankly unless you have exhausted traditional retirement savings methods you shouldn't be putting sizable funds into collectibles. In reality you need to be quite financially secure for collectibles to be a reasonable diversification for retirement - which only applies to a very small population of people. Being diversified and not putting all your eggs in one basket is not okay? It's okay to be diversified to own tangible assets like some of the collectibles I mention; hence, "funny books". For example, if you were in U.K. and you held an AF15 three days ago or longer, you would have been protected from the volatility of the pound currency. An AF15 hasn't plunge in value say 10-20% overnight like the pound did recently. Owning a high demand and desirable collectible can be rewarding as a hobby and investment. Of course nothing is guaranteed, but again...one should have a diversified portfolio

  9. It's definitely been better to be long than short the last ten years in quality vintage comics. Imagine being short Amazon or Priceline stock the last ten years...margin calls or continue funding your losses.
  10. Man, I wish now I hadn't sold my copy way too soon. I believe you had a Showcase 22 7.5 which you let go around 2008? I'm sure that was a great price back then and you did well. I had so many strong offers for my SC22 WP in 2008....I almost let it go. I didn't let it go, because I knew finding another copy with bone white pages will be nearly impossible.
  11. That's a nice complement to that 6.0 sale for $8000 in April. -J. Yup..strong price for this copy, and this current sale confirm the 6.0 for $8000 in April wasn't an anomaly. But then again, SC22 has been trending up in all grades lately.
  12. Man did that really sell for that price? Im skeptical for sure It's a recently graded copy...yes the seller with low feedbacks, he does have it in his possession with the recent pictures.
  13. If you are referring to this 5.0....pretty for the grade. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Showcase-22-CGC-5-0-OWW-1st-Green-Lantern-/281987879540?hash=item41a7c99274:g:~dsAAOSwGYVW~fd3
  14. Don't know if anyone was watching this. A record price for a Showcase 22 6.5 Cream/off white pages $9600 http://www.ebay.com/itm/CGC-6-5-1959-Green-Lantern-Showcase-22-/262491509408?hash=item3d1db692a0:g:Y1kAAOSwOVpXZA~p&autorefresh=true
  15. Record price for this and even with Brexit http://www.ebay.com/itm/CGC-6-5-1959-Green-Lantern-Showcase-22-/262491509408?hash=item3d1db692a0:g:Y1kAAOSwOVpXZA~p&autorefresh=true
  16. I am marking this post and coming back in a few years to take my victory lap The world will be in absolute pain though so it really won't be much of a victory Hulk1962 can stick his head in the sand I am AWAKE During the last recession in 2009-2010, it was a great time to buy AF15's. If there is a decline on AF15's during the next recession...it will be a mild pullback and will create a great buying opportunity. The amazing fantasy 15 is not rare. I have a decent stash of AF15's..my cost average is decent. If we see a larger than expected decline...I'm still in a good position. Yeah, would love to own some early Spidey art. I love the book too and the character but if you like Spiderman, go buy some Ditko or ROmita Original art. It's a better investment due to supply constraints. The amazing fantasy 15 is common
  17. Japan was in a secular bear market....I believe started in 1989...that's a gruesome bear market.

  19. I sold my comic collection long ago. But kept my amazing fantasy 15s. That said, my above theories are legitimate. Why make a big deal out of this enjoy the books and stop worrying about all the stupid world events....don't you know by now it is a huge manipulation by the so called elite....they will not let the world fall otherwise they would lose all their slaves that they worked for 1000's of years to put them in line. They just want to keep them all in check....so most do not progress. I absolutely agree with half of what you wrote The other half I vehemently disagree The elite may be in control over the long haul but the short term I have my severe doubts I knew Brexit would succeed And I know this planet is in for a world of hurt soon The elites don't give a wit about u or me And amazing fantasy 15 is over valued when the economy tanks I will exit stage left now It's a free enterprise hobby too. You can dump your AF15s in the market if you feel that uncertain about the future of it. Just curious, do you live in the UK? I don't think you peewee22 had any problem moving any high grade AF15's.
  20. Yup. As some who have predicted , the SC 4 mini-surge only worked to push up AF 15 prices. -J. Knockdown by TKO round 3 "see above".
  21. and yet, I only stock AF 15 with no MC, and I get the same $'s, grade for grade (5.0 and below only so far) for both In the current market trend, AF15 without chip has taken the lead. The recent upsurge with AF15 clearly shows AF15 has continue to take the grip lead as "King of the Silver Age". I have to say, SC4 really had a great match up to round three with a "TKO" by AF15. Time to update your price stock Gator.
  22. The other company 7.0 looks more like a 6.5. Even at a 6.5 price, it was softer. SC4 are so scarce in CGC 7.0+ and would like to see more at public auction/market as you mentioned.
  23. The 4.5 and the 7.0 Voldemart are softer prices. These softer prices and pullbacks are futile and prices just can go up parabolic. It's the pauses that refreshes. AF15 without chip will blow away any SC4 grade per grade.
