  1. The voldy copy with a better scan this time. Going for a bundle more this time. Below is the link: https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/amazing-fantasy-15-marvel-1962-cgc-vf-85-off-white-to-white-pages/p/7158-1008.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515 Looks like that copy wasn't brutally over graded like everyone said it was. I thought it was in the ballpark. Someone is going to make out like a bandit! I've seen it SDCC before the auction in 8/16. The scan in the former voldy case didn't do it justice the first time around. As you said, someone is going to make out like a bandit "one of the greatest flip in less than an year" .
  2. I didnt' realized this was boba's old copy...sad to see him leave the club It sold for a good cause later twice. Congrats! Fixed that I'm gone, but I constantly keep an eye out for new posts. And until the day I become a full-fledged member again, I have this to keep me warm You need to be member of two DC SA clubs again. Cool, is that a print of some sort?
  3. You purchased a nice 5.5 WP at a terrific price/timing. Prices have been rising for SC22 across the board recently. Lucky for you that you have an 8.5 already I held and held and held... I should one day show my new four horseman's...all above 6.0+ You're a smart man for holding on for this long and being patient.. Unfortunately I wasn't Nah... you did well with your golden age stash Too much cool books out there. I guess I did but true on those statements. Too much books Id like to own, so little money to spend Give it time to add more.

  5. It could go either way. I've seen both low grade copies begin a groundswell that pushes up high grade books and I've seen ultra high grade copies break records and bring up low grade copies as the tide rises (and I could list books that it has happened to both ways). It all depends on how it plays out in the market in regards to availability, supply, demand, etc. What I disagree with with is when one book sets a new record it's assumed that all books immediately follow the same trend. Unless there is reason to believe an outlier is a part of a trend it's really just an outlier. Low grade GA keys has been rising the last few years due to the higher priced on the high grade GA keys. The market will see HG GA keys play catch-up once the lower grades moves up even more. Of course, there are outliers out there, but the rapid rise recently on low grade GA keys are happening. Which keys are you talking about? It literally goes both ways, depending on whether there are a lot of low grade copies building up the base first or a higher grade copy setting a bench mark that everyone accepts and then lower grade copies filling the gap. I don't think low grade is pushing up high grade prices on all GA keys. In many cases, the higher grade copies have sold (Batman #1, and Action #1 highest graded) and then lower copies have followed suit. If you're saying that all Batman #1 2.0 copies are worth $80K now and going to push up the higher grade copies I disagree. There's enough data across the board to show how Batman #1 trends are happening. A 6.5 just sold for less than a 5.5 a few weeks ago. Much less. I'm refereeing to the GA super keys: the majority of the top 20 OSPG Super-heroes books in the last few years. The Batman 1 6.5 presented at this auction had poor eye appeal at the spine and the 2.0 presented quite nicely with nice off-white PQ. One can judge that the well presenting Batman 1 5.5 which sold for 239K might have pulled the 2.0 up too. Of course, the eye appeal and PQ matters. Agreed on eye appeal and PQ. I mean what happened to the Larson Bats 1? Looked like that went for a bargain compared to lower graded copies that sold and it had tremendous eye appeal and PQ. I predicted that copy to sell min. $500k. I thought the Larson would hit 400K+ and 500K max. But people who will pony these type of money will know. Books at this territory near the 400K-500K is mind boggling. You can get a lot of funny books with that dough. At this pace, the next few years 100K is common ground for these GA super keys.

  9. Holy hammer price Batman!?! Wow what a sale!!! My personal copy is looking even better strong price to be sure, sure makes it hard for a fella to upgrade. the mega GA keys are rapidly getting out of most collectors reach. Sure is.. I think lower graded copies of major keys will mostly benefit in an upward surge faster than higher graded ones because less people have the funds to pay for higher graded copies. I think this is the effect we are seeing and will continue to see. completely agree. +1 Don't forget to put restored books in there too. Moderate and slight have been going up as well. +1 but if these books (low and restored) continue rise, it's going to pull higher grades price up even higher. It would need to, but not at the same rate as lower graded copies... Lower grades have certainly seen a much rapid rise in value. Soon coverless or missing paged copies will be the new entry level grade for collectors who cannot afford to pay mid to high 5 figures for a 1.0+ copy. I've always considered complete low graded copies as entry level. These lower grade GA keys are not mid to 5 figures now...more like mid to six figures. For the two big GA keys that represents well, unrestored, and at least cream/off whites pages...Action 1 1.0 250K, Detective 27 1.0 200K. Seems where it's heading now for entry level for the big two. A blue 1.0 Tec 27 or Action 1 would break 250k right now IMO. That would be the minimum but, 250K+ is quite possible.

  13. Not disagreeing with you Roy. But is this dried glue serving a purpose? The residual from the removal? It's possible the glue was removed prior to have the book in the blue label. The policy hasn't changed. If there's enough (or any) glue on the book to warrant a notation, it's a PLOD. More likely than not a QC issue. That book is going to be a hot potato until someone finally decides to break down and have the glue removed (if it can be without completely defacing the book). -J. This book was graded in 2014. I wonder if this glue didn't serve a purpose at all? I agree this book is a hot potato and need more info on this vague notation.

  16. Last 8.0 sold publicly was 2013. Last 8.5+ sold was about five years ago. The last 7.5 sold for $15K on CL in 2015. I'm guessing this 9.0 copy 80K+. There has not been any new SC22 in 8.5+ in about five years. One of the rarest DC Super Keys to find in high grade.
  17. I didnt' realized this was boba's old copy...sad to see him leave the club It sold for a good cause later. Congrats!
  18. I can't find the "small drop of glue" when I look at the pics. Can anyone else see it? That's really a horrible notation to have on your label. I would want the glue drop removed (so that notation would go away), but I'd be nervous about a big grade drop. I actually think the book looks really nice except for the MC. That's a pretty big price drop for MC. I'm glad the 2 I own don't have the chipping. Does anyone know the percentage of AF15s that have MC? Is it 50%? More? It doesn't matter. ANY glue on a silver age book (or newer) is an automatic PLOD. VintageComics is correct, this is a CGC quality control issue and that is reflected in its price. Assuming the glue can actually be removed without taking a BIG grade hit (something I'm assuming would have been done prior to it being consigned, if it was remotely possible), it would probably be lucky to get a 5.5 blue label, even with a relatively small scrape off the cover. -J. That's definitely was a low price for that copy...of course of quantities of MC's. The label states "small amount of dried glue". The glue is not serving a purpose to enhance the grade....that's why a blue label. Anyone has the notes?
  19. That's dirt cheap compared to recent sales. It's a great deal for sure. Assuming if the person didn't pay by credit card and just have to pay the 13% buyer premium...so less than $8800.
  20. Fair enough. The SC4 CGC 9.6 is a lovely book.
  21. +1. I concur. Turning it in soon and will let you know the results. Thanks for the grades!!
  22. Thanks Dark Knight. The preservation of this copy was astounding which I had to share with everyone. Nonetheless, the AF15 club deserve pictures of each interior page of Spidey's Origin and contents for others too see. This was really an awesome gesture, to photo the entire interior of such a high grade book. Thanks for sharing this. Thanks Straw-Man and Hudson. Hudson, I'm glad you enjoy it, for I can tell you love your books raw...BTW, awesome Action Collection there. Thank you for the compliment on the Actions. Yes, I do prefer my books raw, however, I understand other people's desire to slab them. I have personally only put 3 books in slabs and they were all duplicates, so as I still had a reading copy. I have, however, purchased slab books when that was what was available. Once again, awesome AF15! Simply stunning! Very impressive you have duplicates. Still drooling over your Actions.
  23. Roy mentioned the sell of SC4 CGC 9.6 for 500K couldn't materialized, so my speculation of a high 300K no good? Until a SC4 9.0+ available and sale above 275K...it's pure speculation.
