  1. So you outgrew the stuff, that's fine. I accept it for what it is and can enjoy that. A lot of people wanted their superheroes to grow up with them and that's why we have a generation that thinks that Dark Knight and Watchmen are the zenith of the genre. I'm not one of those people.
  2. I just don't get what you're basing it on except your personal taste
  3. Byrne FF, Perez Teen Titans, Miller Daredevil, Simonson Thor, Stern / Romita Jr Spider-Man..etc etc I'd hardly call it a decline. He didn't call the Copper age "decline" with any caveat about indie stuff.
  4. Did you ever read any of it? There's a lot of good stuff in there. I'm not arguing personal taste, I just disagree that the Copper age's best description is "decline". From the way creators were treated to the actual material, I would hardly call it a decline.
  5. Uh huh. I've never heard anyone else describe the copper age as a "decline". I've heard it described as a new golden age, but never a "decline".
  6. "Copper Age: Creativity exploded-many new publishers with many new ideas. " Man, you are a flip flopper
  7. I agree about the silver age, hard to argue with DC bringing back superheroes and the dawn of the Marvel Age.
  8. Or maybe you're the crankiest Canadian I've never met?
  9. Yes, but he only comes across that way in this thread so he can be forgiven.
  10. The difference here is some of us actually experienced these events first hand as opposed to a civil war buff or even a noted comics historian.
  11. It's amazing how someone can have such detailed recollections of events that they didn't experience for themselves but only read about years after the fact. Truly amazing.
  12. Absolutely, I remember how the prices went up and kicking myself for not getting a sweet copy when I had the chance.
  13. I agree it's buyer beware and I agree that if you buy a 9.8 raw and it comes back a 9.6 you shouldn't try to return it. I also agree with the fact he was in here gloating about not having to return the book on a technicality.
  14. So he didn't gloat about blocking a return on a technicality? I mean, I know he deleted the posts, but I know what I saw
  15. It's all relative. As a kid in 1982-83 $10 was not a pittance, but it was not an exorbitant sum to me either. On the other hand the gorgeous Avengers #1 they had on sale that was NM or better at $350 seemed very unattainable
  16. So, will the OP deleting his posts gloating about how he got one over on a buyer due to a technicality really make anyone forget it happened?
  17. That's not entirely true. In the early 1980's I held a dozen copies in my hands at my LCS and they were $10 each, like an insufficiently_thoughtful_person I didn't buy any of them
  18. I don't agree with that 100% I have had books come back 9.6 that should be 9.8 and vice versa, but when I'm looking for unslabbed books for slabbing consideration there are several times when I come across books that are hard 9.8's and soft 9.8's...the soft ones are generally the coin flips IMHO. Sometimes when you have a book in hand, you know from experience the only way it's not coming back 9.8 is if something happens to the book between shipping to CGC and their encapsulating it.
  19. I find that actually reading the books I buy for my collection has kept me interested in the hobby non stop since the late 1970's
  20. I'm forced to offer 30 day refunds on eBay because of my seller status, but even if I wasn't forced to do it I would do it anyway because good customer service.
  21. I have a small stack of rejects that I'll get around to listing eventually. I'm so lazy with them that occasionally whatever book it is will get hot and it's worth subbing even to get a 9.2. Case in point I had a couple of Ultimate Fallout 4's in the reject pile and subbed them, turned some decent net profit on those. Who's Hector?
  22. Not what I would do, it always makes me feel like they're trying to hide something, but to each their own.
  23. I don't think I've ever given a 9.8 grade to a raw book on eBay, I just list it as NM+ and when I do that I'm fairly confident it would come back at least a 9.6. But I almost never sell raw books as they're more of a hassle for me, seems like work.
  24. Aside from that scene at the end I like the trailer, it looks like they're playing this straight as opposed to the usual chuckle fest. I'm kind of looking forward to it
