    There was a ton of hype leading up to SW #8, I was actually collecting comics at the time and even though I'm not a noted comics historian I remember it well. The hype was "this is the origin of the black costume finally!" and I still remember being somewhat disappointed when the issue finally arrived. I didn't hate it, but it was kind of "meh".

    I'm not sure I agree with how "fresh" it was considering it looked like homeless man's Art Adams I read an interesting theory for why his art was so popular at the time with young people, that it was so crude it was easy to emulate...as opposed to someone like Neal Adams.

    I think people are free to make up their own minds and make their own judgments based on what they see here. If people had any sense of self awareness they'd be able to understand this and not think it's some behind the scenes conspiracy working against them

    I haven't seen it, but my wife did with some work colleagues and she said "I thought the whole thing was mess" and " I think I preferred the Killing Joke to this...and I didn't really like the Killing Joke". With a ringing endorsement like that I'm glad I decided to skip this.

    I would say my experience has been the opposite. There are a large number of people out there paying premiums for newsstand books that are not rare by any stretch ( think mid 80's Marvel's ), but because it's a newsstand and they've heard those are "rare" and / or "more valuable" they pay a premium.
