  1. nice (thumbs u I always dig the Inhumans and at one point was trying to collect all of their appearances in the FF books.
  2. KILLA this book is hard to find in 9.6 and 9.8 because most of them didn't have miswrapped white spine....more common to find well centered copies, thus harder to find ultra high grade books...similar issue with Bat 227 in my opinion.
  3. somewhere between $2100 (price at CL September 2012 auction) and $2999 (Ebay listing price)
  4. hell yeah.... One of the toughest high grade book to buy raw. I gave up trying to buy raw high grade copy of this book because too many flaws are often hidden in that greenish yellow cover. Unlike 227 where flaws will jump out at you...this book's flaw tend to jump out at me after have it in hands.
  5. Doug S. (CaptainTripp) did own one copy but he auctioned off his entire run of X-men a few months back on Heritage. http://comics.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=7063&lotNo=91418
  6. and just as much in modern right? brilliance move in creating a collectible market of modern books...just brilliance.
  7. now 8 years later, I doubt he will say the investment is "not an especially good one" today
  8. yea, too bad you and Gyro weren't around back when I had 2 of the 9.8 slabs, sold one to Cheetah and sold the other one on Ebay.
  9. So I was digging out the Red Sonja books for my next sale thread and found the #13 with the bad miscut. I probably had 3 copies of this issues and they all looked like this.
  10. starting next week thru mid December, I will run my 2nd Mega sale thread. Hopefully I can list 100 books per week. There will be 30 or so slabs and well over 500 bronze raw high grade books and a few hundreds low grade readers. For the high grade books, they are mostly B & C level titles such as Ms Marvel Devil Dinosaur Human Fly Machine Man Howard the Duck Battlestar Galactica Micronauts Tarzan Red Sonja Black Panther Peter Parker Spectacular Spiderman etc...and many more. I will likely put up multiple lots for cheap instead of selling each book individually but the average cost per book will be $3 or less. For those that bought Marvel bronze books from me before, this is the last of the books from the same collection so they are all uncirculated and white pages.
  11. i believe so. I have only one book with the MJ insert. It is the Conan 39 and it has the same one as shown in Part 2 of that website. I bet yours have the same insert plus the extra cover wrap. Yup, having the insert protect the spine very well.
  12. http://www.awe4one.com/NDS-MJ%20Inserts/Insert%20webpage.html As a footnote, Jul and Oct 1973 comics, in addition to containing the MJ inserts, also had an additional inside cover wrap with advertising specifically targeting military members. These wraps, better known as the Mennen and Alka Seltzer/Club inserts, will be covered in a future segment of this series.
  13. Yes, I believe the white cover #1 did come out a few weeks or a month before the black copy but the black cover is more valuable because it is more difficult to find in higher grade? just a guess. the white cover only have 5000 copies and mine is numbered around 1000 I think. I can dig it out and take a pic of the interior cover where there is a mention that this is a special first copy offered.
  14. I have 2 books with the same issue. here is one of them. Sorry for the bad pics. the book has 4 staples. Looks like the book was produced without a cover and then a cover was stapled on after in a 2nd run so now the cover is attached to the interior with the outer staples. I think this is production related and not a "married" kind of issue. shot of the cover and the splash page so you can see how the cover is attached. shot of the centerfold. strangely, on both books that this issue, the first thing I noticed was the bad overhangs on the bottom edges of both books. Normally you see more overhangs on the top or right edge but both have overhangs on all 3 edges. Am I right that this is a production issue?
  15. wow there...missed this post until now..great looking book Scott (thumbs u better than my 3 copies for sure.
