Aging process of paper will accelerate if it is not allowed to breathe from wha I read.

clueless in Sarasota hello, can anyone read this? haha

the long journey I think I will write up a diary of my own collecting experiences over the past 30 years. I need to dig up that very first comic book I bought. I found it a while back and filed it away only to not remember it where. For nostalgic sake, nothing will ever be the same as the first book. Until I find it, I guess we can start from the very beginning. I think part of me that want to start a journal is to leave something behind so that someday, my son can read up on the old man's journey with comic books.

I agree, Jon. The spine really stands out to me. We need Nick to chime in with a grade here. Paging ETANICK. I think the book is a 7.0/7.5..hard to tell if the spine is equally as bad on the bottom half of the front cover. The arts hide most flaws the with the pics provided. there is a hint of 1/2" CB corner crease on the top right front cover? if that is indeed a slight CB crease, then a 7.0 for me, it not a 7.5 other than that, it is a nice well centered book with clean back cover. I do think the 227 is nicer than the 232 from the same seller...since the 232 has a bigger crease on the top right corner with similar creasing on the spine. I had a lot of bad luck buying 232 over the years because the lime green cover hides so many CB creases that can only be seen in hands.

Why buy high grades?
etanick replied to Bodhi396's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
getting from point A to B can be driven with a beater or a $500k car. need to know the time can be achieve wearing a $10 timex watch or $10k Rolex. etc.. That being said... Not everything comes down to money and affordability since there are extremely wealthy people out there that are very frugal in their ways and live very simple and vice versa...plenty of dishwaha BMW driving people out there. I know a guy that lives in a beater mobile home BUT drives a Ferrari...he is very proud of his Ferrari to pick up chicks....only to ask to go to their places instead of taking them back to his "mansion". -

John Romita Artist's Edition Special Version!
etanick replied to Scott Dunbier's topic in Original Comic Art
so the $250 book can only buy if I pick up right? that is a real bummer -
that 0.5 might come back as a 1.0 with tape. Yes I am jaded with the strong price.

I have bought mylars a few times

a TEC 33 4.0 (D copy) went for $13.8k just 3 months ago so I can't see how a 2.0 can get near $10k but I am no guru.

it is friday and it is slow and boring.....so here is my contribution to this thread I was going to include this book in my grading contest but I changed my mind at the last minute so here is the shot for the PQ guess that I didn't use. The book is not a 9.8 but I will let your imagination run wild on what else it could be...note how nice the interior spine look and the corner just from the pic. I withdrew the book from the contest because....no point on slabbing if I am not selling.

The "Early" Action Comics Club (#1-24)
etanick replied to Wayne-Tec's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
an Action #1 4.5 that was slabbed last october is up on Metro and a new 5.0 was graded last week based on the census what is the odd it will be in Heritage's May auction -
i would do the same...I will take a 0.2 lesser copy for a perfect centered copy...assuming we are only talking 0.2 difference as well as the slight miswrap. If the miswrap is the kind that is slightly crooked, then yes for me also. I dislike crooked miswrap more than straight 1/8" or less white spine.
-
solid looking book there with a chance of getting a 9.4, perfect centering and razor sharp corners...and I am sure the PQ is nice also (thumbs u a keeper most of the 9.2/9.4 slabs I saw tend to have miswrap.
