  1. Based upon what you have said here, it almost certainly would increase the value significantly. Scraping off the CT will not do much to hurt the grade of a 4.0-4.5, and the press may be enough to kick it up. Finally the difference between Purple and Blue label is HUGE.
  2. Also, with the 3 small visible front cover spine tics, I say it is not going up in grade under any circumstances.
  3. Even when I was subbing 30+ books per convention I attended, I was never 100% on what books would be 9.8s. I had a hot streak in 2012 of 50 or so in a row. But then I had 3 Walking Deads miss in the same submission. If you are a very good grader to CGC standards, you can confidently say " I believe this is a strong 9.8 candidate," but that is about it. I actually had the book that I thought was my best 9.9 candidate come back a 9.6 LOL. So for all n00bs, if you are paying inflated prices for raw books based upon what the owner predicts they will grade, either get a money back guarantee, or have them grade them before you buy them. Otherwise, study and become a good grader yourself.
  4. Most likely scuffing from friction, and also some from bad plastic. There were tons of inner wells that were shipped out before the case re-design that had that type of damage on them. The white dot that is outside the inner well is weird. But that may be floating paper white fiber that got trapped during encapsulation. Nothing suggests mold to me.
  5. Kathy Garver was the voice of Firestar on the cartoon. Time to break out those "Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends" comics!!
  6. The page color is consistent, so it will not be Cr-Ow. Cr-Ow or any other designation such as that indicates a range of color that evidences itself throughout the page itself to there will be lightening or darkening from Cream to Off-white. That color is extremely consistent. I think it will return OW.
  7. That's a beauty. Honestly, the BWS books are top 5 buzz generating books.
  8. The price is based upon the grade. And GPA has a pretty good history of prior sales, at least upon the sites that it draws its data from. You can get a one month subscription and that can be the foundation of your research. I wouldn't think you would ever get a great deal. That is and always will be one of the premier comic books and Stan Lee signature vehicles for all time. There are many trustworthy sellers that have a strong presence here on the Boards.
  9. There were a couple signings way back in the day. There are far more than one done, but they are extremely scarce in relation to most other creators.
  10. BB used to do Baltimore sometimes. He lives in Great Britain I believe. San Diego has also been attended in the past.
  11. It is not Joe Orlando. It was common for many resellers to write their price in grease pencil somewhere on the book.
  12. Yeah, that appears to be it American Comics ---> Another Universe until time ran out.
  13. American was an excellent mail order business, and I used to order a fair amount of stuff from them - it was usually books i wanted to speculate on, or hot books that I missed. They were still around during the crash according to the ads on the comics from that time. (I was out of comics from 1993-1998). My educated guess would be that they got pounded on the early Image books and stuck it out for another couple years through the Valiant crash and the bad girl craze and then folded their tent (or had their tent folded for them by their creditors).
  14. Here is what MyComicShop.com has for the Batman / Hulk book - looks like two printing of that one. I would guess the rest of them are on that site as well. It's as good a start as any. https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?TID=98781
  15. Such a great comic related story - the love of the artform..
  16. - let's get both of ours slabbed in lucite. What's up bud?
  17. This is a perfect example of what happens when the right people do not see an auction. This is why values are so hard to pin down on these crazy rare books. Two or three appropriately interested parties and this could easily have been $500+.
  18. I had 7.0 on 32 and 6.5 on #1 but I am a tighter grader than you. Or, I mean, "that guy" is a tighter grader.
  19. I'm pretty sure he hates Scotch. So you did good.
  20. So, I mentioned this tangentially the other day. I was thinking about creating NFTs of my most amazing SS books. But then I realized that all my pictures are terrible, blurry and festooned with my own toes and feet. So there went that idea.
