  1. Sweet book. greggy would love that copy because it has a giant nutsack crease.
  2. A heads up to the Boards: A month ago Gaijin2020, an international boardie, popped the BIN on an Avengers 17 in my last sales thread. I sent him a PM letting him know that I had no idea what shipping was going to be, but I suggested that he pay $15 for shipping and I would cover the rest. No response to PM and no sale. Maybe I was way off on shipping or something, but ignored PMs are lame. I don't care whether he is on the Probation list or not, but I do want everyone to know what may be in store for them with this guy. --S.
  3. Way too easy. touche Only White Goodman is allowed to say "touche'" to himself.
  4. You made me Google FDS. Thanks for the link... (thumbs u Some of us aren't as in-touch with our femanine side as Sean... Like you've never encountered a little Funky Dugout Spray in the medicine cabinet . . .
  5. You know...some of you guys are just d-bags. And I mean that with all sincerity. When I started that thread about Filter81...He suggested I do it as I was making a large purchase and recently joined the forum. I didn't know anyone on here and to make me feel comfortable making a multiple thousand dollar purchase he suggested I get feedback on him. I'll continue to ask for feedback on sellers on here and will expect that the helpful people will continue to provide guidance. Those who like to think they have attained some grand master status because of your tenure or post count can blow it out your arse. Just because someone is new to this forum, doesn't mean they need to be chastised every time they ask something that might have been asked before or is obvious to you. If that is the case, go create a closed forum so all of you who don't like "noobs" can sit around and play circle jerk. You know, someone needs 2 Pamprin, a Midol, and a shot of FDS probably wouldn't hurt either. And I mean that with all sincerity.
  6. This is a huge base with lots of intelligence, logistics, finance etc. types of jobs and lots of higher ranking commissioned and non-commissioned officers. There is also an absolutely huge part of the economy of the area servicing the base itself. Lots of people with excellent jobs moving to the area for at least semi-permanent residence. Much more likely to bring collections than a place that is a training base or a base out of which regular enlisted men are being shipped to and fro. Plus the aliens are in Hangar 18. PS: FYI not a lot of aircraft carriers in Ohio. Lots of C-130s though.
  7. There are several of these in Ohio. My highest grossing sale of all time was for a book I paid my LCS $40 for. and what book was that? The Cap 110 that sold for $3009 in Sept/Oct of 2009. exactly the sort of semi-expensive in 9.2 book but not such an obvious book to send in to CGC even if gorgeous that can easily slip through the cracks at a shop like this. Lots of dealers rock this particular store. Matt Nelson and Steve Ritter had just ransacked it 2 days before, the last time I was in there. I have gotten tons of books for discounted 9.2 guide that have wound up in 9.4, 9.6 and 9.8 slabs. which makes me wonder how a place like this continues to get good stuff? seriously, are there comic hoards all over ohio? my LCSes get a steady stream of new vintage material, but if .5% of the BA and earlier material is 9.4 or better I would be shocked. maybe all the high grade comic hoards in NYC have already been brought to market (which would make some sense given rents/storage costs). This is just my personal theory, but I attribute it to there being a huge Air Force base 3 miles away. Lots of people coming in and out. All the time. Bound to be plenty of collectors in the mix. x infinity
  8. That's all there is. It's the only problem with the ongoing viability of the series. Jeremy's work is so painstakingly detailed, I don't know how he could do more than a couple a year.
  9. I just need to warn you that adding Chuck Norris's signature will probably bump up the grade to 9.8. There is a risk that CGC will give it a purple label if they detect that Chuck Norris's signature was only added to improve the grade. I still think that it is worth the risk. Dan Here's my anticipatory post:
  10. Here is one of the NEC Newsletter Tick appearances. I think it is the second one, but I am not positive. Whatever the case, they are rare and this one is cherry.
  11. Odd little Star digest that I have only run across once:
  12. Great pics Boomtown. Where are the 20 centers? Batman 251, Superboy/Legion 197 and Supergirl 1 all exist in multi-pak format.
  13. For Real....? Did you tell O'Barr about my past trolling on the Board?? I said sorry before the con started. Now I got it on why on the last day of the con he was flipping and flapping my book by the corner. we are still cool (thumbs u but you know now on here I wasn't lying. I just need the people who where there to be boardies also to close out the rest of my story. Anybody? Anybody? Yep. I wanted to get an O'barr b/c I had missed him the last two shows. And no, I did not encourage any bad actions by anyone. Roy says you are a good guy so that was all I needed to hear. He was trying to track you down on Saturday so we could shake hands.

  15. I thought about keeping it. It literally looked like it had been printed the week before. But the Boston had gone for $3500 or $3700 just months earlier and I couldn't justify just having it sit in one of my boxes.

  18. I am really sorry for what happened. It doesn't make any sense, though. It certainly isn't the first copy of that book that he has signed with vigils sig on it. And he has even signed at least one (mine) on the front cover, which he never used to do. Very weird and disturbing.
  19. Yikes, this thread has me nostalgic for backbiting comments about how much celebrity SS sucks . . .
  20. Agree with you 100% that it wasn't part of the original post, but it is interesting to think about where the two lines - rarity and investability - cross. At what point is something so rare that people throw their hands up.
  21. The yellow labels were mistakes, plain and simple. Absolutely stunning books! Congrats.
  22. I would love to get him to sign a picture of him getting cold-cocked by the NorthSide Kings dude.
