  1. Now if all those sigs were on a #1. I think it would create a major time "pair-of-ducks something" that would stop the universe right there and only someone like JJ teamed up with Lady Gaga could save the galaxy from the evil robot kings with another awesome Signature book. But seriously JJ, They are not Jon's.
  2. That is nice. You also got Garth to sign on the steeple instead of Jesse Custer's face, which is a big plus!
  3. It is not super rare. But demand far outstrips supply and it is hard not to go ahead and cash out at the kind of bread that the #1s are bringing. I started reading the series at #6 or #7 I can't even remember, and still don't have the earlier floppies. I bought 6 or 7 (and read it), then the rest off the stands and waited until the 1st trade was published to read them and get caught up. Consistently one of the best 3 or 4 books I read each month. Come on in, the water is warm and full of zombies!
  4. $12 is far off. GPA is completely irrelevant when it comes to this book because, as is often the case with these oddball indie keys, when it comes to CGC'ed copies, people only want a 9.8. Which is why the GPA averages are pretty much the same for 9.6, 9.4 and 9.2 copies of this book. I sold a VF/NM raw copy on ebay for $60 a while back - have moved several copies at shows in the $75-80 range - and would gladly pay in the same range for a true NM copy. If you listed an accurately-graded 9.2 copy for $40-50 on ebay, it would sell pretty much immediately. What other books have this characteristic? Being able to grab a CGC 9.6 for under $80 seems like an absolute steal if people are willingly paying $50 for a raw 9.2. There are tons of Copper books like this. The Avatar Goon #1 in 9.4-9.6 raw goes for more than slabbed. Same with the DHP Special that has the 1st Sin City in it. I believe that there are tons of other examples as well, but there not enough GPA slab sales to back me up. Once it gets into the CGC crowd there is a huge contingent that is 9.8 or nothing. But out in the real world NM and NM+ raws go for nice prices
  5. i'm sure you're far from the only one with this experience. the rest are trying to keep it under their hats. Same reaction i always had to the zillf4 and bobcat threads.
  6. I paid $50 for a nice raw copy six or eight years ago. Felt good about it then and better about it now.
  7. I agree with you, Jerel. For whatever reason, I have always been turned off by the "multiple mini-series" format, as opposed to running it as an ongoing series. So I tend to read L&K in trade form, and have since the 1st mini. But the stories are great, and I do think there will be folks who will want the original comics more as time goes on.
  8. That is just Papaw Overstreet being an old fart that doesn't care about anything printed after 1964. All the cool kids know that book is the shizzy.
  9. 1st off, Secondly, I agree. Threads started by lunatics are the most fun evah!
  10. Continuing this discussion is completely inappropriate. Clearly there is a tremendous amount going on with FIREFLY and it appears that the Boards have stepped up, once again, to help out. Some people may know more about the situation than others, (and everyone knows more than I do), but from what has been posted it is weird and sad and tragic. No one will know all the whys and wherefores and it is counterproductive to keep doing it in the CPG thread. I do hope for better times for FIREFLY's family, and that the auction achieves its desired result.
  11. Why? This actually reminds me of a time when this was a close-knit community of actual collectors, most of which have unfortunately drifted away over the years, rather than the crop of malcontent speculators and ComicInvestors that took their place. Fixed that for ya.

  13. So was he selling the book or running an auction? If his asking price was $350, then why in the world were people offering $450 and $500 for it? And if it were the case that he got an offer from a collector for $500, and his asking price was now $500, why didn't he just complete his transaction for the $500 and be done with it? Makes me wonder what he would have done if you would have said at $350. He probably would have sold it. Finghé told me to buy it, but I just couldn't justify the price. Yeah, yeah, it *might* be worth a lot more, but I also might be taking a bath on it, and I'm not in buy mode for the collection. You should have bought it. Comic collector FAIL.
  14. I don't care what anyone says, that is definitely a TMNT book. {swoon}
  15. It depends which Elflord you are talking about. The barry blair self-published larger size version (like the ones that Juggernaut has in his sig line from time to time) are extremely rare. I have seen published that the print runs are believed to be 500 or 200. I think Sulipa stated affirmatively in the 04 or 05 Overstreet that Barry Blair confirmed 200. The Aircel version is plentiful.
