  1. My recollection is that the oldest 10 is a dental hygiene giveaway promo comic from the 40's. I will try to track down the name.
  2. I would not be surprised if the erasure mark would hit the grade really hard. I think without the erasure mark it is 6.5 -7.0 (mostly that low because of the back cover stain. CGC hammers staining.) and there is a risk of there being an additional discount for the erasure mark. I would guess 6.0 bottom end. Structurally, it is a VERY nice book.
  3. My bedroom was festooned with these stickers, as well as the larger DC stickers (which did not have any "clever" word bubbles, as I recall.) Thank you for posting this!!!
  4. I was 10 or 11 when I read that, and even at that age I knew it was tongue in cheek, but I had no idea the backstory. Great link. Deepest sympathies to the Wein family.
  5. Based on the metaphysical certitude likelihood possibility of it being a shill, I would never take that 2nd chance offer.
  6. It is an obscene amount of money right now. Wow!!
  7. I have done it both ways. Any of the pressers can do it, if it is pre-sig. But then you run the risk of there being pressable defects put on the book while it is being signed. Not much of a risk with the good facilitators. If you get it done post-signature, it has to be done by someone who has an SS agreement with CGC. I am not sure who can do it right now, other than CCS.
  8. This is a super interesting topic. It would get more play if it were in the regular CG (or even better, in Gold) instead of the movie/TV sub-forum.
  9. I'm pretty sure my best of all time is a Cap 110. Bought for $40 (raw) sold for $3009 (CGC 9.8)
  10. What must have been going on at the printing press when these 361s were running? There is a 6, an 8 and a 12 (I think). I picture a guy completely asleep with his feet up on a desk.
  11. A lot of it depends on factors that, when analyzed, are pretty logical: (1) What is the condition of the book and how desirable is it? (2) What is the rarity and desirability of the signature? (3) How available is the combination of the grade and the signature? A fair number of books trade often enough to have a GPA baseline. Those are what they are. The real tough analysis is on books that rarely trade, oddities, rarities and legitimate one-of-a-kind (or no longer available) sigs. You are exactly correct that the Bid and Ask is often a massive delta. Often you have to wait for the right purchaser that puts the same amount of emphasis on the (1)-(3) equation that the Seller does.
  12. This is a comics chat board. It seems logical to have these types of questions. There are plenty of places to read about the suffering and to figure out how one is going to help. I'm not a huge fan of this type of thread either, but it is in line with what this Board is all about.
  13. No one suggested that. Or even hinted at it. But keep on truckin'
  14. Adams is not a very good spend as it relates to re-sale. I would get the book that you already have done, with the idea that you can get as much out of it as you can, but at least you will have avoided spending even more on a better book. I have done about 20 NA books, and al of them were done when he charged nothing, and I still find that it is not much of a boost to blue label prices, nor is there much demand.
  15. Hey Buzz - Michael can chime in, but "chased" means paparazzi style laying in wait and/or following around celebs for sigs.
  16. Thanks bud. I was very happy how it turned out.
  17. So many great memories of Andy's show - back when it was at 21st and Shadeland.
  18. I got a Kiel done when he was at Cincinnati. It is a Sean Forney "Jaws" sketch cover. http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=19047&GSub=248
