Nah, this book keeps cropping up all the time, I am in the market for a copy to go with my original in my sig line.
I maybe bid on 1 every couple of months, the last one went really high at £211 see scan below, my budget was £100 and I had doubled that as missed out on a few just over the 50-60 quid mark.
A year or so ago I should have grabbed a copy, the cover is a classic and the original is real pricey now, so this may be the only way to own it now but his pricing is delusional.
I was thinking he meant this was the only slabbed copy but the census shows 6 blue and 1 resto

A nice T&P stamped Prize Black Magic #4 from 1961 on the bay currently - I have three examples in the files for this issue - very few others though:
Cover inspiration for Seven....
I have the first 3 issues of this book, just checked and no stamps

Did anyone ever see a copy of Black magic Album #2 as advertised?
I have never seen a copy of it.
3/6 must have been a lot to pay at the time I guess even for 160 pages

Always loved this cover and one day hope to get a better grade
Yep, love it, tough book in any grade, I been looking for an upgrade for years with no joy.
Glad to see you have it in hand as I saw there was a moment of worry.

Had to post this here, there are some pence variants in the mix. More than I can pay for the collection, but I've got to admit I would love the provenance on these:
Seems like a crazy price already for what is there in book terms, I suppose they still missed a trick as if they could have got a deal with CGC to slab them "from the collection of Freddie Mercury" then who knows

Unlike you two, I actively sought out low grade books.
When I was at a con, I’d concentrate on big hero books first, and with the left over $30 or so, I’d find a PHM or three. They were always there, and always fun.On 7/22/2023 at 3:21 AM, Frisco Larson said:I was the same way pal. I just wanted the books and a vg fit the bill much better than a vf for me, mostly because I could get more of them! I was lucky though, we had guys like John Hauser coming into town with clean mid-grade copies with killer pages and they were very affordable, especially when you picked up a stack!
Yeah, when I was a kid, it wasnt just cash that was limited, the comics were very limited too, here in the UK we didnt have many comic shops and the few we did have didnt have access to a lot of stuff as it wasnt always distributed, so you just had to grab anything you could, the grade wasnt even an issue for me, thats why my collection is all over the place condition wise.
There was a short lived bookshop near me that sold comics based on age
1 x 1950s comic = £1.00
3 x 1960s comics = £1.00
5 x 1970s comics = £1.00
I pretty much always bought 5 x 1970s comics with my hard earned £1.00

I've always thought this was a cool little run and wondered why it ended, you know, beyond the obvious conclusion that it may not have sold well. Any actual insight on the topic gang? What's not to love? Kirby back at the company, drawing cover duties! Ditko, Kirby, Powell & Heck on the inside! Seems like a home run to me!
Yep, totally agree, cool run, I have upgraded my rough looking #1 but I must not have scanned it before it disappeared into the oblivion of my rooms, found this one though and I know you always get a kick out of seeing these British books

Yeah, I am not sure, if he did mean that, he wrote it as a double bluff so it seems a lot rarer than it is.
Its not the way I would write it it I meant that.
