Actually I ‘sold’ my collection here on consignment for about $200k, but that does not entitle me to anything. I just want to make it clear I am ‘invested’ in the community. Appreciate the discussion of course, but again - the ‘junk donkey’s’ were told to take a hike and the ‘PIF’ thread went poof Partaking in contests and holiday gift exchanges contains certain risks. Better to discuss the future of such threads than to entertain grievances from an area that takes place outside the marketplace

Was there a marketplace violation? This sounds like the same situation as the ‘junk donkey’ complainers. Too bad, but what did you expect and how is this a marketplace violation?

So I put my comics in a storage locker(Climate controlled)
NP_Gresham replied to fastballspecial's topic in Comics General
to OP What are you keeping them for? What are they worth? How long do you plan to keep them there? I don’t see how books without ‘value’ or even ‘sentimental’ are worth it. What are your costs here? Storage fees (x expected duration) loss and damage from moving and storage. Climate control costs. Pallets, tarps etc - physical storage items. Then your time. What exactly is your long term plan? Move into a palace? Sell them when they ‘mature’ in value? Sorry but this has disaster written all over it -
CGC announces changes to label notations, see what remains?

Seems ready-made for the seller who was taping all those GA consignment books. When they mention “prominent” members, I immediately think of their shenanigans -

I think stock market declines and a slowing RE market may be trickling down to the collectibles market.

As a buyer, I would never buy on FB or any other venue without protection. It took me a while here before I knew who to trust. Ebay protects the buyer and any ‘savings’ from FB or other venues quickly evaporate when some scammer takes the money and runs

Will Steve continue to turn a blind eye to the “Ewerts” of the world? Will his incompetence now spread across collecting?

I’ll PM you the answer

Was feeling a little nostalgic so I went through the old “VCC” thread My eyes were immediately drawn to a particular book Spot the variant Not me, but I just love finding these things even when it is someone else.

His FDQ exit after getting called out is a must read for the total duche-baggery on display. Starts out a little apologetic and then it quickly spirals into threats of physical violence. This guy is total psycho.

Book Sold With Missing Page - Who Is Responsible?
NP_Gresham replied to Math Teacher's topic in Comics General
I consigned with Jimjum12 and it was disclosed as a 0.5 incomplete. I asked that it be cracked when sold. Also had a G-S X-Men #1 in an old red modern slab. It had major foxing. I could not determine if it was pre or post slabbing. It was stated in the sale as a 7.0 and sold as a 7.0 in a red 9.0. I disclose what I know and grade conservatively. I generally trust that others do the same. I left the X-men book in the slab because it was disclosed. -
Book Sold With Missing Page - Who Is Responsible?

Been there Done that Page count is 100% on me. I can count, I may not be good at micro- trimming and CT, but counting… 100% on me. As a buyer, I count, notify and return ASAP. As a seller I offer my apologies for my laziness and give 100% back right away and may let the buyer keep the book if it is not AF#15 or something. Sorry this happened to the OP, but you have to own your laziness. If you wait this long you have to own it. But Let the seller know, and if they offer a return great, if they don’t I would accept an apology and leave it at that. I would however take note if the seller offers no explanation or apology and place them on my personal ‘do not buy list’. Just an FYI, very early on I bought an ASM#2 on eBay. I never really looked at it, but when I asked my LCS to sub it for me the owner told me ‘you know you are missing the pin- up page?” Lesson learned. I count now, EVERYTHING EVERY TIME! So I subbed the ASM #2 anyways. It came back 3.0 …. BLUE! Anyone can make a mistake, don’t feel bad about that. Just learn from it and move on. -
Definitely blocking Thank you for the explanation I hope it was not too valuable a book. Real tool this one

mostly Marvel - a few FEAR; ASM 252 NM (raw and slab)
NP_Gresham replied to grebal's topic in Golden/Silver/Bronze Age Only
I am 50/50 There are a small number of eBay sellers who can grade really well. And while there are far more sellers who can grade well here, there are still a couple who seem to grade books while driving by on a galloping horse -

Does Expertise/Experience no longer matter to be a dealer?
NP_Gresham replied to Krydel4's topic in Comics General
I am not a dealer, but that dealer is in business Once he told you no, you proceed to knock the book down. I would wager that there is no way he was going to ‘talk you up’ to full price? As a business person, time is money. I wouldn’t waste one more second on your Winey Azz. Take “no” for an answer and stop wasting peoples time.
