  1. I'll be revitalizing my August selling thread (in the SA BA forum) this evening by updating what's left with lower prices (for the raws anyways) and adding more early ASMs.
  2. This word makes me laugh every time you write it. Just be glad he's writing it and not swinging it.
  3. Good point...although, based on the thread, looks like manicnerd paid for shipping. Seems like it's more about the point of the matter...there's a board member who didn't hold up his end of a deal, so wouldn't we want that person officially on the list - that would be in all of our interests, right? PIF has been a trainwreck on several occasions. All I am suggesting is that they handle their own business there, and not gum up the real PL. It's probably a good idea for PIF to have it's own internal blacklist. If somebody claims something in there and never does their end they should be banned from ever again using PIF until they square up. Imagine how big the PL would become if every PIF sender that shipped late or the item was damaged in shipping had to be put on PL. How would they refund a freebie to get off PL? I haven't seen anyone suggest putting people on the PL for bad shipping or shipping late, or for any other reason other than someone never shipped out what they said they would send. Why do people keep going back to that? No one has even suggested it that I've seen. What we are suggesting is explicitly, if you don't deliver the item you said you would ship you are to be added to the PL. Nothing more. I've read through a lot since that post. Would the 30 day rule apply? If so then late shipping (time) would be a factor Also I read now that the victim sent $15 (or was it $16) to cover shipping for this "freebie". That's a whole other ball of wax. It's not a freebie anymore.

  5. This isn't the original thread right, but the second started after the first went *poof*? This was the very first major drama in the forum sine I joined and that thread was legend! Well there was hammer getting exposed just before this too...
  6. no Only because of a technicality. In spirit he sounds like the type of clown that belongs there. I was getting CAP freak vibs...
  7. That's exactly what should have happened here. Otherwise, why threaten the buyer with the PL and then back out? It doesn't make any sense at all other than to bring his name up on here. Pretty much as I stated earlier this morning in a reply in this thread about amends by paying him but apparently he wants me to get down like James Brown and suck his coo coo.... Holy Krap dude your heading into HOS territory with that kind of attitude.
  8. HA. I logged on and saw over 200 new posts today. Butthurt. Lots of butthurt... Lets not let this turn us against each over. It looks like the buyer was stringing the seller along (I'm leaving names out). This is probably probation list worthy but if the seller puts him on the list he's required to leave the door open for the buyer to get off the list by paying for them. But the seller doesn't want anything more to do with this buyer and I understand why. It's sort of a catch 22 huh?
  9. notify him that you're posting in this thread, give him 3 days, then out him and put him on the probation list. there's some directions in the first post of some of these threads somewhere.... Much appreciated. I could be wrong, but if the seller is who I think it is, this would not be the first time a probation discussion has been started about his tardy shipping habits. Who are we talking about? There's no need to be shy. A certain deity...of the sound caused by lightning.
  10. I'll be putting up a sales thread tonight. New stuff will include pre-Nick Fury Strange Tales most in nicer shape (6.0-9.0). 116 - 134 a near complete run missing only 127
  11. I've never heard of a Qualified 2.0. It goes against the principal of Qualified: a major defect on an otherwise high grade book. You're saying a book that would grade out as a 9.8 White Page is in the same condition of a Universal 0.5, which could include a missing page in ADDITION to a myriad of accumulated defects such as major tears, brown/brittle pages, extensive writing on the covers and inside, detached cover etc etc etc. So a book with all of these aforementioned defects would be the same as a 9.8W with a missing page? There's 0.5 Qualified - Married covers or Incomplete books can garner that. For example: Certification #: 0151899001 Title: Amazing Fantasy Issue: 15 Issue Date: 8/62 Issue Year: 1962 Publisher: Marvel Comics Grade: 0.5 Pedigree: INCOMPLETE Page Quality: OFF-WHITE Label Text: STAPLES REPLACED. (Last page missing does not affect story. Moderate amount of tape on cover & interior.) INCOMPLETE. Grade Date: 04/16/2008 Category: Qualified Art Comments: Stan Lee story Steve Ditko art Jack Kirby cover Key Comments: Origin & 1st appearance of Spider-Man (Peter Parker). 1st appearance of Uncle Ben & Aunt May. That makes no sense to me. Aunt May and Uncle Ben first appeared in STRANGE TALES 97! I have to wonder if CGC mislabeled that as a Qualified. It makes absolutely no sense to have a 0.5 Green Label. Those were Aunt May and Uncle Ben prototypes in ST 97, not the actual characters.
  12. He's in it for the boners not the money. I'll put you on ignore for $200.
  13. That was one of my favorite video games! Intruder Alert! Intruder Alert!
  14. Yes. Again, buying and selling raw books online is a risk. At some point, people are going to get fugged by a restored book. I know I have. At that point it is not unreasonable to begin a conversation between seller and buyer to discuss equitable terms. Throwing your hands up and saying, "This isn't my fault!" doesn't really solve the problem. When Best Buy sells a defective laptop, the store isn't the one that inspects the device for quality but it will be the one that must issue the refund to the disappointed buyer. This is why raw books often sell for 25%-50% below GPA. The buyer is taking the risk of it being overgraded or restored. However if a large amount of money was involved and a lot of the books were restored the seller should make some level of compensation. Example 1: Seller sells 20 SA ASMs all decently graded at F to VF to a buyer for $1000, 2/3s of GPA ($1500). It turns out one book had a tiny drop of pro color touch which was almost impossible to see. I think the buyer got a deal and shouldn't make a fuss about it. Example2: Seller sells a pair of SA semi keys from a collection combined for $2500 (gpa is $3000). It turns out both are restored and together are worth $1500. Seller should offer a full refund for the books, or pay a partial refund to the buyer. If not they a crook. "When Best Buy sells a defective laptop, the store isn't the one that inspects the device for quality but it will be the one that must issue the refund to the disappointed buyer. " In Best Buy I've seen open box TVs, phones, even refrigerators offered at 30%-50% off but no returns. I've asked about these and they said if it's faulty call the manufacturer for a replacement (1 year manufacturers' warranty) . Unless you buy one of their extended warranties...
  15. Yep You mean older slabs from before the change due to possible grade inflation? "possible" he says! Not every piece of tape on a comic was holding the cover on. But it's hard to tell once encapsulated since you can't open the book up to examine it.

  17. Cool story, bro. Tell your positive, helpful moderators that pulling stuff from someone's sales thread with zero explanation, or pulling posts in general without explaining what was wrong is neither positive nor helpful. The cops in your analogy don't just issue blank tickets; you're told why you're being stopped, what you did wrong, and why you're being ticketed. According to Arch, explaining why a post got pulled would be too time consuming But it would be nice to know why one gets wrists slaps...
  18. I didn't want to derail his thread, but I don't understand if it's limited to 40 or 50. Seems like it's limited to 50 (40+10). agreed, plus every additional box sold over 40 decreases one of the original buyers odds right? A 1/40 change is better than a 1/50...He gets more money, just adds 10 more raw boxes without increasing the size of the "prize" Yes. If I bid because I thought I had a 1:40 chance of getting the good one then suddenly the goal posts got moved and my chances were now 1:50 I'd want my money back.
  19. If you thought it was 8.5 and you got a 9.4 you might want to leave it alone. Of course you have the book in and and saw it raw... If you're certain the defects are ncb and could benefit from a press well then...
  20. even if it's against the PO's rules? I am not sure how this differs from paypal rule to this one? For years, it was up to the individual post masters to decide if comics were allowable under media mail. I think they are officially trying to close that loop hole now. Since it is in B&W that comics are not allowable under media mail, who is held responsible if that package isn't forwarded or is with postage due? Is it the fault of the seller or buyer? With the influx of transient sellers we are getting on these boards, I would hate to see someone get burned over shipping. It's not a stretch to ask this rule be added. I've received packages sent via Media Mail and the post office caught them. Just this year, someone sold me 8 raw books, charged me $5 for shipping, and the total cost was $11.50 combined. The package arrived with $11 due for additional postage because (1) the seller used Priority shipping box tops to protect the books, (2) the inspection note was included clarifying comics are not allow, so (3) the USPS charged Priority Mail instead of Parcel Post because of Item (1). Better to nip this in the bud now. Otherwise, you deal with any escalations later when a seller feels they shouldn't have to cover the additional expense. For years I've been shipping everything Express Mail, using Priority boxes as packing material inside, and praying they rip open the box and change the fee to Priority and give me a refund. Upgrades are allowed I've been told. If you want to upgrade to express and your priority box fits into the express box that's fine.
  21. I question the authenticity of that sig - shouldn't it say "FU Honky", or something like that? "for the Dorks" as opposed to "for eBay"
