  1. I told my wife that the value of whatever collectibles I have when I die will be de minimis compared to the life insurance and other assets, so she should just have a garage sale and offer them all for a buck each, just the way I bought almost all of them!
  2. When you factor in the .5 grades that come back when the books are incomplete, I'm sure the average is not too pretty at all!
  3. GPA showing another SME 15 CGC 9.8 selling two weeks ago for $3,950, non-eBay venue. Is there a way to tell where it was sold through the GPA website?
  4. I read recently on another message board that ConditionFreak, the former Cleveland Policeman had died.
  5. This film is a pale imitation of the original. No need for it to be made at all. Very disappointing. The filmmakers should be ashamed.
  6. You sure about that? They've been charging a fee for an "instant transfer" since last year. Regular old transfer that takes a day or two is still free. Just transferred some dough a few days ago. I didn't even realize there was an instant transfer option. I immediately thought "the man" was hassling me!
  7. Paypal now charging a fee to transfer money to your bank account. Used to be a fee free transaction.
  8. So far, taking your advice would've cost me between $500-1,000.
  9. Up for a week on eBay and it appears to have sold for full ask. Census shows four 9.8s added to the census since the movie was announced in early December....super-duper common in high grade, you say?
  10. I don't think these 9.8 prices a$re sustainable at all, this is just not a popular character. We all know speculators drive a lot of the market for books but at least with other characters, like Iron Fist, there's a bit more interest in the character. We'll see, maybe I'm wrong and in a 1-2 years the book in 9.8 and 9.6 will be selling for more than where it is now but I doubt it. Someone put up a 9.8 on eBay for $4,000.
  11. I hate this new quote functionality! Anyway, Special Marvel Edition 15 is what I'm talking about!
  12. Someone pounced on that 9.8 last week for $3,500! New all time high price. edit to add, I think the census drag on this book is because it is from 1973 and doesn't make the modern tier. Now that it's moving up, more will be showing up!
  13. I sold a raw Rai 0 on eBay that I graded as VF- 7.5. The feedback I received from the buyer was brutal! At least it was positive feedback!
  14. Bronze Age X-Men (back issues) is when I knew I wanted to be a comic collector, specifically when I got to the end of X-Men 99 and the little blurb at the end said something like Next Issue - The New Team Vs. The Old Team! It was a hand me down comic from one of my older brothers, coverless, and it was completely different than any comic I could remember. Before this revelation, I was stuck with hokey DC Superman stories or Archies.
  15. I guess I'm not being fair - they said it was vibrational scuffing to the inner well that happened during shipping from FLA to NY rather than a failure of their QC process.
  16. Unfortunately for too many people "safe shipping" equates to 1) I put it in a box and can't see it anymore, so it's properly packed, and 2) I brought it to the post office and handed it over to them without dropping it or damaging it, so the post office should be able to get it to you without any problems because...magic.
  17. What exactly does QC entail, label check? I mean when the slabbed books get back to you and then you notice a problem that requires them to be returned to CGC for fixing. Does that extra time count as part of the turn times??
  18. So when the books finally come back and need to go back immediately due to QC issues, does that extra time for the reholder count as part of the turn around time??
