  1. Chuck already has the inside track on this - it's going to be called Mile High III - Revenge of the Newsstands!
  2. One of my invoices has been Verified - VERIFIED I TELL YOU!!
  3. Come on now, I was as nerdy as they made them back in the 70s and even a Marvel-Zombie like me knew Stan as a cheesy-cornball-huckster first and foremost. Nothing wrong with acknowledging that Stan was shill-tastic.
  4. I had Stan sign my Fumetti comic - it's about a VG and I love it!
  5. RIP Stan! It was fun to have you as a client for while, even if I was just a cog in the wheel of your "east coast legal team". Growing up a young Marvel Zombie, it truly was serendipitous to be able to represent you once I was all growed up.
  6. Me too, and when I do I always say - sometimes there is an end-user.
  7. There was some sort of snafu with their submissions tracking and all CCS-Rec'd were converted to just Received even though they were still with CCS. Good news, however, once they actually get to CGC you should get an email from CGC and they will update the invoice date to the date of that email, and you can then rest easy that Received will now mean received by CGC.
  8. The one underneath has a UPC box! edit - sorry, the top pic made it look like the top cover didn't have one. That would have been some bad ultra-bad workmanship! You can see from the bottom right corner comparison that they are from completely different books however.
  9. "Let me tell you what I do know. Every day I come by CGC's submissions page and check my submissions. And I go to the forums and make a few posts and have a few laughs, and it's great. You know what the best part of my day is? It's for about 10 seconds from when I pull up the submissions tracking page. Because I think maybe I'll look there and see that they're past RECEIVED. I don't know much, but I know that."
  10. Got a few goodies this weekend, including a dozen DCUs. Also found a random double cover Web of Spidey.
  11. The rule in play w/r/t these "instant collectibles" is FOMO.
  12. Or, as some nitwit would say on Craigslist - that Spidey head means it's signed.
  13. I once saw Irwin Hasen pick up a fan clear over his head and hurtle him down the artist alleyway for talking smack about Dondi! Honest!
  14. I paid $75 for the Steranko and $125 for the Kirby. I went to the Bohemia MEGA Yard Sale!! once earlier this year. The dollar bins had nothing of any value. There was some of the "good stuff" available but it was priced accordingly so I haven't returned but keep getting the ads every week multiple times a week sometimes.
  15. It was pretty cool finding the signed and numbered Steranko print, not really a topper in and of itself, I'll agree. But, that's not quite the end of the story! So, the wife secures possession of the Steranko print and heads back downstairs to the checkout area in the front room. She sees something there by the jewelry table, takes a pic and texts it to me. She asks by text - is this something you are interested in? I, still blundering, am upstairs looking at some book books. I don't feel the vibration from my phone. Wife comes upstairs, she says check your phone, do you want this? I look at the phone and see the pic - yes please! I shove her out the door to go stake claim to the item in the pic:
  16. I went to a nearby tag sale this morning with the wife. I was looking for a print that I thought was a Jim Steranko from a pic I saw online. We got there at 8:30 thinking it started at 9:00, but it was actually 10:00. So, we signed up (numbers 34 and 35 on the list!) and then went to an old breakfast place we used to frequent when we lived closer, but hadn't been to in years. Back to the sale, lining up outside the house and finally the first wave going in at 10:15 - thirty people only so we're still on the outs. Another 20 minutes and no one's come out. Finally, I guess they decide the house can hold more, so they waive the next batch into the house, including the wife and I! I go blundering about into the den looking for the print, but I'm not seeing it. My wife, obviously the brains of the operation, asks one of the sales staff where the prints is - kids room upstairs! She heads up, sees it leaning against a dresser on the floor, and snaps it up an instant before some nearby man had started to show some interest! So thanks to the wife, we've had breakfast and now have this:
  17. I posted flyers on some local supermarket bulletin boards years ago. Man, I've seen a lot of crappy comics!
  18. I just rescued that Jonny Quest from the local bargain bin. I can't pass up any Dave Stevens covers for a buck!
  19. "I should've used Fast Track!" is an oft-heard lament.
