  1. So my dream of doing a walk through when I find an Action 1 or a Tec 27 for cover price still lives!
  2. Obviously, because they were signed, you put them in a "special" place so they wouldn't get lost or mixed in with the unsigned masses before they sold. So look there, problem solved!
  3. Buyer didn't open the slab believing it was safer to ship the book in the PGX case. The buyer could've thought or done a million different things, who cares? Bottom line is - buyer bought something and then didn't make sure he got what he paid for. Of course he did. CGC didn't need to be involved, but they are at least as capable (to be very polite to the OP) of assessing the comic as is the OP. The only reason I could see the seller not taking a return is due to the longer-than-usual time between the sale and the request to return the item. He didn't need CGC to tell him there were pages missing; that could've been accomplished ten minutes after he received the book and at that point the buyer should be able to return it for a full refund. Unless the seller agreed to extend the time on a possible return to include the weeks or months needed for CGC to become involved then it's tough luck on the buyer.

  5. The buyer didn't need CGC to tell him two pages were missing. All he needed to do was take the book out of the PGX slab and inspect it. If the buyer can't tell two pages are missing after inspecting, the buyer shouldn't be dropping multi-thousands on such items.
  6. This thread is (or should be) a safe haven from the ethical warriors. We share our finds here, not how much we paid.
  7. Has anyone identified which reprints we're looking at yet?
  8. Got ya beat. 4 books at CCS since 6/8/18 on same request then off to grading. 2 months solid so far forgot to add, another one got there about 3 weeks ago, still says "Rec CCS Required" and not "At CCS" like the first 4. Edited 4 minutes ago by Photoc Note to self - develop amnesia with respect to recent submission...
  9. Someone on eBay snapped up a Poor/Fair copy from me this morning for $40. The new floor for anything over a coverless copy, perhaps?
  10. Hit a couple sales yesterday morning, picked up a heap of okay stuff for not a lot of money, some modern minis, ten or so trades for a buck each, some random newsstand issues and another DCU issue.
  11. Did you really just compare Cerebus to Spider-man? Wow. -J. I'd say he compared the first appearance of a character which inspired a genre to the 2,458th appearance of Spider-man disguised as variants which are only famous for being famous. He compared a hall of fame actor to the Kardashians.
  12. From this link it looks like the Chronicles series was reprinting the Civil War mini-series and other tie-ins... https://www.marvel.com/comics/issue/16014/civil_war_chronicles_2007
  13. Holy smokes, what nice books this guy has! Unfortunately out of my price range, but I did pick out a nice Punisher limited series 1 that should grade out nicely.
  14. Even with responsible comic collectors, there is attrition. Sorry for your loss!
  15. Called the guy while I was typing that last post. We're meeting this weekend, he has X-Men 95-200 complete and what he calls "a few more semi-key issues" that he had pulled from what he offered at the estate sale. Going to his new house to see the goodies this weekend!
  16. So all of the books were not put out for sale at the original estate sale? Correct. While I was looking through what was there, we got to chatting about the hobby, etc., and he said he had sent some of his better books to CGC like Hulk 181, ASM 129, and a X-Men 94. And mentioned that he also had X-Men 95 up to some number that I forget, and that he would be looking to sell that run as well. After I picked out my goodies and we haggled a price, I asked about the other books and he took my name and number and said he'd give me a call.
  17. I left my number with the seller about his X-Men 95 up run, and he called today. It's nice when your friendly demeanor can lead to another potential deal!
  18. Tell the seller to buy your book so that he protects his market!
  19. Picked up a small batch at an estate sale this morning. Here are some of the better books.
  20. Find Mark's old update on the support lawsuit. The kid aged out and the lawsuit was dropped.
  21. Thanks man! I felt like I was in the upside down up in that attic today, maybe that's why the pics are all jumbled. Also got this too, complete with 3D glasses!
  22. Some pretty good picking today! Uncanny X-Men 155-400 complete, Infinity Gauntlet 1-5, Venom Lethal Protector 1-6, bunch of Deadpool and Cable issues, bunch of X-mini series and crossovers, etc., etc. Finally got a really trashed copy of the Alf with the seal on the cover, couple DCU variants, even an issue of Boy Comics.
  23. I hit four garage sales on Saturday morning that advertised comics. There were some junky comics, nothing worth buying. Just trying to balance the scales for those who think that it's easy pickings!
  24. You mean like this? Why, I oughta...
