  1. No, I'm calling her an F list character because she was completely unknown to even many comic book fans prior to Marvel deciding she should get a solo show. That, in itself was a risky move. Marvel pulled it off with Guardians, but unlike the trailer for that movie, this one just falls flat IMO. J. While partially true, I think any Bendis fan knows who Jessica Jones is and what a solid character she can be. She was pretty prominent in his New Avengers' run and then Bendis' subsequent love obsession with Luke Cage. I think he's probably referring more to the general audience, which has absolutely no reason to have even heard the name Jessica Jones, let alone be familiar with the premise.
  2. Harvey I am approaching it as the un-initiated might. The vast majority of the potential audience for this show have not read the comic and will not read the comic. From that standpoint the trailer failed to reach out and grab you the way Daredevil did, IMO. Very little of the nature character or the themes involved you say are in the series came out in the trailer. The observation is similar to what many have said about the Preacher trailer (and they have a point as well). Are dissenting opinions that are respectfully stated not allowed in this thread for some reason? -J. I will side with you in your right to state your opinion, because you are NOT incorrect in what you're saying. If the themes didn't jump out at you, they didn't jump out at you, and someone can't tell you you're wrong for that. I will however, respectfully disagree - I was not hugely aware of JJ's story but I feel like I got much more than just the gist of it from the trailer.
  3. To be fair, you contributed the more aggressive half of that argument.
  4. Did you like it? How was Rudd? I still haven't seen it. Yes. Great. You should. How about your non-nerd friends, family, & colleagues? How did they react, if at all? I can say that the few non-nerd friends of mine who saw it casually enjoyed it
  5. I'm not exactly sure how it implies monster of the week when it looks like it focuses pretty much entirely on her complicated, twisted story with Killgrave. Where does the monster of the week vibe come from?
  6. Out of principal, maybe, but is that really a smart business move?
  7. Welcome to the asylum. Show us some pics of your treasure finds! This is what I have pictures of so far. UK and Brazil ( A Teia Do Aranha 51 )not pictured That set will look even better with a certain Homem-Aranha book on its way
  8. If I understand correctly, it's merely a thickness difference. Mylites 2 are a more or less standard thickness of Mylar, and the 4s are suuuper thick. I personally prefer the 4s. On that note though, I don't recommend the 4s with the standard fold over tops - use the archives if you're going with 4s, and use 2s for the fold overs.
  9. Every time you get a 9.4 and below on moderns you should get punched. That X-men 266 CGC 9.0 should make you leave the hobby. If grades are all that you care about, you should leave the hobby. Welcome to the boards.
  10. Snagged this one today, after many years of stalling...
  11. yup, that's how they seem to be doing it, and i think its ideal I doubt he'll ever even be referred to as the "Purple Man". I'm betting he's Killgrave the whole time. I wouldn't be so sure - if he were a "villain of the week" like in AoS, I agree, he'd simply be Killgrave (like Crusher Kreel vs. Absorbing Man) but I think he'll be referenced as the Purple Man at least once throughout his entire series arc. Wilson Fisk wasn't addressed directly as the Kingpin, but the word "kingpin" was used to describe him several times, IIRC.
  12. Look at the condition - it must have been very well taken care of. I assume the owner had an inkling
  13. That would be an interesting poll, I feel a lot took the other side of it. His dark costume suited the story and tone, and it was jarring (and felt forced) when he was in the suit, That's my 2 cents. I think having a guy actually being purple colored, would feel "Batman & Robin" ish. Maybe letting us see that's his "real appearance" and he warps everyone else's perception, or something like that could work. But seeing him purple for any extended period of time would be pretty far from the vibe the show has shown so far in the teasers/trailers. I'm not very familiar with the character from the comics, but if he really is physically purple in the comics, I think they could do it justice by simply having Killgrave be heavily laden with purple motifs. Have him wear purple, have his "powers" seem to invoke a purple aura in people, etc.
  14. Woah. That was a true work of beauty. This might not always be a fun one to watch - that scene with Kilgrave entering the closet/room seems unfortunately telling.
  15. Spectacular, Greg. I don't see too many magazine subs from you!
  16. That's very cool. I love that shade of red for the walls, though I can never convince my family or business partner that it would be a good idea for home or office
  17. Plus we need them for collectability's sake That'll look excellent on the wall in sequence alongside GotG
