  1. ant-man down 50% this weekend. will end up doing a pretty typical 2.7x it's opening weekend in the US. it's no GOTG for legs but it's not Incredible Hulk bad either. According to boxofficemojo.com the film is as nearly as bad because it will be second to last place in domestic money brought in and shows its a sign of bad things to come for MCU films domestically I can't imagine how this could be a sign of bad things to come. As SO many people have pointed out, this is Ant Man, arguably one of the least popular characters in mainstream consciousness. He doesn't have the demographic-crossing appeal of GOTG or the sexiness of Iron Man, Thor or Cap, which limits the audience to die-hard MCU fans, Paul Rudd fans, decently educated comic fans and the odd curious movie goer (with some exceptions, of course). Captain America: Civil War will dominate the box office once again, because it's Captain America, because it's the Russo brothers, because of the many, many appealing guest stars slated to appear and because it's arguably much more important to the progression of the MCU. I have a feeling Doctor Strange will be similar because of Benedict Cumberbatch and because it will be VERY attractive in previews visually and likely will be a solid story as well. Thor: Ragnarok will continue the trend, and GOTG2 will bring in repeat viewers... I could go on literally until the end of the currently announced slate. (thumbs u
  2. I think it's obvious MARVEL is going to go the route they did with Daredevil and giving spidey a year one like home made costume before Peter is given his Traditional one. It makes sense to me that Stark will recruit him while he's still in street gear, then upgrade him to his more standard costume before trying to force the mecha-Spidey suit on him.
  3. Going to be hard to top J K Simmons. I loved him as JJJ. Honestly, a huge part of me wants him back, even though it might not make sense because he'd be the only returning character.
  4. That sounds like an excellent setup to me, and I bet they're approaching it the way they are to specifically counteract Marvel's directorial issues.
  5. I'm pumped, Rodey! On the note of repeat viewings, it had enough Easter Eggs that I missed that I intend on a second viewing next week.
  6. I still prefer that. I want to be wince while watching, without being uncomfortable.
  7. Yeah I loved that line. I applauded quietly at that, but no one else acknowledged it. I was proud.
  8. Slowass. Oh man, I don't usually agree with the anti-Jackman argument but a young Eastwood would have killed it. Were you kidding? I've clearly missed something, but this looks like a great Wolverine in terms of looks.

  10. For Mac users on the same issue, open Preview, hit Tools --> Adjust Size. Shrink it to 69x69 for optimal results. Make sure to hit "Save". (thumbs u
  11. I dont think either, necessarily. I believe creators have had input on the X-Men franchise but I can't remember anything said about assistance on any of the FF films, and though I'm probably mistaken, same with Spidey. It's idiotic to believe that Fox wouldn't consult actual comic book creators for this film. Comic book writer Mark Millar is listed as a creative consultant on the FF movie. You know, Mark Millar who wrote the first story arcs of Ultimate X-Men, The Ultimates, and (with Bendis) Ultimate FF. He then wrote the primary FF title for ~20 issues or so in 2008-09. He also wrote Marvel's Civll War and Old Man Logan storylines, and created/wrote Wanted, Kick- and Kingsman: The Secret Service. Filmwise, he's served as a creative consultant on the first Iron Man, as well as the film adaptations of his properties (Wanted, Kick-). He's also serving as creative consultant on X-Men: Apocalypse and (duh) Wolverine 3 (since he wrote Old Man Logan). You can prematurely hate on the FF film because they're adapting Ultimate FF, but at least they brought in the dude who literally established half the Ultimate line for this movie. And a guy who has had no fewer than six of his comic book creations turned into major studio films (including the forthcoming Cap sequel). I meant no disrespect to you or Mark Millar, and I stand corrected. I also want to point out that I loved the little bit of UFF I have read, and never once have prejudged this upcoming movie based on it. All my nitpickings have been things I've seen in the trailers and stem out my strong desire for the FF to join the MCU.
  12. Same. I generally enjoyed the first two films, although I never liked the idea of Tim Story directing them and didn't like the campy tone of either film. I'm aware of the weaknesses and stupid elements, but I like the characters and there was enough there for me to enjoy to overlook the stupid mess. I'm betting that'll be the case this time as well; the trailers suggest there will be. But holy mess, another reboot. But a crappy one this time. I was unimpressed with the first two films, but I didn't hate them as much as most people here did. My main issue with them is that they did a terrible job with Dr Doom. They turned him into just another corporate bad guy. Yuck! Otherwise, I felt they were C+ movies. The first Hulk was a movie I hated and considered walking out of about half-way through. My buddy turned to me and said that we could save an hour and a half of our lives by leaving now. I stayed, but he was so right. The first Hulk was a huge disappointment. Even today, it is hard to sit through it. Marvel provided consultation on that movie too. What were they thinking? Does Marvel provide consultation on the Fox and Sony movies? Or do those studios just reach out to the comic creators themselves? I dont think either, necessarily. I believe creators have had input on the X-Men franchise but I can't remember anything said about assistance on any of the FF films, and though I'm probably mistaken, same with Spidey.
  13. There's always a chance this movie makes history
  14. Very nice, my friend! Let me know if you plan on letting go of it
  15. As negative as this might seem, I am REALLY into this new piece of information. I always enjoy every movie I watch - some of my favourite comic book movies include X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and I cried during Amazing Spider-Man 2. So that means that chances are huge I will at least be entertained by this movie. BUT... If it's a failure critically and/or financially, then why in the world would the make the sequel or assume a crossover with the X-Men might work? If the above remains true, then I can't imagine they will attempt another reboot. Maybe, just maybe, they will give up and sell the rights back to Marvel for top dollar, or even just let them run out, ala Daredevil. Can you imagine Stark, Banner, Pym AND Richards going at it scientifically?
  16. I would not be surprised if Ghost Rider shows up somewhere in there
  17. That is good news, but doesn't make sense to me - I was under the impression the slabbing department is what's slowing things down
  18. This looks awesome. I haven't done much reading, but any word on when in the Star Wars timeline this takes place?
