% of 9.8's dropping to 9.6 after signature
Comixroc replied to Aztecan22's topic in The Signature Room
I’ve had some drops and some bumps. It’s a dice roll. -
Well, mine just got graded. 9.2.😒 I think a grade drop is an expected risk. But all the way down to 9.2? My in-house submission record is as follows: 1). 9.8 dropped to 9.2 2). 9.8 dropped to 9.6 3). 9.8 retained 9.8 4). 9.8 retained 9.8 5). 9.6 dropped to 9.4 6). 9.8 retained 9.8 I have 2 more 9.8 books in the “scheduled for grading” status. I’ll report on those once the grades are posted. I am at 3 drops and 3 books which retained 9.8’s. Two of the drops are reasonable... but the 9.8 to 9.2 hurts. Oddly enough, the 3 drops were Copper keys, while the 3 which retained grades were unpopular books...

I absolutely loved his work on Ultimates 3. He’s the reason I read that series. I met Joe Mad in NYC... back in 2008... Had a good conversation with him. A real cool dude, man.

That Daily Bugle promotional is awesome. I think it would look nice as part of a Red Hulk collection. It’s a good supplement. Something a collector would appreciate. But I’d never pick that over the real deal.

Damn...from a 9.8 to a 9.0?😬. Sorry to hear that. I too submitted a “Vengeance of Bane” for the Nolan signing. It was a 9.8 universal. Old case, though. It’s currently “scheduled for grading”.

Thoughts on submitting an Already High Graded book for signing?
Comixroc replied to OJ Pimpson's topic in The Signature Room
Just a follow up... putting my money where my mouth is: I submitted two 9.8’s for the recent signing. One came back a 9.6... the other came back a 9.4! The books were Universals which came back as Signatures. The 9.6 was cool... but the 9.4 did hurt. To be completely honest though, If I could do it over, I still would. The Signature is more appealing to me. Even with the drop to 9.4. That being said, if I was a seller, I’d be crying because the drop, the 9.4 in particular, would be a loss. bottom line: grade drops occur. To be clear, most of the 9.8’s I’ve submitted for signatures have retained their grade. I am focusing on these two grade drops simply to highlight the drop is possible. I also want to say, CGC has been amazing with the turn around time. And the fact that we have these in house signings are amazing! I love it! -
No Signature series label. You’ll get the qualified label. Eastman is doing a signing in a few weeks with CGC. Why not have him sign the book again? You’ll get a Signature Qualified label (yellow label with green trim).

Question about signed comics pre Signature Series

Agreed. Given that you’ve already taken the time and money to confirm the signature, why go through another process? -

I like the gold. Direct version. Did not like the UPC box in the 80’s and 90’s... and I still don’t like them. -

Picked this book up just to read the story a few years back. If only I had the foresight...😫 anyway, give it a look over and let me know your thoughts. I count about 13 color breaks on the front spine, with a bit of a spine roll. Some dents on the front cover which don’t break color. Some more color break creases on back (6?). Thanks, guys!

1st full appearance of The Beyonder?
Comixroc replied to Bart Allen's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
Your statement seemed to indicate the market value would not hold on SW 1 being the first appearance of the Beyonder. It seems to me you believe the “ray of light” showcasing the Beyonder was comparable to the arm of “Venom” in Web of 18, which the market does not reflect as the first appearance of, or even cameo of Venom. That statement is what I am confused about, and do not agree with. Again, SW#1 clearly indicates the “ray of light” is the Beyonder. Web of 18 does not clearly indicate “Venom” or Eddie for that matter. Two totally different examples. Hence my confusion. But let’s clarify, shall we? Are you saying the Beyonder’s appearance in SW 1 is comparable to the ambiguity of Venom’s appearance in Web of 18?
