  1. Cullen Bunn and Dan Jurgens added. This’ll be my next show so I’m already counting the days!
  2. This is conflating “high grade” and “desirable”. An 8.0 book from 1962 is both, while an 8.0 book from 1995 is high grade but not desirable. I’m in the camp that “high grade” is not dependent on the age of the book.
  3. It’s been a fun show so far. Sales have been good, with plenty of different titles moving. Sold a CGC 6.0 DD #7 and a F/VF DD #168, several VGish SA X-men, and a lower grade Hulk #5. Hoping for a strong Sunday to finish up! (I loved that someone would cosplay as Lizard.)
  4. I think my 20th is coming up in about two weeks. If I get anything I’ll post it.
  5. I certainly didn't mean to make it sound that way. Of course you get creators in to the show, and the lineups are always good. I am just hoping that the bar gets raised to STELLAR.
  6. Yeah, every time you find some new ones I can't decide if I am more excited or more irritated that I have new variants to try to chase down.
  7. Yeah, figured thats why some only do private signings. Didn't know if any could be lured back out, but Im sure they like their set up now. Craig Kyle is another name that would be nice to see in Dallas added to the creators (creator of X-23 and writer on some of marvel properties). He did some CGC signings this year. Super nice guy and I enjoyed meeting him. Yeah, I know some have retired but am never sure who. I wouldn't expect anyone who has retired from the circuit to come back out, but getting a nice group of old school creators would be really fantastic. A mix of former and current creators would go a long way into turning this into a destination show for comic collectors. I think Dallas can support a show like that, in addition to the celebrities and craft fair booths that will appeal to the general population. I know Sinnott just did a show quite recently, so he is someone who might travel.
  8. This may be a long shot, but what about some of the older creators that haven't done too many shows lately? They may be reluctant to travel, but it would really be great to get an opportunity to meet these guys: Sal Buscema John Romita Sr. Joe Sinnott Someone else may have a few names of this era as well, but these are the first three that came to mind for me.
  9. I'm working on several long runs, and consider myself a run collector, but the space issues with keeping several runs of 200-300 books are getting a bit impractical. I may need to make some difficult choices moving forward. A lot of the runs I am collecting now, mostly pre-hero Marvel, are pretty expensive in the 6.0-8.0 grades that I am trying to buy them in. The challenge is fantastic though. Years ago I toyed with the idea of collecting every appearance of Spider-man, my favorite character. I still think that this may be practical if you stuck to, say, pre-1975 or pre-1980 appearances, but in the 1990s when crossovers got ridiculous it becomes pretty insane to try to keep that up.
  10. I'm typically not a fan of modern art either, especially Campbell, but his early ASM cover work is pretty solid. As long as Campbell isn't drawing some variation of the one woman he can draw he can be quite tolerable.
  11. Got this for right around what it would have cost to slab since I was shipping an expensive box anyway. It's hard to go wrong with inexpensive first appearances of villains these days.
  12. Depending on what grade you’re looking for check one of the non-nosebleed Clink auctions. One of those that has like 120 pages of stuff like the current one does. Hit enough of those and you’ll have a reasonable shot at that book at FMV or better.
  13. How’s it looking at auction? Lately it seems to me that 95% of books aren’t selling at the crazy asking prices people put on them...
  14. True, it wasn’t the real Mandarin, but that book was undervalued until the movie spec brought it some much needed attention. It’s a true key from the run and an important villain’s first appearance. I’m glad I got mine back in 2008.
  15. Tacked this one onto my winnings later in the evening.
  16. Tales to Astonish #13. I just want a copy for my run, but I’m never paying the insane prices it goes for these days.
  17. I'm really upset that I somehow mistimed my arrival at my computer to miss bidding on the JIM #2, but I did manage to get these highly adequate consolation prizes (plus a JIM #24 I can't show here).
  18. Michael J. Fox announced for Calgary, weeks after this show, so I guess it fits in with the tease we got. Just curious why FE shows taking place after Dallas are getting announcements and we’re here like
  19. None of the above, I have just attended cons for decades and saw Stan signing for free with epic lines. Totally anecdotal information. If you know him, or his handlers, and have alternative info feel free to share. If anyone else has been charged by a comic creator to have a book signed before SS became a thing they can chime in.
  20. When Stan signed for free, for decades, the lines would be hundreds of people long. Line length didn’t lead to the adoption of signing fees nearly as much as CGC and SS did.
  21. I didn't make it to this show last year, but I heard it was decent and has potential. Facebook page Home Page
