  1. The CGC 9.8s are just following the usual trend. The first one sells for a stupid price and then they gradually fall off as the majority of the supply hits the open market. They'll stabalize at a certain price point (I'm thinking around $70) and hang there until the book either heats up or dies off. After the first few 'gotta have it' collectors blow their wads, the majority realize that almost every copy is a potential 9.8 and $10 for the book + $25 for grading does not equal $100+. If the story stays strong, the book should inch upward. If the story falls off, the book will die.
  2. Holy , how big is Negans forehead??? Jim Hahahahahaha. What a pile of garbage. It is a bit of a joke, isn't it. I'm not an Adlard-basher, I actually really like his art. But that's amateur at best, and to have it on a cover... Because I'm slightly bored at work today, I did a half-azz Photoshop to remove the bat and see just how big that forehead is. From the result, it's not as bad as I thought. I think Charlie was going for a 'Kubrick stare' pose (google it) and effed up the perspective a little bit.
  3. If they're definite 9.8s, you have to grade the 48 and 61 or you're giving away money. 53 might be worthwhile as well.
  4. If you're talking about the CBLDF: - Buy 3 from Mile High for $100 each. - Fast track. - Sell 2. - Keep one. - ? ? ? - Profit. Seriously, I bought a few when they were $50 each and they were damn nice copies.
  5. 2 seems like a big drop off from #1, at least from what I've seen locally and online from midtown, etc. I'd guess around 13,500.
  6. Something about this post sounds vaguely pornographic.
  7. Yeah, looks like he transfers a photo of the background onto the board to help with perspective and the inanimate objects in the landscape, then draws the rest of the scene and inks over it all. A lot of artists use photo reference so that doesn't bother me at all, but the blue does look sloppy, especially with half an SUV hanging out the left side.
  8. As bland as it looks, at least it's more relevant to the story than any of the other variants, most of which have nothing to do with anything.
  9. Again, not something that can be repeated. Some of the advice in this thread and on the boards in general simply can't be repeated. Buying any amount of revival as a one off and rolling the dice no biggie. Repeating the pattern described leads to nothing but a pile of long boxes and a big dent in the wallet. It's not the safe way or the easy way. So many talk of buying low and selling high. That does not mean buy at the lowest possible and hold out hope it hits the highest ever seen. Itlso doesn't mean you can't buy low, sell high repeatedly at various investment points. If you paid cover for the comic and got it graded immediately then you bought low. If you choose to hold then you are refusing to sell high. Clearly If you pre order the hell out of every #1 that comes out you're going to get burned. I'm posting specifically about the Revival #1s I'm happy to keep holding, rather than what I may or may not pre-order next month. I don't make a habit of losing money (although I will admit to having a few dozen American Vampire #1s in my longbox).
  10. There's no absolute answer to the question of weather you should sell or hold. There are too many individual variables to make a broad statement. I'm into my 25 midtown previews copies for like a buck fifty each. I don't need to sell any of them to recoup my initial 'investment'. I spent more on dinner last night. Id rather hold them until the book is on issue 10. Maybe they're worth $35 each by then or maybe they're worth $1 each, but my downside is about a fifty cent a copy loss vs an upside of what, $600? Not worth my time to sell now. Of course if this was 10 years ago and my financial situation was different I would have moved them for a quick profit 2 weeks ago.
  11. Awesome buyer! Quick payment and very patient & understanding when I ran late shipping the books. I would definitely recommend dealing with Kevin.
  12. I don't know anyone in that area, but I'd be down for getting some books done if we can find somebody...
  13. Can't let the Revival thread slide, can you? You just have to keep shamelessly bumping it back to the top to drive up the value of your copies.
  14. There's no way Rick dies yet. At least not until he kills Negan.
  15. I've wanted a what if/one shot of that for a long time now. Could be epic. Jerome A female spy and member of Culper Ring who is a highly trained hand-to-hand combatant and also expertly skilled in the use of various firearms against an attorney that found a katana. I was about to post the same thing. I don't usually get into 'who would win' debates, but three fifty would demolish Michonne. RIck could take Yorick though
  16. Not a bad number at all. Thief of Thieves 1 range.
  17. Like 75% of the print run should be 9.8 or better. You won't have trouble replacing it. And it definitely won't go for $20. Just do it, so I can
  18. Would it be the first one on there? If so, I'd run it as a no reserve auction with a low starting bid. You'll probably do pretty damn well.
  19. CGC does that on a lot of books. Probably because comic books characters have been known to come back from "death."
  20. I'm failing to see the "variant backlash" sales. Looks like there were 2 in the $165 range and then it bounced right back over $200. I'd love to see them take a temporary dive, but definitely don't see it at the moment.
  21. Six more today. Up to 37 total. Debating whether to sub a 9.8 prescreen or just sell them in lots. Nice problem to have.
