  1. People are breaking 92 out because of the first full appearance of Paul 'Jesus' Monroe, not because of the Fatale preview. Of course it's still TBD if he's a really important character, but a lot of people are gambling that he will be.
  2. I'd tear the 'tainted meat!!!' page out of 65 and get that signed ::
  3. Bad comps. WD#1 is more similar to the early ongoing independent books with low print runs and huge impacts on the medium; Cerebus, TMNT and Bone. Those books obviously had slightly smaller print runs, but, TMNT aside, WD has already had more pop culture impact. On another tangent, people always bring the argument that TV/Movie viewers don't purchase collectible back issues. I think this is mostly correct; however, it misses the mark about why the back issues of properties that go mainstream increase in value proportionally to the pop culture impact of the adaptation. This hobby is extremely insecure and always looking for validation. The average comic geek is always looking for someone to tell him what to buy, what's good, etc. and, for whatever reason, many consider a good hollywood adaptation being sucked up by the masses the ultimate validation. Seeing a character brought to the screen and accepted by mom, dad and the non-collector masses just makes the fanboys foam at the mouth for back issues. Now, TMNT #1 had that kind of mainstream validation, but it was never a consistently good comic book series. Cerebus and Bone ran a long time and were well respected in the hobby, but had no mainstream impact. WD1 hits the perfect storm of an ongoing title that: - was already a comic book fan favorite with high back issue prices before the show - has been consistently well-written (if a bit boring at times) - has a crazy low print run (census be damned) AND - has had a massive pop culture impact, driven by a million-viewer TV show that has independently spun off its own zombie craze. The only thing the book doesn't have going for it is condition scarcity, but that only matters to a certain demographic of ultra high grade collectors. BTW, I'm still looking for YTLM 1 in 9.8 if anyone has one
  4. It's not particularly obvious what you're saying in the original post other than #2 is full of awesomeness in all ways and number #1 bores you to sleep. Correct. 1's are easy to find at every show and ebay 24/7 in HG. Like I said how does my post imply #2 would ever be worth more than #1. Just more enthusiastic to see #2 than #1. You preface your comparison of 1 and 2 by discussing the value of #1, and asking if it can keep going up in value, right get all mushy about #2. It's either about money or its not - you can't have it both ways. Also, re-read my post - I'm saying #2 is overpriced when compared to #1. That has nothing to do with which is worth more. I gotta go to sleep. /nerdfight
  5. I'm not talking about CGC books or specific buyers. I'm talking about a 7K print run vs. the massive imprint this property across all media is making on pop culture. 100% CGC 9.8 #1s will trade at 2K or more within the next 5 years
  6. It's not particularly obvious what you're saying in the original post other than #2 is full of awesomeness in all ways and number #1 bores you to sleep.
  7. No one is saying WD #2 is more important that #1, but tougher to find....hell yea. I am more impressed seeing a WD #2 in CGC 9.8 than #1. #1 isn't that tough to find if you need a HG copy. There are 500 fewer copies of #2. That's 7% less than #1...hardly a significant difference. There are a lot more CGC copies of #1 because it's a much more desirable issue. Scarcity alone does not make a book valuable or desirable. Last time i checked, there isn't a "Show Us Your WD #2" thread. Umm not sure about that 500 number. From what can heard and read they printed a lot less than just a 500 difference. Like I said WD #1 is obviously the best book of the series, but finding a 9.8 copy of #2 is a lot harder with that black back cover. WD #1 grade easily in HG most of the time it is just dumb arse dealers at comic book shows charging CGC 9.8 money when the book is not even graded. Walking Dead #1 is the most important book of the modern age in terms of new characters appearances and importance. That being said the book is not tough to find past, present, or future in HG. WD issues two years from now across the board will be down 25-35% from their current values. It is just to obvious to choose the ladder on this. Modern books always sell for stupid money when they are hot then cool down to sometimes half of that value done the road. Heck just look at WD #19 GPA data....the book is falling like crazy already. I should now I sold 3 of them in 9.8 just last week. Book in 9.8 will barely be over $400.00 by summers end, and the first couple were selling at $800.00, so that is already down 50%. The book in 2011 was only trading at $150.00 in CGC 9.8....who didn't see this sheep bubble popping. You're missing the big picture on #1. Availability in HG is irrelavant when the book is just plain scarce, period. There's a reason that 9.8s dont trade for crazy multiples of 9.4/9.6 on this book and even mid grade copies sell for hundreds - 50,000 people want a copy, but only 7K can have one. I agree on the other 'keys'. 19s should have been sold already and 27s should be sold when the gov shows up on AMC.However, #1 is the biggest key since TMNT1 and may back off in the short term, but will continue to climb in the long run. 50,000 people do not want the book. Scarce and 7k is not synonymous with one another. I respectably disagree with the book rising once the shows ends. The book will level off and will be trading stably forever. 7K is not scarce for a variant. However, it's scarce as hell for the first issue of a regular off-the-rack issue of a now-mainstream title with a monthly circulation of 55K. And that's just the floppy. Do you know how many TPBs The Walking Dead sold last month? Approximately 47K. That's a gross 102K WD books sold last month alone. The readership has been around 30K for quite some time now and with issue 99 it will likely double that number. The number of #1s extant remains steady at 7K.
  8. To use the most extreme of examples, Action Comics #2 is scarcer than Action Comics #1. Action Comics #2 CGC 5.0 - $54,372 (heritage 2/22/12) Action Comics #1 CGC 3.0 - $298,750 (heritage 2/22/12) I could cite 20 more examples. No one gives a about second issues or second appearances and, to be honest, WD #2 is already too close to #1 in price. Walking Dead #2 CGC 9.8 - $820 (bin 6/11/12) Walking Dead #1 CGC 9.8 - $1500 (the most recent bin, although they've been hanging closer to $1300 recently) Like I said, I might hold off on buying either at this moment, but I certainly wouldn't be investing in 2s.

  10. It's pretty obvious that certain characters are choosing their fate in this issue. Carl, Glenn and Maggie specifically request to join the van crew. In fact, we have all the main characters conveniently in the van, with the exception of Andrea, who's staying behind with a bunch of scrubs. It definitely makes things look very bad for the Alexandria crew. IMO, It would be amazing if the van crew got wiped out and we got a near fresh start.
  11. Those three panels of Carl's face after he saw Rick and Andrea cuddling on the couch? Yeah, I have no idea what those expressions were supposed to convey. Is he pissed? Was that a smirk in the final panel? Is he happy for them? I really have no idea. If Charlie keeps this up, Kirkman's going to need to bring back the thought bubble.
  12. Best cover of the bunch, IMO. Maybe I'll try to pick up a couple extras after I f' up some zombies.
  13. I'll bet you it never gets within $300 of #1 in 9.8 again There are about 10K fewer copies of #1 in existance and it's the first appearance of the entire WD universe. #19 is the first appearance of one overhyped character. Sure she's badazz and looks cool in the show, but IMO that book will never break $1K and probably already hit its all-time peak with her cameo appearance in the finale.
  14. No - I believe your books are still covered at the value you declare on the form. It's a way to make more money on higher end books.
  15. I would think they'd only bump #3 up to the next tier if it grades 9.8, in which case it's a $250-300 book. I'm not a big fan of the policy, but in that instance it is worth over $200. They only seem to do it on extremely obvious hot books though (i.e. none of my stuff at WW Philly got moved to a different tier and 5 of the books are likely over $200 in grade).
  16. True. Shipping is automatically combined if you choose not to pay. (thumbs u Derp
  17. To ask if they could combine shipping on multiple books. Not really a question most people ask if they don't plan on following through.
  18. Lead bidder right now has 97% positive feedback on 33 transactions and 3 retractions over the last six months....looks like he/she ticked off three ebayers after jumping ship on previous steers...ahem, "wins"... Eh...the bidder has one negative from a selling transaction and contacted me prior to bidding. Seems legit to me.
  19. $1421.56. Even a penny less would be a steal. Bidders take note!
  20. I'm not talking about that book, I'm replying to your posts above where you mention 9.8s and binary (bindery) tears. That book is just effed up.
  21. Bindery tears don't keep books out of 9.8 unless they're something hideous that goes beyond the normal definition of the term. 9.9s are another story.
  22. He sold the #98 cover last week for $1,750, as well as the cover to #65 (which is my first cover ) Jim Yep - apparently I'm an evil human (to some people) for selling my walking dead covers to buy something else. I'm just making fun of the fact that 4/6 covers in the arc have been on ebay in the last 3 weeks. I'm as big a flipper as anyone.
  23. So far I think I like Ottley and the Adlard wrap-around the best. Not the two I would have expected before the images came out.
  24. So stupid. Are these people on an island? Is it that hard for them to get to the LCS on Wednesday...? That aside, why should this EVER sell for a premium? Alpha Flight 106 is barely even a $10 book and it's obviously much more significant.
