  1. 97 Cover is up on ebay witha $2500 bin. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Walking-Dead-97-Original-Cover-Art-Something-to-Fear-Part-One-Adlard-53-19-/200771207732?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ebee58234
  2. First books I've subbed in a couple years and I didn't get any slabs under 9.8! It was a very good day.
  3. Jesus is going to be number one when he leads the hilltop against Governor Rick and his army of evil.
  4. Chomping down on Dwight's junk came way too naturally for Euge. NTTAWWT
  5. is unity 0 & 1 worth slabbing? or just a 5 dollar book? Not unless they're the variants (0 red and 1 gold and platinum). Even the #1 variants are barely worth slabbing.
  6. Why, are they making the later printings out of pulped RRPs?
  7. The problem with buying work from hot up and coming artists in the current market is access, not price. If a gallery handles an artist's market correctly, they'll generally keep prices down, while selling to established collectors and museums. I've been trying for 2 years (unsuccessfully) to get a piece from a certain artist. During that timeframe, said artist has moved from semi-under the radar to one of the hottest in NY. Meanwhile, quality large paintings have only increased from $40K to $60K. If a good example showed up at auction, it would likely sell for a quarter million. Everyone knows this, but there's just no supply unless you're connected or very good at playing the art buying game.
  8. That chick from True Blood is annoying as hell. Seriously one of the most obnoxious people on TV. The only reason I even watch the show any more is so I don't miss it if she dies. Danai looks perfect in the pic. I never thought any of the girls in WD were 'sexy' - they just look like normal people. Well, except when Adlard unintentionally gives them mutant faces, but that's neither here nor there.
  9. I have to strongly disagree with this one. If bad artwork didn't increase in value, half of the OA in existance would be available for free. Value in the OA hobby is based first and foremost on nostalgia. The second factor is the importance of the art to the story/character, followed by the quality of the art. How much did the New Mutants #98 cover sell for?
  10. You might be in trouble if it has no sharp corners
  11. Bought a CGC 9.6 New Mutants 98 from bug33fouf. He shipped it super fast and it was received in great shape. Thanks!
  12. You should probably sign up now to make sure you're not excluded, Tim.
  13. only a small % of the population are art fans and regular comic book readers of the past and probably still today, are no different. That's the pont.. you have to take the entire post into account when you read any one line to get the real meaning of my statements.. No. I get the real meaning of your statements...I just disagree.
  14. considering that only a small percentage of the population would even know what the Pieta is, by the same argument that Lichtenstein should have credited Heath and others, Starlin should have credited the Pieta. That's my point. You can't argue one way when it goes for you, and the other way when it goes against. That's like an attorney taking two sides to a criminal case in two separate trials with 2 killers who are co-defendents in a third trail for the murder they did together. I actually agree with you on Liechtenstein in general. I don't agree with this particular point though. Anyone with any sort of art education or knowledge should recognize the Pieta. It's such an iconic work that crediting it would almost be insulting to the viewer. Next to no one will recognize a random Russ Heath comic panel. Crediting it would simply be informing the viewer of something that there's no way they'd know otherwise. Of course, giving credit wouldn't make sense in the context of Liechtenstein's work, but that's not the argument I'm trying to get into here.
  15. The Starlin Pieta homage is the 'Death of Captain Marvel' cover. It's also clearly referencing the Pieta, rather than ripping it; hoping the viewer will make the visual connection between that classic piece and the newer work to establish Captain Marvel as a Christ-figure. IMO anyway.
  16. or it could have equaled absolutely nothing.. It is an intangible of the most intangible. also, you have to face certain facts: what went on in the world in 1960 or 1970 bears no comparison culturally, or businessway to today. Today you can make money from incredible nothings that would have been laughed at 30-40-50 years ago. Russ and all the other artists should have received at least source credit.. But back in 1961, considering giving such to a comic book artist would have been easily dismissed The incredible nothings over run us today it seems. I am going to paint soup cans with Kardashian faces on them. It will be the most glorious melding of marketing influences ever. I'm sure some street artist has already beat you to it.
  17. I think the art is amazing The RRP cover is one of the nicest comic art images I've seen in some time.
  18. You read the wrong month. Check the previous month for issue 1, which came in around 40k
  19. Just looked it up. Saga 2 sold 36,885. The 9641 is just the second month number for issue #1, possibly including the 2nd print.
  20. That's a bindary tear. CGC won't count it against the possibility of a 9.8.
