Your pre Legion silver age Adventures are the best I have ever seen. I know you don’t profess to be a completionist, but do you know how many issues you have between 247 and 300?
-
I agree Ian. I feel very remiss in that I completed the Adventure 300-380 in the pre CGC days and realize after seeing these gorgeous copies that I have quite a few mid grade copies. I have only two slabbed issues in that whole run! I had been looking for upgrades on 311and 312for years because mine were dogs (I now have a 8.5 and a NM- respectively) but I would love to up grade many on the issues between 310 and 340. It’s interesting that some issues show up routinely in high grade (like 304) and other you NEVER see (like 310-312).

Who knows, that 8.0 surprised me since it wasn't even census highest. I think a high grade 5 would kill based on that auction, almost as tough and a much better cover. I’m happy for rd-bar, I know what a great felling it is to complete that set given it ran for 30 years and 259 issues.
I wonder who I sold that 3.5 too? Maybe comicdonna, I think I sold him a few of my undercopies.

It’s kinda like saying”what’s the first silver age Superman, Batman, Superboy” etc, since they were all continually published through the entire decade(s). I agree, what book defines their revised origin. Interesting that Superman and aBatman don’t have a breakout book for the same reasons. There were so many retelling of their origins. Each added more to the lore. I always thought Superman 106 would be a key, but several issues later we get his name Kalel for the first time, and that isn’t ieven mention in the guide.

All of these copies are stunning, I’m gonna be on an upgrade mission now.

Here is a real nice solid fine copy of Fightin' Marines #7 with a great Matt Baker cover (is it grey tone? looks cool) and Canteen Kate story "The Foxhole Floozie". I wonder if floozie was banned when the comics code came around?
Nice tight copy, OW pages. Census highest is a 6.0 and there are only 3 copies on the census.
Price is $400 shipped in the U.S.
trumps PM's
I take any form of payment (CK/MO/PP) and ship USPS priority mail.
Thanks for looking!

Let’s not lose this thread again, lots of Legion love left to give.
Dont know if anyone posted this one yet, if so, sorry for the dupe.
In the early days of collecting the Legion the key issues were always the ones before Adventure Comics 300, usually those are what collectors focused on. This one introduces Star Boy. Oddly enough though the cover focuses more on Lana laying in the new legion member. It seems like almost every early Legion appearance had another addition to the team

I don’t have a little t of his stuff because I really didn’t collect war books but I loved his brief sting on early Brave and the Bold with the Golden Gladiator. I believe he drew him on number 1. It’s sad to think how many of the great artists arenow gone.

I loved his Golden Gladiator on the Brave and the Bold. While I never collected DC war comics, I always appreciated his awesome work on those books as well.

Price drop, $25 for the Adventure and $200 for the B&B

Next up is Brave and the Bold 22. These books are getting harder to get in nice shape and prices have been on the steady rise. This is a solid mid grade copy of this classic greytone Kubert cover. Very supple, full cover gloss, CR/OW to OW pages. F+. This is the last issue with the Silent Knight. $225

I am so impressed Ian! How much of 200-246 do you have complete? Please post your 248!
I don’t know others know this, but this is a fairly significant collecting achievement in grade, there are many difficult issues in that run.
