Just a great issue- one of my faves.  Too bad it's locked up in plastic; it has some 41 pages of wonderful Baker art inside.  You need a low grade reader of this one.  (I do, too, for that matter...)

    I started reading the issue:

I have to say I enjoy reading these books. The art is fantastic and the stories are entertaining.

  2. B&B was the very first comic series I “collected”. I’ve been on a 45 year mission to complete a entire set. Most of the ones I have from 120-200 are my off the rack purchases as a kid. It took a backseat for many years while I collected Superman titles, but as I closed in on those runs I came back to this series.

I need 15 or so issues to go; I have a 1, but no 28. Think I have 31-200 complete.

Since this is a bronze thread, here are a couple of favorites.

  3. I used to think I wanted CGC to slab these as well but I’ve become indifferent to the idea. I have some incredible copies of these from an OO purchase, but I know they are a niche collectible and the while they can be rare or cool, few fetch enough dollars to make slabbing them worthwhile. I have all of mine in mylars and rigid backing boards, they present beautifully. If I were to ever sell any, I don’t imagine the price I could get would be any greater if they were slabbed. The only advantage graded copies would have for me is I wouldn’t have to be disappointed by such poor grading when I bought one raw online. Also, the other grading company is grading them, but not encasing them. I bought one like that and was pleased with the result.

    Here’s another Halloween beauty.

CGC does not slab treasuries and probably never will. The tooling costs required to make a new slab that size are astronomical and the market too small to justify the cost.

I'm rather glad they don't, since if they did slab them most likely nice copies would be harder to find and more expensive.

Finding high grade (nm or better) copies of most of the DC’s is incredibly tough already

  5. Saturday is returning registration for Comic-Con. Anyone want to team up to improve our chances of getting a pass? We’re allowed to register up to three additional people if you get called into the registration area. You probably don’t know what I’m talking about unless your familiar with the madness of trying to register for Comic-Con. :insane:

Anyways, looking to team up with a couple of boardies. PM me if interested.

This looks like it is Stan Lee's old show. Probably also very light on vintage comic book dealers. Last one stank. Until they post the exhibitor list, I'm out of this one too. At least it isn't 50 bucks to get into like the LB show.

Yeah, come see me on Sunday... I've got "a box"...

A friend and I went to this show the last two years. Two years ago we had a good ti,e and found stuff to buy, last year it was horrible, I don’t think I bought anything. I have no hope it will be better this year so I am gonna pass. Probably the next show I will go to is Terry’s Yoruba Linda one day show.

  7. Would like to find a couple of other boardies to maximize chances of getting in on returning registration on 10/13. I think the limit is 4 passes if you make it into the registration room from the waiting room. Let me know if you want to collaborate to maximize our opportunities.
