  1. I was playing with my slabs today and took a few pictures of some of my lesser runs. As some of you know, my main focus is Avengers and Xmen but i like to pick up other nice random books if i can find a good deal. I've been adding Hulks and Captain marvels 1 at a time and even though there arent many in my runs, i at least have some of the keys. My Incredible Hulk slabs And my Captain Marvel slabs. The March Clink auction has a TON of HG Captain Marvels but i probably wont be able to pick up more than 1-2
  2. I forgot to post this when i got it back a few weeks ago. Not in the league of rube's books but i'm not much of a DD guy. I bought this as part of a raw collection back in 02. I was a little disappointed with the grade, was hoping for at least a 6.0, but oh well still a pretty nice semi-key Marvel #1.
  3. Sick freaking book Steve! Nice to see what i've been funding with all my purchases from you lately!
  4. Damn!!! I finally got my 41 a few weeks ago, the measly 9.2 a few posts up. That 41 you got there beachcomber is freaking SICK!!! One of my favorites spideys and favorite villains! That thing is insane, I am bigtime jealous of that book man. Great score! You guys have been finding some wicked spideys lately. Between that 41 and the 9.6 #40 cheetah picked up the other day, I am definitely green with envy! Congrats guys!
  5. In all seriousness though, can you tell or does Roy know whats knocking that down to a 7.0? It's got some soft corners for sure but from that scan, thats about the nicest 7.0 ive seen. I have 8.0-8.5's that look the same or worse than that baby!
  6. No worries, you know im just messin with ya! 43 and 54 are nice little books but nothing special. Getting a #1 that looks like THAT is a MAJOR accomplishment! Two HUGE (thumbs u on that book! You go girl!
  7. I never know what the hell is BA and whats CA but here goes. Now i know this at least is a BA book. Sweet eBay find for dang cheap a few months ago Not sure if this is BA or CA but was a AWESOME buy off the boards last month. One of my favorite covers as a kid(i remember buying this off the stands and rereading it until it practically disintegrated!) and looks even better in person! Gave this to my son and he was
  8. Talk about gettin shown up!!! I gotta get a nice 43 and 54 the same day cyclegirl gets a SICK #1
  9. Ummm, what am I missing??? Did Roy wipe his on the back cover or something because that scan looks like a 8.0 at least! Very, VERY nice! Congrats
  10. Holy mess !!!! That is awesome! Steve is my hero!!!
  11. Damn! And i thought i had a lot of Iron Man 8's graded! Nice haul icefires!
  12. +1! Other than #1, probably my favorite CM cover! I was hoping to get a 9.6-9.8 but that dang #4 is practically extinct according to the census. This 9.4 had GREAT eye appeal in hand. I know its a deal breaker for some but i'm not a miswrap snob especially for a small straight one like that so i am VERY happy with this copy! I gotta thank Steve(rube11) for pointing me in this books direction so i could add it to my CM run Awesome! Do you have registry sets for these? I just have the regular Captain Marvel set. I really dont have much of the run except for the early issues. I have a 9.4 #1, 9.6 #2, 9.8 #3, 9.4 #4, 9.8 #5 and a 9.2 #28. My registry is under sufunk15 instead of sufunk. Now that Carmelo is a Knick and wearing #7 though, the 15 at the end of my name is pointless now! I've been trying to work on the run but keep getting sidetracked with Xmen and Avengers.

  14. This came in the mail for me today. Now, i finally have my #4 to go with my 1,2,3 and 5 Thanks Steve for pointing me in this books direction! Despite the 9.4 grade, in hand it looks every bit the equal of my 9.6-9.8 Captain Marvels. Couldn't be happier with this book
  15. My only wins from tonight and not the books that i REALLY wanted
  16. The one BA book i was targeting in the Clink auction that went below GPA and i was able to snag. A REAL nice copy of a book ive been trying to find in HG since i got back into collecting a few months ago. Very, VERY happy with the price i got it at
  17. It was a slow night for me in the Clink auction. Not good enough deals for me on the books i wanted The only SA book i got was this one
  18. It's possible that Josh was negotiating a deal in the back ground and posted the sale once both parties agreed on price. Thats what i figured but it has the sale price as 150k on the site In my mind, there is no possible way that sold for 150k, maybe, MAYBE 125k but even that would surprise me. When dealing with a one of a kind item what matters is what the person who wants it the most is willing to pay. You are seeing things through the eyes of the many. But the average joe did not buy this. The person who had the most financial resources who really wanted this is the one who bought it. It is easy to figure what a group of people will trend to. It is impossible to read the mind of one solitary figure, and figure out what he is willing to pay. No, i understand that but it still seems odd to jump from 92k to the FULL asking price IF that is what happened. I dont care if you are a billionaire, you probably didnt get there by throwing money away. With the bid at 92k, why would anyone buy it for the full 150k instead of offering 120,130 even 140k which almost definitely would have gotten the book. I would bet that Roy is right and a deal was brokered below the 150k despite what it says on the clink. I'll be shocked if it actually went for over 125k.

  20. It may have sold for that, but it wasn't in 2007. Think the vendor was asking $45k for it at SDCC around 2005 so would be surprised it he accepted a "low ball" offer of $25k straight cash. Which is exactly why I said what I said. If it sold for $25k it was long before 2007. (thumbs u Sold in 2002(?) by the Hawaiian guys - can't remember their name. 600% in 9 years is a pretty damn good return! I'm not usually one of the conspiracy guys but this does seem damn fishy to me. I cant for the life of me understand how it jumped from 92k to the 150 asking price in 1 leap. If the guy bought it for 25k, there is no possible way he wouldnt have taken 125-140k, no way! Why the hell would someone jump right to the 150k asking price??? I dont care how much money you have to spend on comics, savings 10k(or more) is A LOT!
  21. REALLY?!?!? if thats the case, BRAVO to the seller! I definitely would have caved at 92k and took the almost 70k profit! 600%, you cant beat that! When did he buy it does anyone know?
  22. I LOVE those statues! My LCS has a billion of them and i always want to buy this really cool Ultron and Hawkeyes ones that they have but they are pretty pricey! Every time i go to buy them, i think about the comics i could get for that money and pass on them. Eventually, i'm definitely going to get at least those 2. Very cool!
  23. I know ive heard people say that this seller didnt slab the 9.9 but bought it. Does anyone know ballpark what he paid for it originally and when?
  24. Your mistake is attempting to apply sound logic and reason to a sale that repudiates such concepts. Even as crazy as the sale is, i at least understand someone with a ton of money paying a insane amount for the top census of a very important book. I would never do it no matter how much money i had but at least i can understand it. For the life of me, i cant understand why someone paid the full amount though. Like i said, maybe im wrong but i cant imagine under any circumstances that the seller wouldnt have taken $140-145k if not even less. It just seems EXTRA insane to me to go from 92k to the full asking price of 150k in 1 quick step
