A 90's Jim Lee X Men double page splash featuring Claws Out Wolverine and Omega Red should be hovering above $50K as the auction is coming to an end. This one currently sits at $18K
What is the difference value consensus of Scott Williams's inks versus Art Thibert?

In the past, it felt it was close to double. Is it 3X now?

The bids don't mean anything til the auction's over.

Understand - I haven't won a book for almost 2 years. Granted, I only need a couple dozen to complete the sets I want, but depending on the auction house, my highest bid is only 75% of the final hammer price.

Placed bids on several of @Figment books, but didn't win one. Heritage has been the worst, I'm blown out 3 seconds into the live bidding.

Guess it's either man-up or settle with a lesser grade copy.

  3. I have started doing a video game original art podcast with a few other people and this episode was all about Boris & Julie.   We talk about their game art but also their comic related art from the Marvel mags (like Savage Sword of Conan), Warren, and even the Marvel Masterpiece cards along with recent developments in the market for their art.    If it interests you  please enjoy:

Early Magic art, heck, all Magic art. Is it a 1k or 100k? I don't know and I can never guess :)

that one is a pretty easy guess to be a big number.   It might be the best card art to have in all of MTG outside of the first 4 sets.

Maybe Heritage felt a twinge of guilt and that’s why they gave us certificates waiving sellers commissions when we go to resell them.

otherwise, we are just getting posterized when we decide it’s time to let go

They don't much care if you get posterized, and neither does comiclink.   The resale certificate is just a way to encourage re-consignments of valuable books so they make their cut again on the next guy, and why shouldn't they?   If a house is going to handle the resale, why not them?

The whole Make an Offer platform is built around a similar idea.    Buyer 1 has material Buyer 2 now wants.    Drop the HA fees to 10% and use your website to facilitate the re-sale of a valuable book.

Change topic from all the market watch reports.  Here is the most Groo piece that will be headed my way from Aragones Cartoons in FB (aka Sergio's daughter Kirsten).

This is 9" x 12" that I acquired for $950 - pretty steep price, but this is not an investment.  It's just for the love of Groo and I feel this image depicts some key elements such a Groo sinking ships, and Sergio's dragons (or sea creatures).  When I will receive it, Sergio's signature will be there to replace that post it sticker in the bottom right.

I love his ships and dragons too.

I look for his signature Groo elements when I am buying the art as well.    I want things like sinking ships, dragons, supporting characters, cheese dip, a fray, etc etc etc.

    Good stuff.

It actually hasn't been for a long time (for reasons that I won't bore people here with).

Yep, "buy what you like" only works on a financial basis if lots of other people like it as well.

hahah that's pretty good.    There's some truth in that.     I'd like Mile High Timely and Actions.   :tonofbricks:

  8. Decades and dates really do make the most sense.     There's so much change even within those ages that understanding them fully requires getting back to dates anyways.    Things changed a lot from year to year within the specific significant movements in comics.   1962 SA marvels aren't like 1966 SA marvels, and 1952 Barks ducks are quite different than 1959 Barks ducks.

Wow, 40 years..that's insane. Anyone here been a fan since the beginning? I discovered TMNT in late '88 when I saw the toys filling the shelves of a local department store. The "bursting out of a brick wall" packaging was really eye-catching.

I came on around Issue #10 - saw that cover and was a fan ever since.    I guess that was around 1987.
