  1. Sweet books! Agree with your sentiments re having a book and a porsche!
  2. No.... the point is they are both the first appearance of the character in question. I thought that was abundantly clear Obviously spidey is on a million times larger scale in terms of fan following than usagi is, that's not the point I was making. What I was saying is that they are both the first appearance, ie. if you're into those two characters, those are the two books to have. Nobody gives a damn about plat spidey 1, spidey collectors included
  3. while the price is definitely high right now, the spidey 1 plat is a really bad analogy. Albedo 2 is more like the amazing fantasy 15 for usagi collectors. Spidey 1 plat is a freaking lame variant of an ultra-overproduced 90s book for gods sake, not to mention 30 years removed from the first appearance.
  4. All of the cars pictured are Spoilers, a subset of the overall Hotwheels line, typified by racing stripes, numbers, spectraflame paint and exposed engines. They are hotly collected. Depending on colour and style, some of these are worth $1000+ mint and on the card (the record price for a hotwheel was $70k for a very rare hot pink VW beach van prototype.... so comic collectors aren't the only freaks). Loose and still in excellent shape, they go from $50 to several hundred dollars. Beaters? I don't think I paid more than $15 for any of these, and they were all in reasonable, played-with condition. I stripped them, polished them, cleaned up the wheels and the glass, then repainted them with an airbrush and added new decals. And they are all-pimpin' now. I restore one every six months or so.... just too busy to do one in a few days. I bought a large (25 cars) lot off ebay in 2004 which will provide me with enough cars to keep me busy for a few years. Hotwheels.... they go great with comics. Shep I figured they would be worth some good money on the card. Interesting to hear some are worth bucks loose too - thanks! I dug up my childhood hotwheels out of curiosity and have been trying to look them up on ebay - we're talking a couple bucks each for the good ones
  5. Coinee! (looks to the side and spits twice over shoulder)
  6. really - how much is something like that beat up vs restored vs original in great shape (loose)?
  7. unopened nintendo video games (my avatar is one also) Pic below is one of the victims I had to give up to afford the one in my avatar!
  8. yes. bumping this thread because it rocks lately - thanks for your insights Bill.
  9. sweet! thanks for posting these
  10. thanks for sharing those.. awesome books. and that kdf 20 is sick too!
  11. exquisite copy! Those can't be easy in that kind of shape
  12. Awesome, sweet pickup mike. What did that beauty set you back? cheers
  13. I'm not trying to say that it's a proper cameo. I shouldn't have used that term... but it's a minor first app. nontheless. He's on one friggin page people.
  14. I disagree... I don't have the story in front of me, but he's in what, like three panels or something? It's a pretty minor first app
  15. Yeah, although I personally consider 141 the 1st app... 140 is really more of a cameo
  16. Anything I could say about the subject would be far more of a guess than an opinion (by trent's definition) but 27500 seems crazy to me too just based on the other stuff that seems to be available in that range. It's a nice page and is probably helped by the fact it has a Dr Strange feel to the subject matter, but personally I wouldn't consider that any more desirable than a mediocre to average ditko ASM page. As for the two covers, I see the capt atom as being quite a bit more desireable. At least 50% more than the nukla. If I had to guess I'd put the nukla at 12 and the capt atom at 20 but what I do know.... strictly guessing
  17. that's it. See what I mean about the dogcrap coloring?
  18. Yeah, which isn't surprising considering the coloring on the variant looks like dogcrap.. the cover on the main print run looks far superior.
  19. It's in the middle of the front inside cover buried in a dense paragraph... but it's there.
  20. Hmm... Well, check the inside cover to the first print of #2... I thought it mentioned a second print of #1 at "double" the number of the first print (i.e. 6,000).... or perhaps I'm getting alzheimer's... If you have a first print #2 lying around though, give it a check. I sold mine.
