  1. RJ's super hg moderns were all stacked horizontally too - vertical stacking is convenient but will create slight defects on spines and on the lower edges/corners.
  2. Nah, he alternated the spines from what I've heard.
  3. Jamie, If you have the old overstreet monthlies in your collection, look for the overstreet-published CBM #3 (or was it fan #3? - it has a dinosaur cover at any rate). It has a mini version of the 1970 guide included along with some of the original prices. Very cool, and a handy reference on the prices of 1970 keys for those of us without a copy of the 1970 guide. Dan
  4. supa, that's nothing dude. A coverless copy sold for over $70 a while back
  5. Wow, and the scan is even cut off..(!) and there's 8 days to go
  6. Thanks, odin, I went out of my way not to mention it Ah well, it's true, and many of the have been bought with doubles / undesirable comics
  7. Murph, Your comment...that's just being a [!@#%^&^]. However, I don't really care Sold that POS MS5 for good money.
  8. Neat! I shoulda had posters as an option. Another poll?
  9. Cool! Basketball is one of my hobbies. Half jock, half geek
  10. Haven't had a poll in a while.. Let see what kind of closet collectors are out there... what do you collect?
  11. Pimpy, wtf is your new avatar? - enquiring minds want to know Dan
  12. wtf are you talking about? I said you were sniping on an immortal soul (auction of which was being run by someone I called a person_who_is_obnoxiously_self-impressed). And yes, I edited my post to spark a reaction. OK, no more of this. Any more interesting eBay sales?
  13. Yup, nice work Ricky. And what name calling? Check my posts!
  14. Are you trying to ruin anohter perfectly good thread ?
  15. Another memorable listing was the person_who_is_obnoxiously_self-impressed who was selling his immortal soul... High bid was $5
  16. Hey CI, I've read many of your posts on the subject and agree with some of what you say... but I am curious, just what %s of current retail do you see books crashing down to? I don't really care, I've basically come to grips with my addiction , I'll keep buying at a reasonable level whether prices are high, low, or indifferent. But again, I am curious as to how much of a cataclysm you foresee.
  17. Thanks blowout and CI. I have returned the favor. CI, I don't always agree with everything you say (Miracleman over Watchmen anyday ) but you definitely spice up the forum, which is to everyone's benefit, so I have no hesitation with the five stars! FYI, as far as I can recall, I had never rated you until today. OK, no more about the stars or we'll ruin this thread.
  18. Hey! Wicked - I'm four stars again!!! Now that's a dirty trick! Somebody booted me down to three stars again as soon as I posted this!
  19. That's a good point, but it would seem from the tone of Fishler's reply, if I understand it correctly, that a good faith attempt was made to identify and disclose known restoration and that it was documented in a letter at the time of sale... I think that would go a long way to proving Metropolis innocent of any wrongdoing. After all, even restoration experts occasionally miss some forms of restoration so it would likely not be reasonable to expect Metropolis to find every last bit of restoration. Even CGC allegedly misses resto at times. Although this is hearsay, I have friends that contend resto was missed on a few of their cgc submissions. (I make no such contention personally - strictly what other people have said). I think the issue has more to do with intentional deception vs. innocent oversight (pursuant to a good faith attempt at identifying and disclosing any restoration). And those letters would go a long way to disproving intentional deception...
  20. Yeah, Crusty wasn't exactly careful with his wording was he? He does not make it clear what parts of his 'story' are statements of fact and which are 'allegations from his sources.' Although I'm not a lawyer, it seems to me that he's made several statements of fact which Metropolis could handily dispute. ...and Crusty's own statement that Metropolis' alleged misdeeds give the hobby (and obviously Metropolis) a "HUGE" black eye would only serve to prove that Metropolis has suffered damages... oops! Of course, the above assumes that Metropolis' assertions are correct. I don't know and don't care to assert whose side of the story may or may not be correct. (aren't disclaimers grand?) Anyone besides myself and JLA_all_the_way see the irony in Crusty being sued? Yee hah!
  21. Fair enough, and that's probably what's happening. This should make your book and others like it an exception rather than the rule. I guess I just found it surprising, being an accountant, from an internal record-keeping point of view that CGC has chosen to do that. But then accountants don't design systems do they? Are you still planning on going through your slabbed books and checking anyway? My slabbed books probably aren't worth considering as I don't own that many and they wouldn't therefore make for much of a representative sample; however, I understand you own quite a few slabs? Dan
