  1. I don't believe those figures are correct. I agree with you on the 3000 for #1 1st, but I believe #1 2nd is 6,000 with #1 3rd being 15000(? I'm not as sure about this one, but still relatively sure and I think your confusion is that #3 1st, not #1 3rd is 35,000.). I believe #2 1st was 15,000 IIRC.
  2. The canadian reprints of US books suck, I agree, but I thought this thread was about canadian 'whites' (mostly original and very rare B&W GA cdn comics). I live in canada and although I haven't actively collected for a couple years, in the 15+ years of active collecting, attendance at cons, etc. I can only recall being offered one canadian white. I wasn't actively seeking them out, but still.... I looked at thousands upon thousands upon thousands of books at dozens and dozens of cons... and one copy of one issue (!) turns up??
  3. Wow, what a cool story How unlikely is that? Nice work $2000 is a steal to say the LEAST.
  4. I noticed that book as well and the winning bid was $8625.00 including the 15% commission. That book had some restoration on it but looks like it has nice pages. It's hard to value big key books that are coverless or missing pages but are still in high demand. Bathound, did you buy your book from al chao? That copy looks exactly like the copy he had, front cover missing, rest complete including back cover..
  5. Holy [embarrassing lack of self control]!
  6. Is that raw? yep, ended at 260, all books raw. Dickameoba bid on my set as well so that bodes well for you Ewan. Buyer hasn't paid yet though, which is a little worrying although it hasn't been too too long yet.
  7. What I'm shocked at is how much my Gaiman set is already getting on ebay. Selling 17-24 (nice grades) and already near $250?? I wasn't expecting half that. Has the series been hot lately or something?
  8. Well, yes and no. At 29, I'm a fair bit younger than you, so I think the chances of me finding a sweet golden age hoard at a price I can afford are pretty much slim to none. But.. I can enjoy them through your posts, and that will do! thanks again
  9. Amazing collection, Jon. Mind blowing, really. Thanks for sharing. ...so this is where all the good stuff gets locked up I bet all the best stuff is locked up in a few dozen collections like Jon's, and the rest of us fight for the scraps Thanks again, looking at your comic art site really made my day. cheers Dan
  10. Huge, ENORMOUS KUDOS to davidking623. My highest recommendation!!!!!!
  11. The thing I can't believe is that the man-things in question are green and have mold growing on them! And the owners are proud?
  12. Kudos to Drew for lightning fast payment and perfect communication. Thanks Drew!! Enjoy the X4
  13. Yeah, but the notes in overstreet aren't really a good indication. It's like he tried to make everything sound as lurid as possible in order to be more collectible example: kent blake of the secret service #1 - I remember reading this book and thinking it was LAME but overstreet made it sound like something that should never have been published!
  14. Kudos to 1st and keys for quick payment and a hassle free transaction!
  15. Agreed...... that's absolutely ridiculous. I bought a copy for $250 on ebay last year (it was on a long weekend so I guess not many people were watching the auction). I flipped it for $500, and the person that bought it from me also tried to flip it (I think unsuccessfully) with a reserve around $750. $1500 is too enthusiastic IMO. Still, you have a damn nice book there Just overpriced in the guide though. Anyway... to answer your question... I can't see cgc ever grading that as the gold edition, unfortunately, because they can't verify the signature (they've said all along that they won't verify signatures unless as part of the signature series, which would obviously be impossible in this case without a time machine), and as you said, there are really no other characteristics to distinguish it from a regular #1 - so it's effectively impossible for them to verify that it is a gold variant and still adhere to their own policies.
  16. Kudos to LordRahl for the quick payment, and thanks for the kind words
  17. Say, I finally figured out who your avatar is... that custom motorbike guy, right?
  18. Hey wiz, check it out. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3089373002&category=62053
  19. Congrats!! I don't suppose Paul has a spare? I'd a video collector myself
  20. Couldn't find a really good neo geo example but here's an O.K. one: METAL SLUG by SNK
  21. Not a record. Certain Neo Geo games are worth over 10k. Also the NES world champ cart has sold for as much as 5- 6k, reportedly.
  22. I think the value is more in the Ultima brand than the vic 20 brand. I don't know for sure, but don't think vic 20 stuff would at all be expensive in general. But that ultima game is rare and is the very first ultima game. With the millions of people playing ultima online I guess it's to be expected that the first "appearance" of the franchise, in a rare form like that, would be worth some money.
