  4. Yes, if DC were to publish a card set for Batman back then, it would probably be more like the Superman set from 1940. Even though I don't know who the Villains are I punched their names into the GCD and they are all there. It would be cool if DC brought a few of these villains back into the modern comics. Pretty cool set of cards. I wonder what all the numbers were on the backs of the cards?
  5. SOLD Adventures Into the Unknown 42 - Raw - Unrestored - 4.5 Nice gloss on front. Cover is attached at both staples but the bottom staple is only holding a "tab". CF is snug. 1/8" tear at top by the spine. Hint of a stain at top spine. Sliver of sun shadow at top right. Sun Shadow on back cover. Couple of chips on free edge of back cover.
  6. SOLD The Perfect Crime 30 - Raw - Unrestored - 3.0ish Strangulation cover. Cover is attached at both staples (barely). CF is snug. Spine roll. The front half of the comic including the cover has a hole punched in the lower right. $150 + $5 shipping.
  7. Blue Beetle 34 - raw - Unrestored - 4.5ish NAZI cover. Slight spine roll. Cover and centerfold are snug at the staples. Pencil on cover. Sliver of a sun shadow at bottom of back cover. Just a hint of a stain in the upper spine both front & back. A press would help this one out. $140 +5
  8. SOLD Captain Marvel Jr 22 - Raw - Unrestored 7.0 Structurally fantastic. Great spine. Cover and CF are snug at the staple. Pencil in upper left, Hint of sun shadow on free edge front, Sun-shadow on back top. Crease lower left of back cover. Unpressed. Nice interior.
  9. Whiz Comics 62 - Raw - Unrestored - 9.0ish This is a comic from that "P" comic collection on ebay a few years ago (the comics all had a "P" grease penciled onto the front). This comic is exceptional. I'm going to call it a 9.0, but I suppose it could go higher with a press. It's pretty fresh. Just a hint of a sun shadow on back cover. To me the page quality is close to white $350 + $5 shipping
  10. What is the spine like on your copy? These are all sets of Batman story pages that have the ads pulled out and then sewn together at the spine. Looks like they had a simple cover at one point but that's been ripped away. I bought a bunch of them, maybe 20 or so. They were part of that giant auction of "Original Batman Card art from the 1940s". To me it looks like a reference tool for the artist who made the cards (They were pulled out of the same attic). The cards look like Bob Kane original art so I was thinking maybe these were his personal file copies. When I saw the typed numbers it made me think "DC file copies"
  11. SOLD Crown Comics 9 - Raw - Unrestored - 7.0-7.5 This comic looks like a 9.0 or higher at first glance, but it's got a small crease on the back cover, and it's got some light rust on the staple that has just barely migrated to the cover paper. Cover & CF are well attached. Page quality is fantastic but a couple interior pages has some small foxing marks. WIth a press this'll look absolutely amazing, but there's nothing to be done about the staple (except remove it so it doesn't do any damage?)
  12. Action Comics 68 - Raw - Unrestored - 3.5ish The one staple is just barely holding on to a "tab" of the cover. It could easily detach, in fact, just assume it's detached. The centerfold is detached. The spine has a tiny piece that is missing from bottom, and as you can see there is a tiny piece about to fall off the top. $300 + $5 shipping
  13. Action Comics 70 - Raw - Unrestored 3.5-4.0 Cover is just barely holing at the 1 staple. Spine is actually pretty good. One interior wrap is slightly askew... it's not because it is married, but because it rotated slightly on the one staple. $300 + $5 shipping
  14. I agree that it's much nicer than the Heritage 8.5, but that 8.5 must have been graded at a "loose grading" time. I'd never give that one an 8.5
  15. I bought some super low grade coverless "reader" Batman comics and many of them have a typed number on the splash page. I'm assuming the numbers were "typed" and not printed when the pages ran thru the presses. It's not something you usually see on a comic. Do you think it might be an indicator of being a DC file comic? The spines of the comics are sewed together which is something I see every once in a while but not very often. Here's some examples.
  16. These 5 are the ONLY ones I recognized out of the 91 cards. I assume that last one is Bruce Wayne even though it's not labeled.
  17. SO many cool cards. I think there were 91 total cards.
  18. Has there bee any discussion on the boards about the cool original Batman Villain art that has been selling on ebay this last week. I haven't even heard of 95% of the villains. Really cool stuff Looks like it's all Bob Kane Art but none of it's signed. They're all the size of "Trading Cards".
  19. Such a nice high grade comic. There is some missing ink by the woman's hip.... the comic is so nice I'm not even sure why the ink is missing there. The paper is not scuffed there. If anyone knows what US comic this cover is from please let me know.
  20. I pulled this out to look at it today (man it's in good shape). And then as I stared at it I started laughing.... "Is that the Yellow Kid that the Mummy is strangling???"
  21. This really feels like a new comic. Even smells good. Once I press it.... look out. Has a 15c stamp on the front. Inside pages are muy fantastico. Anyone know what this cover matches up to in the US comic?
  22. Pretty nice PCH with Jack Kirby art. Cover and centerfold are snug at the staples. Spine has a little wear but is still ok (they used super low grade paper on these). That ink blotch on the back almost seems like a finger print. Comic smells a little musty/atticy
  23. It looks like it's in gorgeous shape even with the tiny amount of rust. Can't wait to see it.
