  1. "Inverted Gonads".... that would be a good name for a Head Banger Band.
  2. You get extra comedy points for posting that so quickly after my post.
  3. So this was an "as is" sale???? If the CF or any coupons are missing then the sale price was too high.
  4. Ozonetv, were you able to check the insides before the auction to make sure if it was complete? Or did they just say it was complete?
  5. I'd be very nervous buying that comic raw. $4200 seems like a good price for what it is though.
  6. Yes, and the back cover for Sgt Fury 8 has the same Dept #. The OP did his/her homework. There's a buyitnow for $15 on ebay right now. Or..... wait it out and buy one for under $10.
  7. Really nice find, really nice comic. Great spine. The "removed price sticker" is too bad, but I don't think there is any color touch there, so that's good. My bad news for you my friend, is the trimmed top . I'm 99% sure that's trimmed. Sorry. I'll say 4.0 purple label. If you find out it truly is trimmed, that can never be undone. It will forever have a PLOD. So a possible new question for you is.... since it will forever be a PLOD should you max out the grade? Your comic is an example of one that can be maxed out at a fairly high grade because it's in technically great shape right now. Might want to ask CCS for an opinion.
  8. I don't think it would drop the grade at all. Definitely a Green label though.
  9. It's such a low grade rough comic that you really don't have to worry about doing anything to it. Yes, carefully take that wrong back cover off and put the new one on. Sgt Fury 8 IS the correct back cover AND is very affordable so go for it. I know I wouldn't want this comic with the wrong back cover.
  10. Might have to find a boardie with a raw copy of the same comic to find out.
  11. The GCD is an amazing resource, however I find the GCD can be confusing in their page counts because sometimes they count the front and back covers as "pages". GA comics sometimes have "tipped in" (glued) single pages which makes for weird page counts. And sometimes they had single pages stapled in which left a "tab" like your photos on the other side of the wrap. So never assume a page was trimmed out of the comic even though it may look like that.
  12. I can't answer that with 100% accuracy. But it seems from personal experience, that "gripper marks" might run for at least 4 to 5 pages at a time. Maybe one of our boardies with printing experience can answer this better. I HATE when a gripper mark lands within a millimeter of the bottom free edge corner, because those corners usually end up ripping out (or bending out sideways) and leaving a bad corner for many pages.
  13. +1 Especially on "1 staple" WWII comics. Detached CFs on "1 staple" comics usually get Blue labels
  14. I agree. The OP just showed me a pic of the CF and it is not the easiest case to identify in this instance. From the photo he showed me the PQ looks the same and the staple holes look similar. You can't tell from the photo if the edge trims match up. But the "page gripper holes" at the bottom margin might be the biggest clue that it's married. Maybe we can get the OP to post the pic here, for discussion. After all.... the boards are here to help us all educate ourselves.
  15. So..... by any chance....... when you saw the CF was detached, did you look at the staple placements of the CF as compared to the rest of the comic?
  16. I believe GA comics are the easiest to detect Married CFs because: 1) pages were trimmed wonky during the GA so it's very rare for CF edges to match up exactly on GA comics when marrying them. 2) staple placement can be somewhat wonky on GA comics. 3) because of the age of the paper for GA comics, you get the biggest variance of PQ for GA comics, which can make it easy to spot married wraps. 4) many interior wraps have "gripper holes" at the bottom margin of the pages. If the gripper holes line up between the CF and the other interior pages it's a really good indicator that the CF belongs to the interior. If I were the OP and discovered the CF was detached I would have immediately looked at the staple placement to see if it matched up. All of us collectors should attempt to educate ourselves at least a little on what to look for when shelling out large sums of money for raw comics. Having said all of this, once the comic has been to CGC and a "married CF" has been detected, I believe a reputable dealer should offer a full refund (minus the $200 he already refunded). Some dealers might even go the extra yard and refund the CGC fee, or give an in-store discount off of merch... after all, if you're dealing high end comics, isn't one of the goals to build trust with your clients?
  17. I like "reversed wrapped", that works for me.
  18. I believe, just like the bindery machines attach 2 covers every once in a while.... they also attach the insides backwards sometimes. It's just one of those things that happens. I do believe though, that double covers are more common than this error. By the way.... we need a name for this error. "Inside out interior"?, "Backwards binding"?, what should this be called?
  19. Please, please, please, tell me that all the Amazons on Paradise Island don't still wear these ridiculous helmets. Are the helmets supposed to be B**bs or B*tts? Or both? So dumb. (maybe this was a visual joke by one of the artists?) If there was a male soldier on the island I suppose he would look like Bullet Man?
  20. Here's another. FF 63 Maybe this is more common than we thought. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fantastic-Four-1961-63-Manufacturing-ERROR-Title-Page-At-Centerfold-Fine/402037837291?hash=item5d9b528deb:g:aZAAAOSwEaJeHgfd
  21. My Thor 150 had a longer "main" story than your St 113, so no... the last page of mine says "Continued after next page" and then you turn the page and it's the back cover . Then you have to go back to the front of the comic and the story finishes 2 pages in.
  22. You can see in the photo that the interior pages are not trimmed in the same manner. It's just the cover.
  23. That's it. Exactly the same bindery error.
