Guy bought my TTA 27 CGC 9.0 PLOD a while back...
gadzukes replied to oldrover's topic in Comics General
Kudos to the buyer for getting a good press done (which upped the grade). But why the heck didn't he put some CT on that major spine tic towards the top? The comic has CT already, why not add a teenie bit more to make it present better and possibly get an even better grade? Gorgeous comic. I wish I would have bought it from you. -

Yes, and if it's a color touch, you're looking at bleeding magic marker so the CT removal will put holes in the cover and your grade will go way down. -

Restoration Value Reduction

Take the money and walk away. It would be great if the retailer even gave you a little extra for your grading fees (maybe an in-store discount?) Resto removal is really only for the mega-key issues like AF 15 or ASM 1. I'm guessing your comic probably had some color touch. Sure, you can send it back for grading, but consider this.... 1) shipping fee to send it in. 2) the fee for resto removal. 3) the fee for regrading. 4) the fee for them to ship it back. 5) your original grading/shipping fees. 6) LOTS of time waiting. 7) it will almost 100% get a lower grade with resto removal. Let's say it gets an 8.0 blue.... ASM 37s are going for about $400 right now in 8.0. Do you see now? The comic can become a money pit. Take the money and walk away. Thank the retailer for being a stand up guy. Find another nice copy (maybe a graded one) -
On the Captain America label it really looks like a lot of him will be covered.
-
It took them all day, but they corrected the problem and I could see my grade (not too bad).

When I saw these new labels, I thought they looked pretty good. But when you get them, they've got the CGC holostamp covering a good portion of them. I just got the new "Iron man label" on my TOS 39 Um..... I don't know.... I think they should have moved the image of Iron Man over to the left a little so he wasn't covered up so much. What do you guys think? Try to imagine the big holo-label covering the above images.

I just got notice that a bunch of my Spidey's are coming back from CGC. Here's what I'm getting: Spidey 14 - CGC 5.0 Best looking 5.0 you'll ever see. (Graders notes say "heavy Staining to the cover") I saw some light stains, but I didn't think I would get hit so hard. Spidey 28 - CGC 6.0 I thought I'd do better on this one too. (Quite a few graders notes for minimal things, but together they brought the grade down) Spidey 25 - CGC 9.0 That's what I'm talking about! I guessed 8.0 so it's nice to get a little love on this one.

I went to a comic book store today and saw...

It's been a while since I've seen those photos Hundreds of thousands of comics destroyed. BUT.... those people had been seduced by Wertham, the Comic Shop owner has no excuse. He's supposed to be a steward of the comics and the hobby. -
Are we actually going to have to wait until the mail comes like in the old days?
-
My "economy tier" batch of 17 comics shows shipped today, but when I click on the submission to look at the grades all it shows me is zero for all the grades. It shows me all of the graders notes but no grades. I wonder if someone just forgot to enter the data?

Definitely not a 6.0. But it's a great looking 4.0. I think it got hammered for the spine. I was thinking 4.0-4.5 myself looking at it in hand so I'm not disappointed. Graders notes = "moderate wear spine breaks color. multiple stain cover"
-
When you click thru the online submission the Label choice will pop up once you pick the tier you're choosing.
-
So..... maybe tomorrow

My Economy tier comics went to "graded/quality control" on Aug 16th. How many days do they usually stay at that status? It's been 4 business days so far.

The book is coming back to me now. It got a 4.0 with OW pages 4.0 is what I guessed and 6 of you guessed. One of you guessed 3.0, one of you guessed 3.5, two of you guessed 4.5, and one of you guessed 5.0. The majority nailed the grade.

House of Secrets 92 Resubmit?
gadzukes replied to WernerVonDoom's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
The back cover spine looks to be cleanable. I think once you clean it, it'll be a 50/50 chance between 9.4 & 9.6
