  1. Found this recently. I didn't even know it was Canadian until I got it. It's in really nice shape.
  2. I'm trying to figure out the demographic that they were marketing to. Surely Blacks would be offended by this ad, so I guess it's supposed to be a "funny" ad aimed at whites?
  3. I'm thinking one word might sum up everything here, "Greed" Greed on the sellers part with a nice heaping of fraud, and Greed on CGC's part for slabbing a book that should not be slabbed, but deciding to take the money anyway.
  4. I think the one time it might be ok use "Not 9.8" is if you're selling a 9.9.
  5. A nice Ginger 4 CGC 5.0 is up on ebay for $2000 OBO ( a boardie is selling it so you might be able to get a slightly better deal over here.) Only 2 have been graded higher. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ginger-4-Archie-CGC-5-0-White-Pages-1952/192848527803?hash=item2ce6ab01bb:g:MR0AAOSwuaBcgB2h
  6. The insides are stories from 3 different comics Millie the Model 24, 28, & Hedy 30. And the cover doesn't seem to have anything to do with any of the stories on the inside. "Beauty parade"? There's none of that on the inside. I love when you can find "New Covers" in foreign comics! And a Millie/Chili GGA cover is always a good cover to find.
  7. It's great when you can still pull a 5.5 when the CF is detached.
  8. Wow, we haven't had a post like this in quite a while! That #2 is SWEET. I recognize the #1 . And that number 3.... it's got to be the best presenting 2.5 I've ever seen.
  9. Here's a great GGA Australian Millie I just bought. Has anyone see this cover on any US Millie? Or is it exclusively an Australian cover? Looks like DeCarlo art. I notice ALL the interior stories say "by Stan Lee" but not any artists. It makes it seem that Stan is the artist too.
  10. So here's another Australian Reggie. This time he steals from Wilbur.
  11. I LOVE finding these Australian Archies where they've switched out one character for another. Notice Reggie's clothes..... with the bowtie and sweater it looks like he's been in Archie's closet. It's kind of like we're watching Archie, "Archie, Into the Archieverse"
  12. A couple of 1970s Australian mystery comics I just picked up. I guess they decided "Sex Sells!" because that "Nightmare Suspense" comic, even with that suggestive cover, doesn't even have ONE inside panel with a woman in it
  13. So..... to answer the question I posed when I titled this thread, "Yes, there is STILL a market for Western comics!" I have sold 9 of my western comics to boardies since I started the thread. And watching the explosion of "Western Comic Pride" being posted on this thread put a big smile on my face. My conclusion is that probably 90% of western comics are considered drek (especially photo covers, except for the Stan Lee Black Rider Cover or a few western romance covers), but the remaining 10% of covers have exciting art, or good looking western damsels which makes them irresistible to collectors. Thank you to everyone for posting covers, and by all means continue to post cool western covers as you get them.
  14. Well, Tonto does mean "Stupid" in Spanish. When I found out "Tonto" meant "Stupid" it really made me mad, because I really like Tonto in the TV show. He's a great character and definitely NOT stupid.
  15. "Sunday" Spirit Comics Bound edition (all are Chicago Sun). Contains the Sunday Spirit comics from each week including "The Spirit", "Lady Luck" and "Mr Mystic" There are 35 total Spirit Comics (which means 35 Lady Luck, and 35 Mr Mystic). Dates are as follows: April 26 1942, May 17 1942, May 24 1942, May 31 1942, June 7 1942, June 14 1942, June 21 1942, June 28 1942, July 5 1942, July 12 1942, July 19 1942, July 26 1942 August 2 1942, August 9 1942, August 16 1942, August 23 1942, Aug 30 1942, Sept 6 1942, Sept 13 1942, Sept 20 1942, Sept 27 1942, Oc 4 1942, Oct 11 1942, Oct 18 1942, Oct 25 1942, Nov 8 1942, Nov 15 1942, Nov 22 1942, Nov 29 1942, Dec 6 1942, Dec 13 1942, Dec 20 1942, Dec 27 1942, Jan 3 1943, & Jun 10 1943. Because this is bound I'm assuming the edges are trimmed. The 1st "decorative end paper" is detached, and the 1st comic page "April 26 1942" has a long tear along the spine. The pages can be handled fairly easy, they still have suppleness, but there are a pages that you need to be careful with.... basically the first couple pages. The extreme edges of the paper have tanned but are not brittle. As a weird bonus there is a cutout "Flash Gordon" pasted to one of the endpapers in the front and a large "Donald Duck" cut out pasted on one of the rear endpapers. $499 $449 $419
  16. For some reason this comic is a slightly different size than normal comics.
  17. Such LARGE signatures. Fred Harman is like the John Hancock of comic signatures. Is there any comic artist who signs his art bigger than him?
  18. Ok.... since we're posting, I guess I'll add some of the comics that I started this thread about. All have "Lois Stewart" neatly stamped on the cover & splash page. At least it's a nice small stamp.
