Why can't sellers get the comic packing thing right?
gadzukes replied to gadzukes's topic in Comics General
I understand that, but you're selling to someone who collects the item you're selling. Why wouldn't you try to get it to them in good condition? -
Luckily these were lowgrade to begin with, but if they were mid to high grade I would be very upset right now.... No cardboard in the envelope and the string is slightly digging into the comics and has left some marks.

Lots of great unslabbed single Cap 1 pages being sold by a boardie on ebay, including some Red Skull pages. The page quality looks to be pretty nice. And he also listed this https://www.ebay.com/itm/Captain-America-1-Staples-Only-Removed-From-Book-Rare-Complete-Your-Copy-Timley/123462224833?hash=item1cbeec0bc1:g:WpYAAOSwo3Fb2gT8:rk:1:pf:0

Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...
gadzukes replied to PeterPark's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
I was thinking of selling my 9.6 Xmen 130 (dazzler) and I just noticed on GPA that it's really been trending up. Is there a movie that's been announced? What am I missing? I never thought Dazzler was all that special. -
What's new in your Silver Age collection this week
gadzukes replied to Silver's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
I really love these Silverage Australian variants. A bunch of these came up on ebay a few weeks ago. I bid on all of them but this was the only one I won. I thought from the cover art the interior might be FF26, but it turns out the interior is to FF11 (first impossible man) The early Ironman armor is what made me want this one. I think the cameo of Hulk's feet is hilarious. -
This made me laugh. I found a cheap copy of "Ziggy Pig Silly Seal Comics" #2 on ebay last week. I kind of like these old Marvel/Timely cartoon books so I pick them up when I see them at low prices. I got it in the mail today and it's not too bad.... complete, maybe a 4.0. But as I was paging thru it I found an ad page that had an image completely pasted over (censored) with pieces of Sunday comic strips. I thought something must have REALLY offended the reader to make him cover that up. I suspected what the image was (because I've seen lots of these old ads) but I thought I'd try to remove the pasted on pieces to have a look. They wouldn't come off just by carefully tugging because the glue was strong so I saturated the whole area with water and tried again. All of the pieces came off. Turns out the offensive image was..... a real photo of Miss America. Any one else ever find a censored comic like this?

SHOULD I BE UPSET ABOUT THIS STAN LEE SIGNATURE?
gadzukes replied to WEB_SLINGER2000's topic in The Signature Room
That's one of the smallest Stan sigs I've ever seen. You can't complain if you saw a pic of it before you purchased it. -
new batch of CGC books - no inner well :(
gadzukes replied to jsilverjanet's topic in Comics General
I got a shipment in last week and all of them had the regular inner wells. Mine were all Golden age so maybe they do the modern age wells different because the books are thinner? Hmmmm.... maybe the quality control squad was out bowling the night yours came thru. -
Luckily Ebay & Paypal charge virtually no fees so you can maximize your profits . Also remember, once you sell over $20,000 on ebay they send you a 1099 form so Uncle Sam can make sure he gets a % of your remaining profits.

I bid over $4000 myself and would have been ecstatic to have it. But...... I didn't want to go crazy so I pulled the plug on my bidding. I think I was 4th in the bidding so it was more than 2 that bid it up.

Did anyone else see this coverless lowgrade trimmed Batman 1 on ebay? I'll bet the winner is pretty happy. It's in horrible shape but $4606 for 31 of 32 pages including the CF is not too bad. I think a lot of people missed it because the title said "Batman one" instead of "Batman 1". The item number is 232959630163 Here's the link. hopefully it'll come up. https://www.ebay.com/itm/BATMAN-ONE-COVER-LESS-MISSING-LAST-PAGE-DC-PUBLICATIONS-1940-/232959630163?nordt=true&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l44720

Grades are in - A Trifecta of Groots
gadzukes replied to gadzukes's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
If you click on the photos they get bigger. Thanks for the input. -
Yes, I know this isn't the norm for this Forum, but I thought it might be fun to have 3 of the same side by side. If you don't want to participate, I understand. I actually posted the middle one by itself a month ago on here, but then I found 2 more in my collection so I thought I'd put them side by side. The 3 of you who commented on that thread gave it a 2.0. Let's call these "A", "B", & "C". If you click on the photos they will get bigger (they do on my computer) "A" presents well. Cover & CF are attached snug at staples. Crease upper right. 1/2" spine split under top staple. Tiny ownership sticker inside front cover. Nice interior. "B" probably shows the most wear of these 3. Cover & CF are attached at staples (top staple only holding a flap). 1/2" spine split at bottom. Stain at top of back cover. Slight spine roll. "C" Cover & CF attached snug at both staples. Small dark stain in Groot's right hand. Nice interior. Back cover has a 1/2" tear on the edge & a 1" tear at the top. One interior page has a 1" tear at the top margin.

Wow, whoever got that 2017 9.4 got a great deal. Or..... maybe ST115 is not the key issue I thought it was.
-
Yes, this helps. I was guessing around $8000. So a $10k asking price validates my guess. By the way..... ST 115 is still a VERY affordable book to pick up in most grades.
-
Ok, this question is about ST115 and not St110, but I thought this thread would be the best place to ask.... I have an ST115 9.4 and when I check GPA there has not been a sale since 2013. Since GPA doesn't show all sales data, does anyone happen to know the prices of any 9.4s that have sold recently that weren't submitted to GPA?
-
I see flaws on the front cover (CT resto and a little wear), and I see many creases on the back cover (mostly at the top), but the 3rd photo shows sparkling white perfect corners at the top. So,..... I'm going to guess that the cover is a reproduction of a restored AF15. If my memory serves me, over a decade ago Matt N was making "imperfect" Af15 cover recreations for people with coverless copies.

Grade is in......... Universal 6.5
