  1. Posted this in the Australian thread but couldn't resist posting it here too. Cool Aussie edition
  2. Even more funny is the cover for #14 advertises "the Isle of Menace" and "Zoo for Sale" yet neither of those stories are inside.
  3. I love finding stuff like this. Have you guys ever seen these before? Even though the Superboy says it's issue 6, it's actually #1. Issues 1-5 were called Adventures of Superboy and I believe were versions of the 1st superboy Adventure comics. I like the 14 because it's got the 1st version of "Supergirl". I have to admit I didn't know this story existed until I got this comic (might be a good one to get the American version of).
  4. The .5 bumps are a funny thing..... Looking at 90 day GPA averages, the 14 7.0s that have been sold are out performing the 13 7.5s that have been sold. hmmmmm.
  5. CGC just graded this and is sending it back to me. 6.5 Blue with OW pages. Woo hoo
  6. GRADE IS IN........ 7.0 with OW - W pages I'm cool with that. I didn't get it pressed like some of you said I should. I wonder if I would have gotten that 1/2 grade bump?
  7. GRADE IS IN....... 6.5 Blue Label with OW pages. Woo Hoo!!! I'm pretty stoked, this is a tough book to find in higher grades. You guys were spot on with your grades. I was hoping for 7.0, but I suspected 6.5 and that's what it got.
  8. No need...... I just refreshed the status page and it shows they're shipped. Woo Hoo They were at "Graded/quality control" for 1 1/2 business days.
  9. Once an order hits "Graded Quality Control" how much longer is the wait until shipped? Does it still have to do with the grading tier it was submitted under?
  10. I'm sure you already know this, but Pressing doesn't take out stains, tears, or gouges. I'm my opinion a press of this comic isn't going to help much. The good news is even though you kind of botched the purchase you still came away with a valuable comic that is trending upward in value. A couple years from now your whole attitude about the purchase might change if the value continues to rise. I overpaid for an AF15 about 5 years ago and I've been handsomely rewarded for my gaffe.
  11. I'm thinking 4.0-4.5. Looks like a stain at the top of the back cover. A few small tears. There's a scratch or gouge on Collosus' head. This comic is actually pretty hot right now. GPA shows the last 7 4.0s sold for an average of US $603
  12. Today is 18 business days and my 2 Standards just moved to "Graded" status. I'll predict they ship out by Tuesday.
  13. I just used the coupon and bought the front cover to GA Daredevil 3 for $95 - $14 = $81. I've got a coverless copy so I thought I'd pull the trigger on a nice front cover. I asked the seller last week if he'd let it go for $80 and he said "no". This coupon just rescued it for me.
  14. I'm at 17 business days on my 2 Standards and they are still at verified.
  15. You're not saying that's a decent cover are you? That's a 1.0 cover. I might go $2500 on a cover like that. How much would you pay for that cover?
  16. Always expect the worst when you buy a PGX, and price/value it accordingly. The OP valued it too close to what a CGC 4.5 would sell for. Looking at the pic of the Xmen 1 I thought it looked no better than a 4.0 which is around a $4500 - $5000 book, so "assume" something is funky about it (because it's PGX) and only bid $2500. 3 results can happen: 1) You lose out to some other bidder.... so no big deal. 2) You win it and Yup, it turns out to be funky.... at least you priced it right. 3) You win it and it comes back as a CGC 4.0 (or higher) blue.... then you win big time. Just understand the risks you're taking anytime you buy a PGX. If you don't like risks then stick to CGC. NEVER pay CGC values for a PGX book, you will lose virtually every time.
  17. Check this out: https://www.ebay.com/itm/123295848680?ul_noapp=true
  18. There are many "back covers" from other marvel books that are a match to the back cover of Af15, so I would never spend big money on a slabbed one or a raw one that claimed to be authentic unless you could see some of the color from the front cover on the spine.
  19. I bought the full AF15 cover offered here on the boards last month for $3750 which I think was an amazing deal. It actually had some tiny dog ears that I was able to unbend and make look better. I feel extremely lucky to have found it at the price I got it for. It was up for many hours before I made an offer on it. I'm actually curious as to why no one else made an offer on it. It shows no signs of resto. The cover was offered for $4500 which I think was fair, but I made an offer for $3750 and the seller was fine with that. Lucky me.
  20. I saw that 9.2.... (I think mine looks better ) I also see the 9.6 on ebay. Wow that one looks amazing.
  21. Doc Ock > Vulture... it should be doing better than #2. Remember about 15 years ago when FF4 & FF5 were basically the same price? Look at the difference between the two now (although I think subby is going to start kickin butt)
  22. Hmmmm.... So the CCS "Quick Press" might be just a money grab. I've used that service before and when my books came back from CGC I honestly couldn't tell anything had been pressed out. I could still see the same shallow dimples that I thought would be pressed out. A real press has a humidity & a heat element to it , right? Whereas a "quick press" is probably just a heat press.
  23. Do you by any chance, have a photo example of what you're referring to? (comic in slab changing it's spine alignment). I would think once it's sealed in the mylar it would stay.
  24. That is one of the scariest videos I've ever seen. Please don't ever try this, you will wreck your comics, pop staples, and swear a lot.
