  1. I finally sent this in for grading. It's coming back as a Blue 5.0
  2. I now have a feeling this friend of mine might go after both the Action 1 AND all of the Marvel keys in high grade. I hope he lets me help him with this. I want to see some of these as they come in. I'll chime back in on this if/when it starts to happen.
  3. Last 2 scrap books are filled with 170 Tarzan sunday strips starting with # 69 from 7/3/1932 All in all a pretty interesting find. I'm excited.
  4. Buck Rogers strips from 285-449 in 2 books. 164 total strips! I can't wait to read these.
  5. Here is Flash Gordon Strip 1 thru 186 in 2 books. The 1st book is 1-29, with the strips cut in half. The 2nd book has strips 30-186 in the full format. There is SUCH GOOD ART in this book!
  6. OK so here is a pretty cool find I made..... 7 giant scrap books filled with 100s of Sunday strips. Here is Jungle Jim strip 1 thru strip 169 (that's a lot of strips!)
  7. No, it's not comic art. It's a nice piece from a major known artist. Once it's all finalized maybe I'll post a pic here.
  8. I don't want to say because the deal has not been fully finalized. I will say it's a nice piece he found at a persons house and he picked it up for virtually nothing. My friend has a wealth of art knowledge and has found MANY original pieces thru the years that were mis-labeled or unidentified, (but he knew). Knowledge is power in just about everything we do.
  9. I put a feeler out to him about the whole "collect what you like" business and he responded that he "liked" all of it. He's been out of the hobby for at least a decade, but is going to be able to jump back in in a major way. When you have that big of a chunk of change to spend, there are just SO many options in how to divy up the $. I think a complete Action 1 would be pretty cool, but a set of High Grade Marvel keys would be awesome too. He could probably go 8.0 on a couple pricey Marvel keys and into the mid 9.0 on many of them for the same $ as a complete Action 1
  10. A friend of mine is selling a piece of artwork to an art investor for a big chunk of change (possibly a couple mil) He used to collect comics and has a soft spot for them, but got rid of his collection about a decade ago. He emailed me today and told me he wants to take $300k - $500k of it and...., "I'd like to make a serious investment in Comic(s). I am thinking either the best Action 1 I can find, or the entire set of main Marvel Keys from the silver age in 7.0 or higher." He saw the Voldy Action 1 on ebay right now, but I told him he might want to stay away from big resto (plus that price! ) I know this is a GA forum so you guys might be biased, but I wanted to get your opinions. If you seriously had the money to spend, which way would you go? I told him he may want to invest every dime in AF15 7.0s and ASM 1s.
  11. I had no idea he worked in comics. I learn something new almost everyday on the boards. Thanks for posting that BB
  12. What issue of Ace is the 1st Prince Valiant in?
  13. Just reading those 3 strips that you posted Arkadin, makes me think it's worth a read. Here's another of the S.C. comics that I just got. They're SOOO nice. You might be right, maybe they're file copies.
  14. Nice run of Steve Canyon. I've never read a Steve Canyon comic. Are they good? I recently bought some high grade Steve Canyon comics. I've got them in at CGC right now getting graded. They look perfect to me so I wonder how high they'll grade. The art is very good. I might have to buy a reprint collection to read.
  15. What about other strips you collect? How many 1st strips do you have?
  16. Thanks for the link Paul. Do you know if any other comics ever won the award?
  17. I just picked up a Betty & Veronica 41 and I saw this page on the inside. Anyone know much about the prestigious "Maggie Award"? What other comics won it? "The capacity of comics to entertain"
  18. That thread was a fun read. It's amazing how fast it went off the rails, but I suppose it was good advise to not send pics.
  19. I'll bet you made him a happy camper too, since he didn't even know they were there. That's like found money for him.
  20. I'd like to see a pic of that. Do you still have it?
  21. Robot Man, I have always loved this thread. EVERY time I see a new posting I check in because I know I will see something cool and unique. Thank You.
  22. I imagine print runs were enormous, however, how many of these do you suppose survived? You collect these BB-Gun, right? How many of this Flash Gordon 1s have you found?
  23. This is coming my way in the mail. Along with a bunch more. I can't wait to see them. The original owner cut each strip in half and made a comic book out of it. I'm not sure how many pages will be in the book, but I think it'll be a sequential run of quite a few.
