  1. I forgot about this Schomburg cover. This Wonder Comics cover came out 3 months before the Startling 49.
  2. Maybe your wife is hinting that she wants to do some roll-playing. Time to install a wheel with chains in your basement
  3. You'll have to buy Ace comics #2 to get the next part of the story.
  4. It's not a tracing like many of the others but it's pretty close.
  5. OK.... I've got free time today Let's compare. 2nd photo I stacked the girls on top of each other (there's a joke there somewhere) 3rd photo is just for fun. Too bad I don't have a color printer.
  6. It's not a "traced" swipe, but the pose is SO close.... and the way the woman's arms are bound behind her back and at her ankles. I think Schomburg was a good enough artist that he didn't have to do a Traceswipe (like Bob Kane did). He just looked at the art and did his close rendition of it.
  7. Doom, like Loki, is a complicated character. That's what makes them so appealing. They're both Narcissistic Megalomaniacs. Loki seems to have found his "good side" and maybe learned humility through the TVA, but..... he may have a mental illness that makes him turn back to more of an evil character at some point. If Doom were to get a similar treatment within the MCU..... who knows? I hope he's in more than 1 movie, that's for sure. You know who else is a complicated character, who straddles both "good guy" and "bad guy".?..... Submariner. I am SO hoping to see a Super Villain Team-Up
  8. After C&P.... Solid 4.5 with a chance at 5.0 Any cool story behind this find?
  9. YEAH..... and look what happened with Loki! JIM 85 is barely moving..... I think you can't go wrong with either comic, but from a financial point of view.... Xmen 1 is going to appreciate at a faster rate.
  10. That's the one. Thanks for posting. Just noticed under the words "Science Stories" it says "NeoPlastic -... Therapy". Perhaps the 1st reference to "Plastic Surgery"?
  11. Science Comics 2 is one of my favorite covers. I know the woman in the test tube was swiped from a pulp. Anyone have a pic of that?
  12. Alex Raymond was one heck of an artist. Wow. I wonder what sources he drew from. Models?
  13. Threads like this are where, as a comic fan, you can really get an education. This is really fascinating stuff. Has any entrepreneur made a book out of this yet? I'd buy that book in a heartbeat.
  14. Here's a little Timely/Marvel gem I just spied in a copy of Joker Comics 8. Overstreet doesn't mention it, and CGC doesn't note it on their label so.... does anyone even know it exists? A one page interior strip called "Otto Bragg and Snippy" I love finding stuff like this!
  15. Also, consider how many times a single comic might exchange hands thru the years. Each time... tax tax tax.
  16. If, by story, you mean where did these come from.... I bought a full short box last year on ebay of coverless and mostly incomplete "junk". I could tell from the photos that it was really old stuff so, as bad and ragged as a lot of it looked.... I bought it and I had a lot of fun using the GCD to identify the comics. I can't remember what I paid but I think it was upwards of $1500 There were many loose covers too so I was able to match covers to interiors. There came a point last year where I got tired of identifying and left the box alone.... until yesterday & today when I finished identifying everything. Walt Disney 1 (with cover) Action Comics 15 (and many more early Action parts) Adventure 40 Ace Comics 1 The Funnies 1 Suspence 8 World's Finest 17 (with cover) A few early Marvel Mystery Comics including 2 copies of MMC 13 A couple Captain America, Human Torch Mystery Men, Wonderworld, The Flame Lots of Smash, Famous Funnies, Comics on Parade, Feature, Ace, Tip Top, etc.... So lots of good comics, but only about 5% were complete. Definitely worth the money I paid.
  17. Just found a coverless inc "The Funnies 1" and a "New Adventure Comics 13" in the same box. Pretty cool finds from the dawn of comics.
  18. I just found my 1st Gerber 10... well... I found a coverless copy with 36 pages of it. Have we determined if Gerber numbers are even remotely correct?. New Adventure comics 13. It shocked me to look in the Gerber guide and see that he considers it a 10. I see 9 of these listed on the census. Here's a Splash page from the inside.
