  1. I have to agree with Mike here. Mike - I remember that time I was tire-kicking a TTA of yours via PM - I wanted a BC scan or something. Meanwhile FT came through and did the on that book plus multiple others. Even though you gave me right of first refusal on that book, it made more sense to me to relinquish my claim, since FT was buying a bunch of other books, and if I kept my claim, it would mean you having to send a package to me with one book in it. I applaud your business sense - it definitely makes me a loyal repeat customer. And, as far as myself goes, others can judge whether I'm just a sap for "losing" the book on purpose, or whether I did the right thing in relation to the other two parties involved. I have to admit, it was easy to give the book up to FT, as he is another stand-up guy, of who I am also a loyal repeat customer. Mike Actually... :foryou:
  2. Excellent. I would have used a few more swear words, though. It's the new, kinder, gentler FT...you :censored:
  3. Through bitter experience, I have reached the point where I let rule. This is what I state in any of my sales threads... 'As usual trumps all. PMs can be sent my way, and I’ll answer them as soon as I can, but until you post that little man in the thread, the books aren’t yours.' There are a few reasons for this. One, it makes it very clear who won what and there is no room for argument. Early days and I had a couple of sales that had to be thrashed out as to who won what. It wasn't pleasant and there is bound to be an aggrieved party. Two, I simply don't have the time to exchange numerous PMs with a couple of parties, explaining why I've sold it to one boarder and not another. Three, I've been led down the garden path on countless occasions with boarders sending offers, asking questions, double-checking shipping, requesting additional scans. They have every right to do so, and I will answer their queries. (thumbs u However, given the number who thank me for my time, but decide against the purchase, and the number who never even have the courtesy to tell me they are no longer interested, I'm ed if I'm going to take the book(s) off market until they've reached a decision. If you're interested in some stuff, and you tell me you are, but you want to see scans, work a discount...fine. I'll work with you. But please don't get upset if someone else is willing to buy 'as is' and posts the Quite frankly, having a very black and white rule in place is about the only way I could handle it.
  4. If you don't start working on your charm, I'm going to make you sit next to my missus again for an evening.
  5. It's so obvious. One is a single digit, the other two are double digits. Yeah. I suspect Moondog was giving us the single digit.
  6. I can't remember the last time anyone had 4, much less 7, what I would consider to be active threads. Who are all these multi-thread posters? Well, Moondog did about two weeks ago. Three of them were started on the same evening. (thumbs u See, that was a bunch of postings that were 1) totally cool because the books where really cool 2) by a well respected and level headed member 3) probably done out of simple ignorance and not maliciously Had moondog been told he probably would not have done it. And without fuss no less. The rules need to be simple and clear. And they need to be posted as a page before the first post is made (ie before a new thread is created in the selling forum) so that noone can miss them or say they didn't know when their thread gets pulled. R. You're more wrong than a big old wrong thing, Roy. Moondog did exactly the same thing a few months prior to this, and was told about it in his various threads, and he went into total and utter meltdown, caling boarders for all sort of things. And then he came back two weeks ago and repeated his efforts. It also doesn't matter how 'cool' his books are...to a lot of members around here, 1st Print Walking Dead are cool, and to hell with all this GA bollocks. That's very much a subjective judgement call, made on your own preferences. And just a question...how on earth do you justify starting two seperate threads for mid-grade X-Men #6 and X-Men #49 & #50?
  7. Yep. Like when I got to pee real bad. Flomax Have you got #2 in 9.0 or better?
  8. Jim, if we could agree some simple guidelines, I suspect that, providing there's not a lot of work involved, Arch would be happy to enforce them. (thumbs u

  10. Yup. That's getting my vote. Post one new thread a day. Or add to one thread a day. The beauty of this is that you then can break your sales items down into as many threads as you think appropriate, given their nature, but you can't pimp more than one at a time. (thumbs u unless somebody bumps the various threads then we still end up with one person owning the front page That really can't be avoided. However, it would soon become apparent if certain individuals were using their beeyatches to do their dirty work.

  12. What about 270 pages? I've honestly done it that way to avoid criticism. The thread heading was broad enough to cover just about everything I had to list, which was intentional, and I didn't want it to seem as though every few days, I was starting yet another thread. Maybe I should just start it from scratch again?
  13. So my Hulk #1 (CGC Graded 6.5) should have been in the same thread as my Avengers: The Crossing (CGC Graded 9.6)? Yes You don't actually know what either title is, do you?
  14. So my Hulk #1 (CGC Graded 6.5) should have been in the same thread as my Avengers: The Crossing (CGC Graded 9.6)?
  15. OK, I was very much until I read that last sentence. Mike, this is a recipe for some of the dealers to have the whole front page to themselves. Four threads per day, bump the previous day's threads, and the day before's... And to be honest, number of items is not relevant. If they are similar, they can all go in the same thread. Trust me, it can work. (thumbs u
  16. I think a very simple, and very simply managed, rule would be that you can only post one new thread, or post to one existing thread, per day. You could have a few threads running, but they could not be added to with new books or 'updates' on the same day. Choose your poison and then use patience with your other thread(s). Now, we need to fine-tune this, but I reckon that's a good start.
  17. Nah, actually I'm not. But I will be starting a few new threads during the week, due to the items being sufficiently different to my ongoing Silver/Bronze thread. I've got a bunch of Gold Key/King/Archie/Charlton books from the '60s and '70s, centred around an almost complete run of Phantom and including a '64 Shadow #2 Double Cover! I've also got a sweet set of Bone #1 through #14, all signed by Jeff Smith. And then I'm branching out into Copper/Moderns. This will include full sets of Miracleman, Marvel Zombies, Fear Agent, Planetary, Bone, 30 Days Of Night (all series) as well as Sandman #1 through #20, Preacher #1 through #10...and a Signature Series Dark Knight Returns #1!
  18. (thumbs u I'll be sure to bump them during the wee hours of the US to ensure that certain members' multiple sales threads get kept off the front page! You're on for a beer or two when you're next in London!
  19. More than two in my opinion. And just to be clear, I politely mentioned Dale's three threads in one day and why it might not be a good idea. He has decided to be pretty bullheaded about the matter...very similiar to what happened in his other pulled sales thread. Jim Oh, there's a surprise. Tell you what...I'm going to start a new thread every time I have more than twenty books to sell. I'll have the whole front page all to myself, 24/7. Or I could decide to be reasonable and fair to everyone else and just keep using the same thread until it reaches...oh, let's say 270 pages. 270 pages of drek :cloud9: That's the point...it's not all been drek. I've posted a Batman #84 in there, Neal Adams X-Men, FF from about #20 through to #200...and just about anything inbetween. Ah, what's the ing point...be on the look-out for as many threads as I feel like starting on any given evening. (thumbs u

  21. Or perhaps, it could come up as a dialog box at the post creation date, but having it in the thread just scares people away. It also appears to be attributed to the seller. A little knowledge is a dangerous thiing.
