  1. I'm thinking Abraham at this point too. He didn't get the arrow in the head like he did in the comics but Denise did. I bet that's because they were saving him for this. Plus he's ready to have babies with Sasha after a month...really??? Jim
  2. Oh its far from perfect but $100 CDN = $70 US and you probably couldn't find a VG for $70 nowadays. Jim
  3. Funny story...picked up this "bigger Campbell" book on the weekend. A dealer friend of mine pulled this out of a $2.00 bin and I was nearby. When he left the booth I asked him how much for it? He said they go for about $200 online, why don't we split it at $100? I pulled out the money immediately. I think it's a win/win for both of us. He makes $98 in ten seconds and I get it at less than fair market value. You just never know what may show up in the $2.00 bins. Jim
  4. Aren't you the one who said this is gonna be complete and utter garbage? Jim
  5. They looked like mock ups to me. Best line, as they are filming "Kid Colt" "A movie based on a comic book, that will never work" Jim
  6. Have bought the last two Campbell's at an LCS for $15 each, Extraordinary X-Men and Ms. Marvel. Today I walked in and the Campbell variant for A-Force was $25. They are all the same ratios as the other two, aren't they? Am I gonna regret putting it back? Jim
  7. Speaking of tough ones to find: Nintendo Comics System Valiant! 51 watchers! It's the 2nd most watched CGC Graded comic on eBay right now. Unfreaking-believable. I'm watching it because it seems like the cool thing to do. Neither of the above comics are CGC graded. Here's the one I was talking about. It doesn`t surprise me at all. Nintendo was the Marvel of the 1960s in the 1980s to that generation. Great franchises started here Mario,Zelda, and Metroid. A pretty great trio of franchises that can compare in popularity to Spider-Man,Hulk and Fantastic Four. That audience from the mid 1980s to earlier 1990s has grown up and is nostalgic for their heroes. That NN (Preview) book is an absolute PITA to find. I've bought every copy I have ever found (two). When I talked to Bob Layton a few years ago he told me that the Nintendo franchise almost bankrupted Valiant before they did a single Superhero book. Jim
  8. I know it's a crazy price...besides the creases, is that foxing on the back cover of the book or is supposed to look that way? Jim
  9. Gotta bump this thread up... There's an SDCC #510 up on EBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Uncanny-X-Men-510-SDCC-Sketch-Variant-Cover-J-Scott-Campbell-Very-Rare-/151936084073?hash=item236018a869:g:R1oAAOSwJkJWh0uX Jim
  10. And is Ruby Red the same as the "smoking gun" variant? http://www.ebay.com/itm/DANGER-GIRL-2-Smoking-Gun-Variant-Cover-CGC-9-8-1st-Print-J-SCOTT-CAMPBELL-/281885728609?hash=item41a1b2df61:g:i0IAAOSwhkRWb4NB Jim
  11. Not bad list almost the same but have to use all his work 1. Wolverine #1 Deadpool (Est qty 450) 2. Danger Girl #2 Ruby Red (Est qty 400) 3. Siege #3 (Est qty 400) 4. Uncanny xmen 510 partial sketch (Est qty 500) 5. Amazing Spider-Man Presents: Black Cat (2010) #1 Variant Edition (Est qty 800) 6. Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #688 Variant Edition (Est qty 500-600) 7. Uncanny X-Men (1963) #510 Variant Edition 8. Black Widow (2010) #6 Variant Edition (1-25) 9. Superior Spider-Man (2013) #20 Variant Edition (1-50) 10. Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #648 Variant Edition Great list...I'd love to see rough estimates of #6-10 Jim
  12. I'm about a month in since I picked up my first JSC book. This is where I'm at so far. ASM #30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 492, 493, 500, 601, 606, A vs X #3 variant Black Panther #6 Black Widow #6 variant Fall of the Hulks #1, 2, 3 Marvel Divas #1 Ms. Marvel #2 variant Extraordinary X-Men #1 variant Although I'd like to get all the "big books" first, I think an ASM Presents Black Cat is at the top of my list. I went for the JSC Avengers cover in CLink a couple of weeks ago but didn't push it to the 5k I probably should have as l have the worst collecting ADD on the boards if not the planet, and want to make sure this "phase" lasts past Christmas and into the new year. Jim
  13. I only bought the color set, B&W store variants are rarely all that great, but JSC is an outlier on almost everything he touches. Ms. Marvel #2 1:20 Marvel 92 Variant isn't bad either. Sellers aren't trying to hype that cover as much as the Silk #3 cover though. I'm just starting to build a JSC set (all colour, no sketch Marvel books) and I'm still trying to figure out if I want to do store variants or not. My problem is all those sweet books with Gwen on them which made me notice JSC in the first place are all usually Midtown variants. Jim
  14. Now that I've been doing more research is it just me or does an ASM #4 actually/repeatedly sell for more as just the colour variant than the reverse negative book? Jim
  15. Newbie JSC fan here....can anyone tell me what's the deal with ASM #648 cover. It appears the black and white/sketch was a 1 in 200 and the colour was 1 in a 100 but it seems like the colour is scarcer and carries a premium price over the sketch...what's the deal, any explanations??? Secondly the 10 most desired/valuable books from my research appears to be Uncanny 510 Wolvie #1 Siege #3 ASM #648 colour ASM presents Black Cat #1 Black Widow #6 GOTG #4 Superior Spidey #20 ASM #4 (reverse negative) Does the ASM #4 really belong on the list, and what would be #10th on the list??? Any input is much appreciated. Jim
  16. This in bold has me annoyed. Magneto would never bow down to Apocalypse. Such a cheesy way to introduce 2 other main characters into the X-men franchise. Uhhhhh I was so excited for 2016.....now IMO BvS and X-men look like aboslute DREK. I can't believe Suicide Squad is going to steal the show. Was Spectre drek...is that why you took it out of your name? Trailer looks awesome. So does BvsS and I've never seen a Batman flick in the theatre, this time I will. Jim
  17. I GPA disagrees with this statement. Any other examples? What the Halifax are you talking about? 2015 GPA high 2014 GPA High 9.6. $3200. $2313 one sale. Really? 9.4. 1355. $1332 flat 9.2. 825. $656 skewing the data by listing only the high 9.0. 567. $430 ok. You're right 8.5. 530. $450 jan 2015 high but 3 other sales in 2015 decline 8.0. 450. $355 you appear correct here as well Jim Is there any other hype around this character? I am not familiar with him. If you feel confident that there is enough data to suggest growth then I wish you luck. I understand I said the peak is always before release. I suppose I will reduce "always" to "the vast majority". I would personally not be very confident in purchasing this book hoping for gains with this data. You also said it has risen "pretty much across the board". This implies a majority to me which it is clearly not since a quick glance at averages shows me a decline or flat sales in the majority of grades. So, what the Fredricton are YOU talking about? My point was this, although I get what you were saying and generally it's correct, that Cap #117 was a movie hype book, for a movie that came out in April 2014. That set GPA highs all in the higher grades in 2015 and not in Feb-March 2014. You were looking for an example, and I tried my best to provide it. Jim
  18. GPA disagrees with this statement. Any other examples? What the Halifax are you talking about? 2015 GPA high 2014 GPA High 9.6. $3200. $2313 9.4. 1355. $1332 9.2. 825. $656 9.0. 567. $430 8.5. 530. $450 8.0. 450. $355 Jim
  19. Found another one....Cap #117 first Falcon. Pretty much across the board all 2015's GPA highs are stronger than 2014's which was the year Winter Soldier came out. Jim
  20. I already explained that it is not like any other book, and no other book has "gone through this". But, if you have one in mind that you feel qualifies, feel free to name it and I will answer how I think it is different from the book you name. Daredevil 1 ASM 300 ASM 121 ASM 122 1st Starlord Guardians of the Galaxy 1 Soon to be BA 12 WD 7,10,19,27,53,61 Rocket Raccoon 1 Just off the top of my head. You failed to meet the bolded criteria with any of your listed book. Right off the top, none of them share the "time they were printed, similar print run size". So right away, all invalid comparisons. But, even being generous, only DD1, 1st Starlord and BA12 are first appearances of significant characters headlining a media product. DD1 is a silver age key (has not peaked btw), and is as much under pressure from other overvalued silver age keys (IH1,AF15) as it is from being a Netflix show. Furthermore, Daredevil was already a mainstream character (was before the affleck movie too). BA12 print run makes it very different as well. In addition, Harley like Daredevil was already a collector's targeted book with a strong following, before her central role in a Suicide squad movie. BA12's print run and ease of acquiring in 9.8 is completely different than Alias 1. 1st Starlord might be the only listed book so far, with a leg to stand on as a valid comparison. While the comic age, format (magazine), and print run all are invalid comparisons...you do have a character no one cared about before, suddenly becoming a mainstream character. There are issues with the "version" of the character in that book vs the movie, but for the most part this is your best example. Where you go way off base, is trying to equate its price path to Alias #1. To attack my NYX #3 comments, you would have to compare 1st Starlord's price rise, peak, and settling, to a similar era, magazine format, collector established character's 1st appearance. - - Don't think there is such a thing, so again, no grounds. NYX #3, by virtue of its similar printing date and print run (to Alias #1), and it's being the first appearance of a similar character (strong female anti-hero), establishes what the market/collectors will pay for said type of book. Alias #1 is the first appearance of a character, previously ignored, who has now become a permanent mainstream character. Long term, my opinion, is that it will settle at par or slightly above NYX #3 in terms of price (regardless of how the market moves as a whole) People that try to equate it to any other flash in the pan tv/movie adaptation book, are getting things wrong on many levels. If you come up with any valid books to compare, do feel free to post them. 1st Star Lord almost made the cut, but failed because its too different to offer any sort of refutation of my points. Cheers Wow. You wasted quite a bit of time. Does CBT does not stand for Comic Book Trends? If it does you are missing the trend completely. EVERY SINGLE BOOK THAT HAS EVER HAD A MOVIE HAS SEEN THE PEAK BEFORE RELEASE. If you don't have a reason why this is an exception then you are over-analyzing....as usual. Not totally true...TTA #13 peaked after the movie, more in the fall actually. And in some grades the last sale is stronger than what the summer of 2014's sales were. Jim
  21. Should plummet??? Just because YOU didn't like the show does NOT mean the book should plummet. It doesn't work that way. What matters is how many people liked the show, how many people liked (and like) Luke Cage, etc. And from so much evidence in this thread, a lot of people do. His portrayal of Luke cage so far is on par with Nicholas Cage on ghost rider According to YOU. (Of course you are entitled to your own opinions and are welcome to share them here, but to say that the book will plummet because of YOUR opinion of the portrayal and/or acting, etc, is to ignore completely that the reviews of so many have been positive, including that of the portrayal of Luke Cage). Man up and just say John listen you don't know what you are talking about etc.... JohnnyBoy you start smoking crack again??? The show is absolutely brilliant, I can't stop watching and finding time to slip another episode in. Didn't have a clue about any of the source material going in, but after watching three episodes before Sunday, at the show I did I bought every copy of Alias #1 in the room. I really think this one has got legs. And PurpleMan? An incredible villain....even bought a DD #4 on Sunday because of it. The MCU has become the "it" thing for me right now, so much so that if someone came up to me and asked me if I'd like to watch Force Awakens tomorrow or Civil War, no contest Civil War hands down. Jim Funny, you said the same thing after the Ant Man movie came out. I'm not hating on Alias 1 (I have 2 raw copies). The TV show brought a much deserved interest/buzz to the title but I'm not sure if the feeling of euphoria can be sustained to encourage more suckers speculators collectors to buy copies at inflated prices. That's quite possible, and maybe not a coincidence that Guardians, Ant-Man and JJ are something I don't have a clue about, so maybe it is all about the freshness. But what do I know...I was offering to pay for people's admission price to FF as I thought it didn't deserve the reviews it did...and I know that source material like the back of my hand. Jim
