  1. I'm pretty sure Dre was consulted before they decided to go to press. Jim
  2. If these are the most recent realized prices then the cover is overpriced for an auction. It may be a good price for a "Buy it now" but to maximize your auction dollars you want potential buyers to have a sense of ownership. Whenever they have the high bid that sense kicks in even if it is only for 5 minutes and it grows as the amount of time they are winning it increases. I understand your job is to ensure Charlie gets the lion's share as stated then you are best to put a higher price like you did (or higher) and open it to offers or lower the price and send it to auction. Regardless of what you're selling this is the way to go. Best of luck! Agreed...you can't justify a price starting point if you take a relatively large sampling of data AND then double the prices (at worst add 50%) of the realized prices and then argue that it's inline with FMV. Jim
  3. Those are all great books. Thanks Barton, Joey, Bob and Mr. Miesta Nik was a very special "bloke" who loved his books, but most importantly his friends. Jim
  4. It was originally an April Fools joke. Tony Moore posted he was returning to WD for 6 issues, and put this cover on his blog. He claimed the run would start with issue #60. (thumbs u http://www.tonymooreillustration.com/2008/04/walking-dead-60-cover.html That's exactly what it is..I was offered this piece a couple of months ago and is owned by a board member here. It's a cool piece of history but I think it's a pretty misleading title and would like to hope it's corrected when the actual auction starts. Jim
  5. I started this thread three years ago as an honour to Nik, and I'm glad you guys have kept it going strong ever since. Let's keep it going. It's been three years today since we lost him, and I'd love all the regular posters in this thread to post a single black picture frame book, as they were always his favorites. I miss you Nikky JJ
  6. And you just happen to have one for sale in the selling fourms. (thumbs u Ha. I was thinking the same thing. Although that is quite true, I think a $1300 9.6 sale is worthy of a discussion, and at least based on fact. Unlike what a grader does or does not see, that really doesn't pertain to WD at all. Jim
  7. Agreed  I honestly think you might be trying to hard to find those overtones. Jim
  8. This ebayer always seems like a person_who_is_obnoxiously_self-impressed, my personal opinion though. What a frikkin tool. Jim
  9. Really digging these...storyboards by John Watkiss for the TV show (thanks Jerry  ) Jim
  10. In my opinion the only issues of the WD Weekly that are worth buying are issues 1, (maybe 2 and/or 3 and/or 10), 19, 27, 33 and 48. What's everyone else think> I'm not gonna lie, I'm a big fan of the print run of WD Weekly and believe it presents a greater challenge to collect than WD. Jim
  11. Top one is on medium sharpness and bottom on high...I'll go with the top one, thanks for the advice. Jim
  12. I know there's another area to test this, but which is the better image? Jim
  13. Weeklies stopped at 52...one a week for all of 2011. I'm a huge fan of the Weekly books. You could pick up a set for $300ish, and for the books you mentioned I'd say $5 or less. Jim
  14. I have a 35 Oakland copy that apparently you are looking to buy? Jim
  15. Still not sure how I feel about my WD comics guru vs my WD original art guru Flame on!!! Jim Who is the OA guru? I've been talking with Jerry alot lately about art. Jim Jerry is probably just cutting and pasting what I am writing him and taking credit for it with you.

  18. Gotta agree with this. Jeff mentioned to me a couple of months ago that he thinks I have become his biggest competitor, but yet he has never had a problem discussing anything openly and frankly with me. He has never been afraid to help me out, or minded leaving an extra dollar on the table to make sure I'm taken care of. I hope he knows that the feeling is reciprocated. Hell one may say we've even become friends. Jim
  19. John: I agree, the negative space in 48 is well used and is my favourite cover but 93, 94, 97-99 have all been negative space, and instead of an effective tool for storytelling it looks like a freaking shortcut and a technique way overused by Adlard lately. Jim
