  1. So the next time Joker decides to blow up a hospital, following his own logic in this film we blame Batman? How does Bruce know which one is using heat vision? Normally I'd say by using basic detective skills, but since he uses that “he has the power to wipe out the entire human race and if we believe there’s even a one percent chance that he is our enemy we have to take it as an absolute certainty" line that paraphrases an old Cheney comment on the possibility of Al Qaeda obtaining nukes from a Pakistani nuclear scientist, he's assuming Kal-El's guilt by association with Zod. An association that's just as easy to make between the Joker and Batman if you're judging externally. So he doesn't know who is using the heat vision? At the moment shown, no, he's unable to see the shooter.
  2. I completely agree with this review. DC/Warner Bros is absolutely a clueless movie company. DC needs to completely revamp their approach and creative staff going forward. I thought I might not enjoy this movie, but your zeal to repeatedly slam it is telling me I must be mistaken.

  5. This reminds me of an interview he did back when he first accepted the Batman role. Here's a quote from it: Given that the reviews for Daredevil were significantly better than this film, I wonder if he now feels like picketing against Batman v Superman? I do feel bad for him...he's a big comics fan, and now BOTH of his superhero films have been critical bombs. And he was very specifically hoping to redeem himself with this one. https://thedissolve.com/news/1030-ben-affleck-regrets-daredevil/
  6. In Ben's mind....... Wow, I don't want to be here, but they gave me a ton of money to be here ... happy face happy face happy face......... not working... happy face.... not working.. Screw it, just look blankly into space, and remember I'm BATM........ No I'm Ben, but I can still buy or get any girl I want. He's also thinking "oh god, not AGAIN!"
  7. Another example of how little you have to do to be an "executive producer"--Kevin Smith and his producer friend Scott Mosier were both listed as executive producers on "Good Will Hunting," and he's said in his podcast that the only reason for that is because Matt Damon asked him about directing the film because he was friends with Ben Affleck, but Smith turned it down, gave him suggestions for finding what he considered to be better directors, and gave him some other suggestions for the film. One conversation made them both "executive producers."
  8. Nothing. The typical difference between a "producer" and an "executive producer" is that the executive ones had some influence on the film's creation but played no active role in producing the film. Stan Lee gets the executive nod for creating the characters on most of the Marvel films. Kirby also got one for FF, and Ditko also got one for Spider-Man. So Annihilus is wondering why Miller isn't getting one for Daredevil. As Pontoon pointed out, he did get a writing credit. So did a number of other Daredevil authors and artists including Roy Thomas, Klaus Janson, John Romita, Jack Kirby, etc. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3322312/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ov_st_sm
  9. Len Wein gets NO credit for X-Men even though he's responsible for the team everyone loves.
  10. It probably had to be equal in quality to "The Spirit" before he'd recognize its quality. Or lack thereof.
  11. I generally enjoyed that film. Critics agreed...it has 76% Rotten Tomatoes overall score and 7/10 Rotten Tomatoes quality score. Certainly the scenes where Superman uses his powers were fantastic...love the space shuttle rescue sequence in particular, I can rewatch that over and over.
  12. Speaking of Green Lantern, Batman v Superman isn't far from its Rotten Tomatoes score.
  13. It won't change my excitement to see the film. It does leave me waiting for that moment now, and not telling my friends I am attending the film with. Yeah, I wish I hadn't read it (but I almost always read spoilers). Can't believe they'd make Lois and Lex lovers. i'm happy i haven'tead anything about it Yeah, keep it that way. Apparently, I need to stop reading this thread, too. I'm going to assume that Lois and Lex comment was a complete joke.
  14. Yeah, where Feige has been producing superhero movies for quite some time now (since the 2000 X-Men film), Johns made his bones as a comic book creator. To have a mix of both is a tough one to find. Feige was a comic book nerd who became a film exec under Arad's tutelage. Johns has more nerd cred since he's been a writer but Feige wasn't, and Johns is slowly getting film producer/exec experience. He might be a Feige equivalent right now, or maybe in a few years--or maybe he's even better since he's got real creative work done in his career unlike Feige--but either way we'll never know if he has to answer to a bunch of other non-comic-nerds on that committee list. Feige wasn't Feige until he got promoted out of Arad's shadow; Johns can't be Feige if he doesn't get the chance to be. Looks to me like he deserves a chance.
  15. The only potential Feige on that list with comic book geek cred is Geoff Johns; the others look like film execs that Warner shoved in there. This situation looks vaguely similar to the early Marvel film days when Avi Arad was in charge and quality was in the hands of whichever director they picked with execs sometimes letting them do their thing and sometimes not. They did well with Sam Raimi, then started micro-managing him when it all came apart. Bryan Singer did OK. But the guy in charge, Arad, had no consistent ability to pick good directors or guide content like Feige and his Marvel helpers have achieved. If that list of guys are really the people guiding the films, I see no quick end in sight to sucky films. The quickest fix would be to raise Geoff Johns up and let him pull the best DC writers in, but that assumes Johns has the ability that Feige does. And he very well may not.
  16. From the link, the skull concept didn't come until after Spielberg was on board for creating another Indiana Jones movie. Did you perhaps mean "... budging off of the alien concept."? I've never heard which part of it they didn't like--the crystal skull, the 50s sci-fi elements, or the alien concept--they just didn't like it.
  17. He's now established he isn't. They're going to need to find one. It's hard to see how the plug doesn't yet again get pulled on the Justice League movie. Makes you wonder now whether pulling George Miller off of it was such a good idea given how well he did with Mad Max.
  18. I bet advertising cost more than that on this one. Never noticed so much promotion on a film before.
  19. I thought I might want to see this, but now I may just cruise for YouTube videos of an ant taking on an anteater instead. Seems like the same matchup.
  20. You have to also realize a lot of critics are going to be resentful towards this big studio film that was made instead of some art house film about a little boy chasing a balloon all over Paris. Are you referring to this critic's darling? It EARNED the acclaim.
  21. Review embargo is up today! So far it's at 0% with zero positives and one negative. Worst DC movie of all time so far! http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/batman_v_superman_dawn_of_justice/
  22. If the deal is still in place then it'd be no different than the last four. Paramount distributed them and LucasFilm produced them; that'd still happen with Disney as the parent to LucasFilm. If another one ends the Paramount deal, then it just means their name isn't at the front anymore and Disney distributes the sixth and later films. I haven't heard for sure, but I'm guessing the Paramount deal is still in place and the fact that they get a big cut may be the primary reason Disney has moved so slowly on a new film.
  23. It's important to note that the skull concept wasn't his idea, it was George Lucas's. So Koepp can't really be blamed for what most people disliked about that movie. I don't believe that the skull concept was all that bad to tell the truth. I felt that the execution of it was a little off. Perhaps because Spielberg and Ford both hated the idea for years which is why it took almost two decades for another film to come out. They both finally relented after it was obvious Lucas wasn't budging off of the skull concept. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indiana_Jones_and_the_Kingdom_of_the_Crystal_Skull#Development
  24. Maybe an aspect is like Bickle, but if you remember the end of the killing spree in Taxi Driver, Bickle was entirely unhinged. Castle is tactical, controlled, and never detached from reality. Also BIckle's motivations are drastically different than The Punisher's. It's in those motivations, and exposition by the character, that the full form of the character is revealed. Other than killing people, being ex-military and wanting to clear the scum off the streets, there's not much the same between Bickle and Castle. Their motivations are drastically different. Bickle is rejected by a woman and begins to plot to kill the Senate candidate she works for, for fame or attention....that's a world away from Castle. He fixates on a 12 prostitute and kills everyone around here, almost in a trance at the time. To me, characters are their motivations...what pushes them to act. These characters are so radically different in that respect it's hard to see that they are more alike than they are different. Really, he's a hell of a lot more like Kersey in Death Wish, in terms of motivation, than Bickle. Yea he doesn't remind me of Bickle at all in personality. Bickle wouldn't have been offended by that pawn shop owner mentioning the kiddie porn, but obviously Frank Castle was. Bickle was insane, Castle isn't. I'm guessing that the comparison is mostly coming from their appearance which is vaguely similar early in the show, particularly the jacket.
