The FF as it‘s own thing I think at least gives this a chance.

I found this whole situation very interesting. I was so curious who would fold first.
As impossible as it may seem now, it's inevitable that live action films will be all but extinct within 20/30 years.
The technology to create a feature film without human actors will be so advanced that the human eye will not be able to determine CGI from a real person.
It will also be much more cost effective for studios to not have to pay top actors 20-30m compared to the current salaries of the digital crew.
And if we as a society consume it, then I guess we get what we deserve.

Super hero movie fatigue. No genre lasts indefinitely.
Wether you like/dislike them or they are awesome or not, general audiences are moving on with only fans remaining imho.
Disney, Warner, Sony etc should focus on providing a product to their remaining audience that is cost effective and profitable, i.e. lower budgets, better movies or TV shows and most importantly, realistic expectations.
Personally, I wish there was more animation.

not comic book related, but art book related. someone has a book for sale at 400$. Is it bad form to send them a DM offering 300$? While I've negotiated on eBay, never have done so on Abebooks
I don't see the harm. Worst case, they say no.

I thought the reboot to be very well done from beginning to end. It’s hard for me to imagine improving on it in any meaningful way. For me at least , one of the top tv series of all time. And yes, I thought the ending was brilliant.

I like the idea of the interconnected world, and big evolving plots. However, the MCU right now has completely lost sight that these movies can be small, need to tell their own stories in their own voice, and can not always just feel like a bridge to the next film.
We all like continuity to be sure but it’s amazing how quickly it becomes a prison, stifling creativity and ultimately becoming predictable.
Movie franchises are like restaurant franchises, you don’t go for surprises.
I love a big mac as much as anybody else though.

Between the writers strike, the actors strike, dropping quality, and decreased fan interests, the MCU needs a rest, even if forced. Iger is attempting to stop the bleeding finacially at Disney, and the entertainment divisions have been consistently losing money. This move makes sense.
The best thing for the MCU may be a few year hiatus and soft reboot, and this could all be a blessing in disguise.
Totally agree!
I wish they would put out quality animated features. Maybe save some money and keep and develop a fan base. If you told me the Galactus trilogy or the kree skrull war were in development, I would be more excited about it than in any live action movie. Oh and f continuity, make things self contained.

A human has to be on set to say the lines. A human has to be on set to direct how the human says the lines. A computer can write 90% of the lines they’re both using. That’s why writers are the most disposable part of the process and the sooner they realize that the better.
Is it wrong for me to wish you watching 90% computer generated writing from here on out.

Dr Doom came to life on the big screen in a little sci-fi fantasy film back in 1977. Those in the know, know who came first, but for everyone else, he will seem a copy.

Sometimes it feels as if a movie is secondary to what has become the reviewverse.
I miss the daily paper and only having to avoid one review.

I guess I just don't understand how a chase movie can be regarded that well.
That’s fair, we all like what we like. But if you get time, give it or any of the others mentioned a chance.

If you want to, can you explain how?
Go back if your interested and watch Bullet (Steve McQueen) or Duel (Spielbergs first made for TV movie) or Road Warrior (first Mad Max). There are many others, but all classic chase movies. Simple plots, require almost no dialogue, great stunts (an understatement) and hold tension throughout. Fury Road follows in this tradition and embellishes. It‘s beautiful to look at and in this age of cgi (most of it bad) the practical stunts and sets are gorgeous. It is beautifully crafted, entirely self consistent and by my standard, a perfect film. Pure cinema.
Also, I have to thank you for reminding me of Duel.

Think they also should start viewing these as stand alone movies again. Right now every film feels like the bridge to the next film and not it's own thing. That is hurting these movies. If a fan misses a film, or does not like a film, or is not interested in one, it give them a jumping off point. Once the habit is broken it is easier not to come back.
This also ties into the mistake of making the D+ shows required viewing. Just not enough people are watching these, again providing a jumping off point. So now going back to watch for a film, feels like homework. The Marvels is really going to put this to the test with 2 of the 3 main characters getting their start in streaming.
This, this and this.

If it’s as bad as vol 2, then they still owe me money.

So we're just going to throw out all criticism because some of it is disengenuous? Alrighty then.
If you want a nuanced discussion. Call a friend, go out to a movie and then for coffee after and talk about it. Don't look for it on the internet.
Just saying.
Not directed at you personally of course.

Right? I mean who knew that when we were made to watch season after season of Hogans Heroes in grade 8 social studies that germans weren’t so easily plied by apple strudel.
