  1. The thing that kills me is that they sent me a friendly message along with the transfer requests
  2. Fortunately, it never went through. I hadn't checked my set or my email in a while. The message was at the top of the email list, and I figured, hey thanks for the compliment. Then I see the transfer requests, which baffle me, as I hadn't sold any books in a while. Low and behold, a request on my #34 9.8 and the #36 10.0 Of all the 9.9's and other 10.0's I own, it seemed weird that they requested the #34 9.8 Of course, as soon as I see it, I immediately hit decline. Then I start to worry, as it shows the request expired. Then I start to panic a bit, and head straight to the registry... it hadn't went through Thought for sure I was going to have to go through some hoops with CGC to get everything fixed. I thought I'd run their name through here, to see if anyone else had books being requested for transfers.
  3. This person sent me this message, "You are my Hero!! Im in love with the walking dead and after seeing your collection on here makes me wanna collect all of them just like you have." Then I received a certificate transfer for two of my books that I still own. One of which, the #36 CGC 10.0
  4. I think your graded set is better Yes they are.....thank you sir. Think the way it goes on that set is I thank you...you thank the person you got them from and he thanks the person he got them from. ......think I'm the fourth in the line now if I'm correct for that set. Yes it is. I know I was thrilled when I acquired it and sad when it left But I know it's at a good home
  5. I thought the same thing...I bet Dre is both happy and sad about this news It's not as bad as the Weekly books when they were coming out It was a much easier time, since variants were not produced often like they are right now, but that came to around 5 WD books a month I hope they don't plan to continue the Weekly books again. I'm more than happy with it being a 52 book run, although 1-48 would have been better.
  6. Without actually knowing how many second prints were distributed, it's hard to say. I've been watching ebay for portland second prints, to fill the eventual hole in my set, and the copies I've seen there have been pretty bad. On the last few that popped up, two had tears in the front cover, and the third was dinged badly on the corner and had scuffs from the book sliding around in the mailer. That's not to say that there could be quite a few 9.8 quality books out there that are just sitting in someone's WD stack If any one spots a 9.8 candidate, by all means, let me know
  7. I'd say 5K is probably going to be the low # on these. I thought these were given away to all attendees of the Wizard World shows. If you figure the NY one had 40K attendees, i figure they'd be printing at least that. But I have no actual idea, just guessing. :winnah: There's no chance the print run of any of these variants is less than 10k. If so, then why did they do second prints on the Portland variants? Is maybe this one way underprinted compared to the others? If by underprinted, you mean less than, say, 5,000 copies, I don't think that's the case at all - but the Portland variant was not only the first one they did, it also premiered at one of the small Wizard World shows. As far as I know, no other shows have run out of copies to give away ... In my opinion, they never should have printed the mailed out copies as "second print" I'd like to know why these even went out at all... From my understanding, they ran out of copies to cover all in attendance, and mailed them to those who didn't get a copy. From what I've seen, it appears they were packed horribly, just thrown in a plain mailer, no bags or extra boards

  9. I'll need a 9.8 copy down the road, for my variant set. I'm leaning towards waiting on one that has already been slabbed. God forbid I taint my set with a book less than a 9.8 HOLY COW POOP bass punk....Your collection is remarkable......I just pooped out a baby..... (worship) Thank you Last count, I think I have 25 9.9's and 3 10.0's Um, excuse me, would you mind posting generally when you are at work/away from home for extended periods and if you have a security system or not? Thanks in advance (thumbs u I have a quite a few awesome WDs including several 9.9's , lots of yellows and some sweet sketches but no 10s (yet). Did you sub the 10s? I have a giant back pack that I tote my collection in, so it's never out of my sight As for the 10.0's, I did not sub them. I've only ever graded one WD 9.9 Plenty of 9.8's though I'm always keeping an eye out for 9.9's or better for issues 1-48, although I look for 9.9's + for pretty much any issue I don't have I have the CGC boards to thank for what my set is. While I only had eBay when I started building my set a few years ago, that led to sellers who were CGC board members. Only wish I would have found this place sooner, I could have saved a ton on shipping fees Many thanks to Jeff, Dre, Jon, and Steve along with a few other boardies whom I've purchased from, over the years

God forbid I taint my set with a book less than a 9.8 Do you think they'll actually pop back into circulation anytime soon? Haven't had a chance to really check but based on what we can see with people bidding on these has someone won a bunch of them? If so they may be planning on flipping them (crazy in my mind if they think they will profit off these already insane prices). I'm sure some speculators have bought up a handful of the sketches, wouldn't surprise me to see some outrageous "buy it now" or best offers come season 4. Luckily, I'm in no hurry to get one. Pretty much content on buying one much later, when I find one at the price I'm willing to pay I went a little crazy leading into this year's registry awards. I wasn't about to lose this year

  13. That would be awesome, but I hope not Even with selling my 9.9, I don't think I'd make a dent in a #1 10.0
  14. It certainly doesn't hold the price difference, like the 33 2nd print. A very undervalued book, in my opinion, and tough to find in high grade.
  15. Way too fragile an item for 10k Soo fragile in fact...that it's borderline fictional. one dude got a 9.9 last year for ~$3K I paid $2200 for mine Although, this was just before the show exploded prices Then again, people thought I was crazy to pay what I did for my #1 9.9. 9.8's were in the $5-600 range during that window. they still do I am

  17. My sentiments exactly This is not uncommon with this seller. Always overpriced, but this is worse than usual.
  18. Just wow All he needs is a white pillar to stand it on and this would look about right http://www.ebay.com/itm/THE-WALKING-DEAD-WEEKLY-1-CGC-GRADED-9-8-SIGNED-BY-Kirkman-Yeun-Bernthal-Riggs-/390580126654?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item5af063c3be
