Haven't been buying much lately, but I still keep my eyes open....saw an ad yesterday (50 minute drive from my house), of 2,000 comics for $550.  The pictures weren't promising but there were a few ASMs, SSM 1 and some other titles so I figured it would be worth it based on bulk rates alone.  Met the guy at his old farmhouse his parents own, right away (the three boxes and two tote bags) I knew there wasn't 2k comics.  He was receptive and told me to go through it, as I start looking through the first tote, I see low grade ASM 300 and 101.

I didn't bother going through any of the others boxes, I told him this is fine.  I could have definitely negotiated lower, but I didn't have time to go through them nor would I have felt right had I found some real big books after beating him up at an already good price.  Chatted for maybe another 20 minutes, left my business card then hit the road.  Went through all them yesterday, as expected the rest of the comics (about 1k total) is almost entirely bulk with a handful of maybe a few 5-10 books.  Everything that isn't pictured below is going to be bulked out dirt cheap.....the ASMs are low grade, they have a 'gritty' feel to them of being worn down from years without bags/boards.

I'll assume you're a fellow Canadian.  Looks like you have some Canadian price variants in there!

  2. So last night I ended up binge watching Cobra Kai season 5.  I think Disney should fire every single MCU tv writer and producer and have the whole CK team of writers and producers take over every upcoming tv show and have them run the universe a la Favreau/Filoni over at SW.  Those ten new episodes had more fun and heart than every movie and show Marvel has put out after End Game  put together.

Although I disagree going so hard with the dislike, these details drive home the point why Ragnarok's humor worked and Love and Thunder seemed to divide the audience.

I never picked up on Ragnarok had three writers (Eric Pearson, Craig Kyle, Christopher L. Yost) and Love and Thunder was two driven by one (Taika Waititi, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson).

I find that anything Yost works on turns to gold.  And that goes back to through his Avengers cartoon days as well.

Following that line of thinking direct editions would be reprints if the issues with UK pence copies were printed first in order to get them out first, since they needed to get on a boat to Europe.

The market always decides, and it usually decides based on supply.

And what if the Canadian price variants were actually printed first because getting them to us up here is hard in a snowstorm?  Thel ALL you other guys would own reprints!!

What kind of ball park prices do you mean when you say "still not that expensive"? hm

I've seen people ask and get up to $80 for some of them, though a lot of them are still well under the $20 mark, especially when offered in lots.  I love my SE 1 Alan Light reprint, and actually have it hanging on the wall with a cover homahe I comissioned a decade ago (while my real copy sits safely among my collection).

I also own a few of these Alan Light reprint books from way back in the day.  (thumbsu

Any idea if CGC accepts them for grading or is that a silly question because they will grade almost anything nowadays as long as they are compensated for it.

Just wondering if any particular issue would be more highly desirable and at least worth a few dollars, or is the demad for these reprints so low that the available supply has no problem fulfilling the current demand?  hm  :wishluck:

No idea what CGC would do with them.  I did notice that prices on them have gone up nicely over the past 3 or 4 years.  Still not that expensice overall though.

  7. I think there would be a VERY decent market for high quality, true to size and printed on newsprint reprints of a lot of GA books that have fallen into public domain.  I'd be willing to pay up to $20 or so for a copy of a book like that.

And yes I already own a number of Alan Light books...they're so much fun!
