  1. Decided to purchase this one for not too bad of a price on the Bay.
  2. That's a nice set and has fantastic, inherent historical value but without the cover and Irv Novick's art... bleh It is funny, for me, on some of these once you see the inside of the book the desire to own it goes down a bit. I love Jeff Jones and was an underbidder at just under $800 for the recent ww 200 9.6 that sold on clink back in March I think. Recently both ww 199 and 200 showed up on comixology so I downloaded and read the issues. Now that I've read the story and seen the art, I'm not sure that I'm in the market for a WW200 anymore. What? No Don Heck love here? Absolutely none. Plus the story was dated, all the cool 70s catch phrases annoyed me and the backup story with merboy and birdboy fighting over wonder girl was cringe inducing.

  4. I picked this one up recently. As Brian has said, this is a beautiful rendering of bat girl...
  5. Please keep me posted on how this works out for you. Indubitably.
  6. Thanks POV. I'm a team player, so whatever the majority agrees to is fine with me. I just wanted to point out a potential process flow improvement since it seems like there have been recurring problems in this area. I would imagine that coming up with any consensus is a bit like herding cats, so I apologize if this came across like stirring the pot. Lastly, I thought this was the "Probation Discussions Thread"? Back in 2011 I was still becoming acquainted with the board and I don't think I was purchasing until late in the year. Most of my major purchases have been over the last 6 months I guess. I certainly don't want to upset the entire process and I seriously doubt that I could even if I wanted to. I'm just saying that IMHO 30 days after real dollars has changed hands (not just a and no pay) is a long time to wait for at least a confirmation code from the PO.
  7. If you had taken more care in hiding the seller's ID then I wouldn't have posted what I did - it took 10 seconds to find your post in the thread, how do you think I knew to advise you the international transit time, how did I know Sufunk bought in the same thread? I'll clarify my points: - General discussions about customer service expectations are fine even when they exceed community standards. - General discussions about what is or is not an "acceptable life changing" event to warrant delay of books is also fine. HOWEVER once you discuss either one where it can be related back to a specific board member then I don't think it's fair in the former or wise in the latter since you never know what the circumstances might be. I'd suggest a better effort in hiding someone's identity if you want to just ask questions or engage in general discussions. I'm glad you got some follow up communication from the seller (10-14 business days like I said) and if you truly felt you didn't "out" the seller here then I apologize for adding the STFU graemlin thing. It never occurred to me that someone would go and dig the information out of the posting history. I certainly never intended to out the seller, you figured that out all on your own. But now that you've brought posting history, I've reviewed your posting history as well and IMHO I wonder what makes you qualified to define/enforce buyer/seller interaction rules (other then hanging out on the board and talking alot). I don't see that you sell books, it looks like mostly you buy $5-$30 books. So unless you're doing a lot of PM purchasing, from what I can see your largest purchase is around $160 dollars. And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that and I'm not a big book buyer either, I'm sure my $400 to $1500 dollar transactions cause some of the folks on here to roll their eyes as well but IMHO if you're going to call someone who's spending thousands of dollars on the board an idi0t and tell them to STFU because they have some concerns about a first time transaction with a given seller, at the very least make sure you're in the same situation.
  8. +1 Especially when the girl second from the left pops out and looks at the other end of the line up.
  9. I think 30 days is fine to finish negotiating for the sale of the item, but to be honest with you, IMHO, once money has changed hands, I think 30 days is a long time to wait, unless agreed upon by the buyer and seller, before expecting your item. I would suggest maybe half of that time frame to at least expect it to be in the mail with some type of delivery confirmation number. If a seller waits until day 30 and then sends something media mail or international shipping, I imagine you could be on the outside of your limit for posting a claim depending on how you've paypaled. Also, in a couple of instances I've had the seller request a personal payment through paypal and I believe that removes all protection we have as a buyer. In that case, I think the sale needs to be taken even more seriously. Does it need to be completed in 5 days? No, but I don't really see asking for a confirmation number to be provided in two weeks to be all that super demanding unless you have some time management challenges... How are the rules decided by the community? Is it put to a vote for as many people as possible to ring in or is this a select group of illuminati-like individuals putting these rules in place? I've read through the last 6 months of this thread and it seems like the same 20 or 25 folks posting over and over. I think there is close to 18k folks on this board. How would one go about making a suggestion? Are buyers and sellers fairly represented? It seems like alot of the discussion I've seen focuses on protecting the seller and the buyer can just suck it. Despite the fact that the seller doesn't actually ship until they receive money. I know I've dropped 1k to 1.5k a couple of times and in those cases I do expect awesome communication and in these purchases I've received it. After the initial purchase, I'll be much more comfortable dealing with you and won't be as paranoid but up until that point I would like to see the items shipped in a reasonable time. Also, keep in mind that some of us are relatively new and don't know who has street cred and who doesn't. Having some guy like bababooey come out and tell folks who have spent maybe significant amounts of money to STFU is stupid. In relation to my original issue, I do have some movement now. Thanks so much for those folks who actually helped. Also keep in mind that I never outed the seller and my questions were process related.
  10. Yep, we've already had s PM discussion and sufunk vouched for the seller's reliability. And to think he did this without a single STFU.
  11. I'm not ready to call this one theft yet, I mean the seller could be in the middle of chemotherapy or in a coma as you've mentioned. Right now its just really slow shipping and handling until I guess the 30 day criteria has been met. And who knows, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised and the package will show up this week or early next in the mail and the seller just failed to communicate that the item was shipped. Other than that I 100% agree with you. Also, I agree with the excuses as well. S&H time should take no more than three days unless agreed upon during the negotiating of the transaction. Regardless, I think sellers and buyers need to take this very seriously and communication is essential. However, if it gets past this I guess I would consider it theft. If it comes to that I'm still considering how I will handle it. However, in cases of theft I think this should be an automatic nomination to the HoS list until the person resolves the issue. IMO, posting a and then failing to complete a transaction is not even in the same ballpark as taking monies and failing to provide the item. A buyer attempting to commit fraud should be held to the same standard. Regardless of whether the amount is in the hundreds or thousands. In some states (my state included, VA), theft is considered a felony if its over $200..... International transit time is probably going to run 10-14 business days - presuming southbound is the same as northbound. I'm guessing you guys are both in the same boat but chirping about it here before 30 days is up seems kinda petty to me considering it's being done in a thread where actual bad deals are intended to be brought up. Once I buy a book I want it ASAP just like you guys, I think all collectors are like that but griping about it publicly while sharing your OCD fueled customer service expectations & relating it to the PL/HOS/theft/fraud is kind of dumb. Speculating the extent to which "real life" would/could/should impact service on someone who hasn't posted in a week is dumber than what I mentioned in the first paragraph. The forum has a kudos thread, there is no anti-kudos thread where you can critique sellers/buyers - right now all you can do is choose to privately avoid a seller/buyer who doesn't meet service expectations that YOU have that exceed those of the community. I'd think non-infractions would be stuff like: - books arrived intact but weren't well packed, shipper delayed shipping out my books for a week with no communication/explanation - - - < ---- closest I could come to a STFU graemlin I posted in here to find out what was the process for reporting a transaction that I was starting to become uncomfortable with was. To be honest I don’t really care what speculation you think is dumb or not. You might want to get over yourself because you’re just poster on a comic book board like the rest of us. At least be civil, and leave STFU comments @ home. I mean would you seriously say that to a person you just met? I’d expect that type of from a kid. Some of us are relatively new buyers and don’t know everyone on this board and who’s dependable and who’s not. Some of us may not feel comfortable having hundreds or thousands of dollars on the table and poor communication. If you have input, recommendations, suggestions you may want to rethink how you state them. Thanks to those who answered my questions and now I’m done.

  13. OK, that all sounds fair to me and I'm with you up until the point where you say don't hold it against the seller. To be honest with you, we're not speaking about someone simply saying I'll take it and then failing to complete the transaction. IMO, that's just a minor annoyance and receiving money and not sending the item should be a much more serious infraction than simply failing to complete a transaction you've committed to. In this case, a moderate sum of money has changed hands. I most certainly will hold it against the seller if I do not receive the item as agreed upon or the monies back. I'm already a bit annoyed by the whole thing, I tried to be as considerate as possible from my side of the transaction, I paid almost immediately upon agreeing to the deal and I paid in a fashion that would mitigate any fees levied against the seller. Already, IMHO, the seller is not showing the same consideration I showed, which I find troubling. I'm trying to temper this with the consideration that maybe the seller has some personal issues going on with his/her life and I know I am somewhat paranoid about transactions on the Internet so I'm trying to factor that in as well. After all the seller hasn't read my latest PM so maybe there is something going on that is interfering with the ability to complete the transaction; however, I think consideration could have been shown to communicate that issue. Personally, I have a couple of jobs a 3yo and my wife and I are in the process of finding a new tenant for one of our properties but I would still go out of my way to be timely about obligations that I might have. I've sold books before as well and I know it doesn't take that long to box a book with protection and put it in the mail.
  14. I've got a potentially, problematic purchase as well and I'm curious how the probation list works if it comes to that. I posted a on a sales thread back on 4/3/2012 for a specific item. In all the transactions that I've completed on the board, granted only about 4 (just under 3k worth of transactions), the seller normally responds with an invoice so I normally just wait and no money has changed hands yet so I'm not really worried about it. About a week later (4/10/2012), I get a message saying the seller didn't see the but that the item was on hold before I posted the anyway (no info posted to the thread). I said OK. The seller comes back one day later (4/11/2012) and states that the item is still available and mine if I want it, I guess the original transaction fell through. I still wanted it and I promptly paypaled money on 4/12/2012 and the seller responds stating that he'll get back to me with tracking/carrier information. I don't hear back from the seller for about a week. I PM the seller on 4/20/2012 asking if he's had a chance to get the item in the mail. He responds on 4/20/2012 saying no but he'll get it in the mail shortly, I don't hear back that he's put it in the mail so I wait another week and PM again 4 days ago on 4/28/2012. I've had no response at this point but I don't see that the message has been read. So maybe the seller has just been really busy. So it's now been just under 30 days since I started the transaction and just under 20 days since I've payed. Everything could still be fine and maybe the seller has some personal problems that are causing extremely slow shipping. So, I have a few questions. 1. Let's say that I don't hear from the seller by 5/11/2012, 30 days from when I paid, what process do I need to go through to submit the seller for probation? I'm willing to post a PM transcript and Paypal transcript. 2. Also, let's say that the seller responds but does not deliver the item by 30 days after payment has been received. Should I continue forward with requesting an election to the probation list or trust that the seller will deliver the item? 3. Just under $400 dollars has been sent to the seller ($382 to be exact). I know this is not a huge sum compared to some of the transactions on the list but $400 is a moderate transaction for me. Unfortunately, naively perhaps, I sent the payment as a gift so the seller would not be charged any Paypal fees. The seller did not request this but the seller is a boardie who has been here a long time and was selling the item for under the last GPA sale so I sent it as a personal payment so as not to hit the seller with any additional fees. So I'm not sure that I have any recourse to recover the money in the event that this transaction goes sideways. In that case, if actual money has changed hands and no item is delivered is this sufficient to submit the seller for the HOS list? Again, everything could turn out OK but I am somewhat concerned about the communication and how long this transaction is taking. I would like to get everything in order to at least inform other board members about the problem if necessary. I will wait until 5/11/2012 which is roughly 30 days after I sent money although 5/3/2012 is when I commenced this transaction. Beyond that, are there any thoughts on this? Am I being overly paranoid about the transaction? TIA.
  15. I also picked up this guy. Now that I think about it I'm not sure why.
  16. Thanks to Marco for this one, absolutely love this Steranko cover.
  17. That's a nice set and it looks like a significant amount of work just to lay all those books out and take some good pictures. Congratulations.
  18. Western Penn Swamp Thing 1. I'm green with envy.
  19. Purchased G.I Combat 168 the other day. I experienced awesome communication, fast shipping, great flexibility to requests and an all around great transaction. Thanks again.
  20. Congrats on that Clink purchase, that was a very reasonable price. I plucked my copy out of the comicconnect auction and while not the highest it was a painful purchase.
  21. Beautiful book, is that the Metropolis copy and most importantly were you able to work a deal with those guys?
  22. Sorry for your loss, man. This image kills me every time I see it and I served but was never in any combat...
